
Advocate, caretaker found dead in mysterious circumstances in rural Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A 27-year-old advocate N Ramya and her caretaker Puneeth, 20, were found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in Srinivasapura, Nelamangala, Bengaluru Rural.
The incident came to light on Thursday night, when Puneeth entered the house around 8pm and found Ramya hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom.

Her father, Nagaraj, and younger sister had gone out. A distant relative of Nagaraj, Puneeth lived with the family after Nagaraj's wife passed away in 2020.
"Puneeth was very attached to Ramya and he called her Akka (sister). Her death panicked him. He sent a voice message, saying Ramya committed suicide on WhatsApp to a few close family members. Then, he switched off his mobile and hung himself in another room," police said.
Ramya's family members suspect murder. "Based on a statement made by Ramya's family, we have taken up a murder case against unknown persons. Also, the family filed another complaint, saying Puneeth, after coming across Ramya's dead body, committed suicide in sheer panic," a senior police officer said.
"Once we receive the autopsy report of Ramya and Puneeth, we will get a clear picture," the officer said.

Gujarat-based dairy cooperative society Amul has warned customers regarding a scam where fake vouchers are being distributed on WhatsApp and other social media platforms. This scam features the popular 'Amul girl' image alongside the brand's logo, offering ₹ 5,000 to customers when they click a link. In a post on the social media platform X, Amul issued a public interest advisory and wrote, 'We wish to inform you a fake gift voucher message featuring the Amul Girl is being shared on WhatsApp and social media. This voucher has not been created by Amul.' The brand further said, 'In the said message, a webpage link is autogenerated and is misleading the customers to fraudulent websites.' Amul informed that they blacklisted many such links and will take legal action as well against the perpetrators of such a fraudulent scheme. Amul has recommended three measures for customers to prevent falling victim to such scams. Customers are urged to avoid clicking on any such links. Upon receiving such a message or a link, customers must share the information alert with those who have shared the fake message with them. The report also stated that cybercriminals are increasingly using Google's services, including its advertising platform, to target victims. Google's ad services enable offenders to run targeted adverts, often from overseas, leading to a rise in online fraud.

Telangana ACB Conducts Major Raids, Seizes ₹2.7 Lakh in Unaccounted Cash in Anti-Corruption Crackdown
HYDERABAD: In a state-wide crackdown on corruption in transport and sub-registrar offices, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday carried out simultaneous surprise checks at Regional Transport Authority (RTA) checkpoints, RTA offices and sub-registrar offices. Separate searches at the sub-registrar offices in Burgumpadu in Khammam district and Bheemdevarapalli in Warangal district resulted in seizure of another ₹91,000 cash. Investigators recorded multiple irregularities in record keeping and fee collection at the searched offices. Official said detailed reports on suspected corruption would be forwarded to the state govt. The agency urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by calling its 24-hour toll-free helpline 1064 or messaging via WhatsApp on 9440446106. Complaints can be lodged through its Facebook page - Telangana ACB and X handle @TelanganaACB. The identity of whistle-blowers, the ACB assured, will be kept strictly confidential.

Andhra professor duped: Rs 1.9cr lost in fake investment scam; CBI files cyber fraud case
Representative Image HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation in Vishakhapatnam filed a cyber fraud case after a retired JIPMER professor residing on the GITAM University campus in Yendada, Andhra Pradesh, was allegedly defrauded of nearly 2 crore in an online investment scam. In a complaint lodged on June 18, 2025, the complainant, Dr M Batmanabane Mounissamy, a former director and professor at JIPMER in Pondicherry, stated that he had been added to a WhatsApp group called 'H-10 Nuvama Health Group.' This group offered guidance on investing in Nuvama Funds, formerly Edelweiss. As Mounissamy already had investments with Edelweiss, he joined the group. A woman identifying herself as Kangana, who claimed to represent Nuvama Funds, then contacted him. The fraudsters shared a web link ( with him to register for the platform.
