Penang-born actress Pik-Sen Lim, seen here in a scene from 'Johnny English Reborn', has passed away at the age of 80. — Screengrab via YouTube KUALA LUMPUR (June 13): Penang-born British actress Pik-Sen Lim, best known for her role in the sitcom Mind Your Language, has died on Monday at the age of 80. Lim gained international recognition and became a familiar face on British and Malaysian television for her role as Chung Su-Lee in Mind Your Language, a popular British comedy that aired in the late 1970s. Born in Penang in 1944, Lim's birth name was romanised as Lim Phaik-Seng, but she later changed her given name to Pik-Sen after noticing that her British friends frequently mispronounced 'Phaik' as 'fake.' She starred in Doctor Who, playing Chin Lee in The Mind of Evil (1971), and appeared in British series such as military drama Spearhead, Coronation Street, Casualty, Holby City and The Bill. Her film credits include Johnny English Reborn (2011), in which she played the Killer Cleaner. More recently, she was the narrator in the Dark Souls video game series and appeared in American TV series Vampire Academy (2022) and The Nevers (2023). The British Film Institute described Lim as 'the most recognisable Chinese actor on British television throughout the 1970s and 80s'. She was fondly remembered by fellow actor Daniel Y Loh in a heartfelt tribute on Facebook. 'I acted on stage in two plays with her as well as numerous readings, workshops, audio etc as well,' Loh wrote. 'A joyous person, full of love and laughter and mischief, she was so much fun to be around and her gift for comedy was such that you always felt safe in front of an audience with her, that absolutely unique voice and vivacious energy carrying us all with her.' Loh recalled their time working together on several productions, including Citizens of Nowhere?, which they performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival the summer before the Covid-19 pandemic. They also shared the stage in a production of Romeo & Juliet, where he played Mercutio opposite Lim's Nurse. 'We've shared the same agent for the last 25 odd years and she'll be hugely missed there as well,' he wrote. – Malay Mail actress died Malaysian Mind Your Language passed away Pik-Sen Lim

Isabella Leong, who once dated a HK billionaire, reportedly in new relationship
Actress Isabella Leong is believed to be dating Chinese actor and director Marc Ma. Photos: Isabella Leong/Instagram, Sin Chew Daily Macau-born actress Isabella Leong, the ex-girlfriend of Hong Kong billionaire Richard Li, has apparently found love again, Sin Chew Daily reported. The 36-year-old recently sparked dating rumours after she was photographed attending an event with Chinese actor and director Marc Ma, who's nine years her senior. The pair were later seen holding hands as they left the venue, appearing happy and relaxed as they chatted and laughed. It's reported that the two had dinner together later in the day. According to Hong Kong media reports, speculation about Leong and Ma's budding romance first surfaced in late 2024, when they were spotted leaving a cafe in Beijing hand-in-hand. The rumours intensified when netizens noted that Leong has been spending much of her time in Beijing in recent years, suggesting it may be because she wants to be closer to Ma, 45. Leong met Li on the set of The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor through Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh in 2008. Both Yeoh and Leong starred in that Hollywood movie. Although she was initially interested in marrying Li – with whom she shares three children – Leong decided to call it quits in February 2011 as she 'couldn't accept' how 'popular' the billionaire was with women. 'I needed more security in my life,' she said in a talk show last year. Meanwhile, Ma began his career as a child actor in the 1991 film Fazike but initially struggled to find a foothold in the industry. After graduating from high school, he left his hometown of Lanzhou and travelled to Beijing to sit for the entrance exam at the Central Academy of Drama which he unfortunately failed. In 2000, Ma found work as a production assistant at a drama production company and later starred in the 2003 series Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils – a role that opened more doors for casting opportunities. He gained fame for his performance in the 2013 film The White Storm , which earned him the Best Newcomer prize at the Hundred Flower Awards.
