Body of British man missing since 2022 found in Georgia by FBI Jacksonville
The body of a British man who disappeared while visiting North Florida in September 2022 was found earlier this month, FBI Jacksonville announced Friday.
The remains of Alex Hodgson Doughty, who was 30 when he disappeared, were found Tuesday, Feb. 4 'in a wooded area on private land near Kingsland, Georgia,' the FBI said in a news release.
FBI Jacksonville said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation positively identified Doughty's remains and said no criminal charges are expected.
According to his case information on NamUS, 'Alexander was last seen in the parking lot of Car Quest after being dropped off by an Uber driver. Approximate time was 1:00 a.m. September 12, 2022. Alexander traveled from Jacksonville, Florida to Kingsland, Georgia.'

Doughty's mother was worried when she lost touch with him during his visit and contacted local police. Since then, state, local, and international agencies have been working to find Doughty.
'While we had hoped to bring Mr. Doughty's family better news, we are thankful to be able to provide them with some closure,' Special Agent in Charge Kristin Rehler said in the release. 'This discovery is the direct result of our partnerships and special agents from FBI Jacksonville's Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST), who were relentless in their efforts to narrow down potential search locations.'

FBI Jacksonville said its CAST 'supports law enforcement investigations through the analysis of historical and real-time mobile communications and geolocation data. CAST experts receive extensive training and are highly proficient at analyzing location data from mobile devices.'
Doughty's family thanked law enforcement and volunteer search teams, who were able to conduct six additional searches for him.
The following agencies assisted FBI Jacksonville in the investigation: State Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit (Northeast Florida), Thames Valley (UK) Police Department, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, and Kingsland (Georgia) Police Department.

Several pounds of suspected ketamine, THC products seized at Guyton home, sheriff's office says
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office Drug Suppression Unit said they arrested a woman after large amounts of drugs and drug paraphernalia was found in a home in Guyton. Investigators said they seized more than 4,800 grams of suspected ketamine during the search. Authorities said they also found nearly 50 pounds of THC edibles, nearly 1,000 THC vape products, several ounces of marijuana, 70 grams of suspected Ecstasy, LSD and a gun. The amount of suspected ketamine seized is roughly equivalent to 10 and a half pounds. Authorities said they arrested 46-year-old Christina Swagert at the scene. She faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Investigators say no additional arrests are expected in this case. BBC will not appeal Gerry Adams' libel case victory
The BBC has confirmed that it will not be appealing Gerry Adams' libel case victory. The former Sinn Féin leader sued the corporation over a 2016 BBC Northern Ireland Spotlight story and online article on the murder of British agent Denis Donaldson. Last month, a jury found Mr Adams, 76, was defamed when it was alleged by an anonymous contributor that he sanctioned the 2006 killing and awarded him €100,000 (£84,000) in damages. The combined legal costs of both parties is estimated at between €3-5m (£2.5-4.2m), according to sources with knowledge of the case. A BBC spokesperson said: "We have given careful consideration to the jury's decision. "We will not be appealing its verdict, bringing this matter to a conclusion. We remain committed to public interest journalism and to serving all BBC audiences." In a statement Gerry Adams said the decision should be "followed by a substantial reform of its internal journalistic processes and a recognition that it cannot continue to be a voice for the British state in Ireland". "It must also become more accountable to the public," he added. "There is an onus on the BBC to ensure that in the future its ethics and journalism reflect the principles and values of a public broadcast service. "As I have already said the damages will be donated to good causes."

Kneecap's legal team for court battle to include Julian Assange lawyer
Irish rap trio Kneecap have named the legal team which will defend band member Liam O hAnnaidh against a terror charge. Rapper O hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, will be represented by a team that includes Gareth Peirce, solicitor for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during his fight against US extradition, and Rosalind Comyn, who has represented Extinction Rebellion protesters in court. The 27-year-old was charged by postal requisition over the alleged display of a Hezbollah flag at a gig at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, in November last year. His legal team also includes Darragh Mackin from Phoenix Law, Brenda Campbell KC, Jude Bunting KC and Blinne Ni Ghralaigh KC. 'Kneecap has played an unrivalled role in standing up for those without a voice in Gaza. They speak truth to power when others shy away. In May, the Metropolitan Police said Kneecap were being investigated by counter-terrorism police after videos emerged allegedly showing the band calling for the deaths of MPs and shouting 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah'. They apologised to the families of murdered MPs but said footage of the incident had been 'exploited and weaponised'. They also said they have 'never supported' Hamas or Hezbollah, which are banned in the UK. In 2024, the band released an eponymous film starring Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender which is a fictionalised retelling of how the band came together and follows the Belfast group on their mission to save their mother tongue through music. Formed in 2017, the group, made up of O hAnnaidh, Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh, are known for their provocative lyrics and merchandise as well as their championing of the Irish language. Their best-known tracks include Get Your Brits Out, Better Way To Live, featuring Grian Chatten from Fontaines DC, and 3Cag. O hAnnaidh is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 18. His lawyers have been approached for comment.
