The 2025 U.S. Open is upon us.
A star-studded field of 156 golfers is preparing to tee off at Oakmont Country Club on Thursday in Pennsylvania for the 125th annual U.S. Open golf tournament, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and defending champion Bryson DeChambeau, but there's one notable A-Lister that won't be making an appearance.
Fifteen-time major champion Tiger Woods will not compete at the 2025 U.S. Open, marking the third consecutive major tournament he has missed this year due to an Achilles injury. Woods, 49, announced in March that he successfully underwent surgery to repair his left Achilles after feeling "a sharp pain" during training. He didn't provide a timeline for his return, but noted that he plans to "focus on my recovery and rehab."
Woods competed at the 2024 U.S. Open tournament, but missed the cut into the weekend.

Bryson DeChambeau hits three chips, has zero-putt bogey at 2025 U.S. Open
Bryson DeChambeau is the defending U.S. Open champion for a reason. Par is a good score in the U.S. Golf Association's national championship, and sometimes even a bogey is really good. DeChambeau had an incredible bogey during his first round at Oakmont Country Club on Thursday. Advertisement On the par-5 12th hole, DeChambeau was long of the green in two and attempted to hit his third shot past the pin and let it use the slope to get close to the hole, but he flew the green and went straight back into the rough. His fourth shot, he once again didn't get out of the rough. Then with his fifth, he once again did not find the putting surface, even if he finally got out of the luscious prison. The wedge went back into the bag, and from the fringe for his sixth shot, he holed an incredible bogey save on a hole that looks like he was heading for double ... or worse. A little zero-putt bogey for the defending champion, and it's far from the most chaotic thing to happen in the first round outside of Pittsburgh.
