3 underrated HBO Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 13-15)
One of the biggest box office flops of the year, Alto Knights, is now on HBO Max. In a dual role, Robert De Niro stars as Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two mob bosses battling for control in 1950s New York. One seismic decision leads to a war between Vito and Frank, and only one man will be left standing.
A positive effect of streaming is that a failed movie like Alto Knights can still find an audience on streaming platforms. Other films with lesser profiles can also find audiences, including Parthenope, Paolo Sorrentino's beautiful Italian drama. Watch Parthenope and two more underrated movies on HBO Max below.

Vatican sets date for first millennial saint to be canonized
The Vatican has announced that the first millennial saint will be canonized in September. Pope Leo XIV made an announcement during a meeting with cardinals that Carlo Acutis will be inscribed into the Book of Saints on September 7. Acutis died at the age of 15 in Northern Italy after a short bout with leukemia in 2006, according to the Associated Press. Before Pope Francis's death on April 21, Acutis was set to be canonized on April 27 during the Vatican's Jubilee of Teenagers. During his life, Acutis spent most of his time like any normal teenager would, while also giving time back to both the church and the community. According to the Associated Press, Acutis taught Catholicism at a local church and volunteered to help the homeless. Acutis also used his computer coding skills to create a website highlighting more than 100 eucharistic miracles recognized by the church. The first intercession by Acutis came from his own mother, Antonia, who told Fox News that it came four years after his death. "When Carlo died, I was 39 years old, and then I started to try to have other children. I said, 'I'm still young, maybe I can try, no?' [But] the children didn't arrive. Then I had started on my practice to adopt a child, but in Italy, it's very difficult... I had lost all my hopes to have children by myself," she explained. "Once I dreamed about Carlo, he told me, 'listen, you will become, again, a mother. Don't worry.' And, one month after, I became pregnant." According to the National Catholic Register, the Vatican has recognized a second miracle by intercession on May 23, 2024. The miracle involved a 21-year-old Costa Rican woman named Valeria Valverde. Valverde sustained a serious brain injury in a bicycle accident while residing in Florence, Italy in 2022. Valverde was not expected to survive the injury. However, she made a full recovery after her mother visited Acutis's tomb and prayed for his intercession, according to the National Catholic Register. Acutis's tomb, which is located in Assisi, has been visited frequently by Catholics, most notably younger Catholics. Acutis will be joined by the blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati when he is inscribed in the book of saints. Fox News Digital's Laura Carrione contributed to this story.

Pixar Is Channeling the Kitty Hit ‘Flow' for Its 2027 Release
Pixar just announced the next movie on its always exciting upcoming slate and, for the first time in a long time, it feels a little like the studio is chasing trends instead of setting them. Which probably isn't the case, but the timing does make it hard to ignore. Just announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Pixar's 2027 film is called Gatto. Directed by Luca helmer Enrico Casarosa, the film is set in Venice, Italy and follows a black cat named Nero who, 'after years of maneuvering the canal-ridden, superstitious city… begins to question whether he's lived the right life. Indebted to a local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose—unless Venice gets the better of him first.' Sounds great, right? And, because it's Pixar, it probably will be. Pixar movies are usually great because they take so long to make, so there's a very good chance Gatto was in development long before November of last year. But, that's when a French animated film called Flow was released and charmed film fans everywhere, ultimately leading to it winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Now, that's almost certainly a coincidence—it's not like animation and cats are some new, fresh idea—but Pixar's first new movie announcement after the success of Flow also being a cat movie sure seems lucky. Pixar has a lot happening before 2027, though. Next week, it'll release Elio, the long-delayed story of a young boy going on an alien adventure. That'll be followed in March 2026 by Hoppers, a film about humans being able to interact and talk with animals, and then in June 2026 we get Toy Story 5, which will see Buzz, Woody, and the gang tangle with technology. Then, after all that, comes Gatto. You see a glimpse of it above, and here's the full piece of concept art.
