The slimming Nobody's Child one-shoulder dress that gets me compliments every time I wear it
Flattering, waist-cinching and always complimented– this Nobody's Child one-shoulder midi dress is my effortless style fix, says Mirror's Zoe Cripps
There are certain dresses that become staples in your wardrobe because they work for just about every occasion. The Black One Shoulder Crochet Trim Sabrina Midi Dress from Nobody's Child is one of those pieces for me. I ordered it as just another black dress, but it's become the one oiece I find myself reaching for again and again, no matter the occasion.
When I first tried it on, I didn't expect it to be anything out of the ordinary, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it fit and how slim it made me feel. The one-shoulder style is flattering without being overly dramatic, and the midi length is a perfect balance between casual and dressy. I didn't have to think too much about accessorising, either– this dress can hold its own. It's easy, comfortable and feels right for a whole host of occasions.
What makes the Sabrina Midi Dress stand out is how it's seemingly simple, but also incredibly flattering. The waist-cinching design creates a nice shape, but it's not tight or uncomfortable. The fabric drapes well, and the crochet trim adds just enough detail to make the dress interesting without drawing too much attention. It's a piece that looks polished but doesn't need extra time to style – ideal for when you're rushing out of the house for work or for a dinner.
I wear it when I want something reliable, something I know will look good and feel easy to wear. It works whether I'm going to a casual gathering or something a little more formal. I can dress it up with heels or down with sandals, and it still looks great either way.

It's a dress that does what it's supposed to without feeling like it's trying too hard. Whether I'm getting ready quickly or just need something I know will work, this dress is always a reliable choice. If you're looking for a versatile, flattering dress that doesn't require a lot of thought to wear, this one might just be what you're looking for.
However, if you're shopping around, the high street has plenty of affordable designs that could quickly become your own go-to. If you're after a dress for an occasion like a wedding or a birthday, I recently tried 27 designs on from high street brands, and this New Look Zebra Print Maxi Dress reigned supreme.
Alternatively, if co-ords are more your thing, Mirror Style writer Faith picked up Finery London's Vanetia Black Linen Blend Waistcoat for £45 and Athena Black Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers for £49. "The linen blend set ticks all of my wardrobe needs for making sure I look smart and put together without overheating," she says.

Kate shares touching father's day post with family tribute to William
The Princess of Wales has marked Father's Day with a heartwarming tribute to William, their children's "Papa" with touching "before and after" pictures. Sharing two pictures of Prince William surrounded by his children in Norfolk, the heartfelt caption read: "Happy Father's Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & L." The lovely pictures were taken in Norfolk earlier this year by Josh Shinner, according to the tribute posted on X. Father's Day today is all a world away from last year, when Kate was still undergoing her chemotherapy treatment following her cancer diagnosis. Months earlier, Kate was admitted to hospital for major abdominal surgery and William immediately cleared his diary to be there for not just his wife, but his three children too. He later opened up on a trip to South Africa saying it had been a 'brutal' year for the family and one of the hardest of his life as he also dealt with his father, the King's cancer diagnosis. But 12 months on, and the Waleses are in a very different place, and former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond tells the Mirror that this Father's Day will be one where Kate will especially want to show her appreciation for her husband for all he does as a dad. She explained: "I'm sure Catherine will want to make a real fuss of William after the year and a half they've been through. The truth is, though, that they'll probably both be rather knackered because Trooping the Colour was the day before! So they'll probably be spending Father's Day at home in Windsor - or very possibly with Catherine's family in Berkshire. "Last year Catherine posted a beautiful Father's Day picture of William and the children with their backs to the camera, on a Norfolk beach, staring out to sea. "It was a touching portrait of a dad with protective arms around his children and I'm sure it represented how grateful the princess was for the rock-solid support and love that William has given her throughout their marriage - but particularly through the emotional turmoil of cancer treatment." When it comes to bringing up their children, it has become clear this is more important than anything else to William and Kate. Family nearly always comes first and this was no more so evident than at Easter when the couple decided to skip the traditional Easter Sunday church service with the King and Queen at Windsor to spend precious family time together - all with the King's blessing. The pair are also very hands-on with their children, doing the school run and ferrying the kids to their various afterschool sports clubs and activities. On many royal engagements, William and Kate talk about George's love of football, Charlotte's interest in dancing and Louis' lessons in learning to play the drums. And Jennie believes Kate in particular appreciates how different William is from most royal parents of the past. She said: "Both he and Harry learned from their mother that parents can be fun and funny, loving and tactile, hands-on and cuddly. Charles was some of these things too, but he was always extremely busy with his work. From the off, though, William has been very obviously hands-on - helping to strap newborn George into the car seat all those years ago (with some trepidation) and sharing all the fun and sleep deprivation of life with a tiny baby. "Diana once told me that the country was very lucky to have William. I think Catherine is very lucky to have him as well. I think they have put on a united front about their priorities at this stage of their lives: family comes first and sometimes duty has to be put on a bit of a back burner." The tight-knit family life that William and Kate have managed to create with their children at their Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor has come all with the blessing of the King. He too has also had to endure receiving his own cancer diagnosis and is still receiving weekly treatment for his condition. His diagnosis came after he underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate at the beginning of 2024 and he spent time at the London Clinic at the same time as Kate recovered from her major surgery. As their stays in hospital overlapped, sources revealed the King would 'toddle' down the hospital corridors to check in on his recovering daughter-in-law to offer encouragement and support. And Jennie said: "In this, they have both had the full support of King Charles – and I think Catherine has very much appreciated this attitude from her father-in-law. Their shared cancer journey has also brought them closer together and I think there's genuine affection between them. "He refers to her as his beloved daughter-in-law and, in some ways, I think she is the daughter he always wanted. I remember Diana telling me about how much Charles had hoped their second child would be a girl." Be first to get the biggest royal bombshells and exclusives to your phone by joining our . Jorgie Porter explains why she's yet to marry fiancé four years after engagement
Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter, who has son Forest and daughter Peony, has candidly opened up on motherhood and plans to marry Oliver Piotrowski after a four year-long engagement Soap actress Jorgie Porter has revealed she still is yet to plan her wedding to beau Oliver Piotrowski, despite getting engaged four years ago. Hollyoaks star Jorgie, 37, announced her engagement to her real estate developer beau Oliver towards the end of 2021. She shared the joyous news on her Instagram at the time, posting a photo of herself with Oliver flashing her huge new rock. She simply captioned the post: 'OMG.' Four years on, the pair have welcomed two wonderful children together; Forest, two, and Peony, who was born in December. In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, at the Pro Am Padel tour launch event, Jorgie revealed why the pair are yet to walk down the aisle and say 'I do'. When asked if there are any wedding plans, Jorgie jokes about her lengthy engagement. 'How long? Four years I think! I didn't plan this,' she quips. The soap star mum then reveals why there is yet to be wedding bells for her a Oliver. 'No I'm stupid at planning, I'm a bad planner,' she confesses. 'Because whenever I've had Hollyoaks work we never are scheduled so I never know what day it is. We even work on Saturdays. You can ask me now what day it is, I don't know. I don't know the day, the month, because you have to always be ready to work because they can call you up because… 'So planning for me is just… I'm waiting for the wedding to come to me I think. It'll just come when it's ready. Maybe a padel wedding, I'm joking!,' she quipped while at the Pro Am Padel tour event. Jorgie gave birth to Peony in December and has candidly admitted to the Mirror that motherhood to two children is very different than it is to being a mum to one. When asked how she's finding the new phase of motherhood, Jorgie tells the Mirror: 'It's hard. Nobody tells you that it's the hardest thing in the world because you've got a toddler that wants all your attention and you've, obviously, got a little baby that's attached to you, literally that is another level of mum-ness. It is hard. We're in the trenches, this is the trenches we're deep in there.' Juggling two children is tricky for a number of reasons, but Jorgie reveals she finds her son Forest's jealousy particularly difficult – but is making slow progress helping her eldest adjust to the new family dynamic. She explains: 'Honestly, it's great but I think there's jealousy bits when the toddler is like, 'you're my mummy, get off this one, put her in the carseat', like, 'No Forest, we're cuddling her'. 'It's tricky because he can't understand that I'm her Mummy, too. But he does know, it's weird. It's very hard to navigate. It's going there, it's brilliant. I think there's everyday you go, 'Oh that's a win, that's brilliant, we're out together in a pram, we did it'. So it is going well.' The Pro Am Padel Tour continues in July, September, and October. Marks & Spencer's 'stylish' £50 bubble hem dress garners 'so many compliments'
With occasionwear season officially here, we've found the perfect stylish and subtle midaxi dress that will take you through the summer from Marks & Spencer Marks & Spencer is back taking online orders after the cyber attack, and as always, their current spring/summer collection is filled with stylish and elevated pieces that will really up your fashion game. One dress in particular that caught our eye was the Pure Cotton Bubble Hem Midaxi Dress. With summer basically here, plus the races and weddings looming, finding the perfect dress you can wear to these different occasions is no mean feat, but we think this midaxi is the versatile summer dress to get your hands one. And at £49.50, this dress definitely isn't breaking the bank. Combining two trends in one, this black dress features a stylish bubble hem detail, as well as a flattering drop waist. Despite featuring more micro-trendy elements, the sleek black colour and classic silhouette mean this dress will last in your wardrobe for years to come. To style this midaxi, we suggest keeping it simple with a pair of gold or silver mules (depending on which you prefer), and a matching clutch or grab bag, and minimalist jewellery. Additionally, if you're more of a maximalist, you could team leopard or zebra print accessories to make the look pop. We're not the only ones who are loving this versatile dress, shoppers are already leaving their reviews, praising the piece for its high quality and flattering fit. One shopper wrote: "Couldn't resist this dress despite having to try on several sizes before finding best fit (it's on the small side). The design quality becomes apparent once on with a drop waist, great if you are tall and long in the body, and the bubble hem. It's also nicely lined and the cut out back still enables you to wear a bra. Please continue to provide such design quality please M&S." While a second shared how the dress got them heaps of compliments when they wore it. They added: "So many compliments wearing this dress. The dress is beautiful, I felt really nice in it, and lots and lots of women asked me where it was from." As briefly mentioned above, a few people criticised the sizing of the dress, claiming it runs rather small, so we suggest sizing up from your usual size, especially if you are in between. If black isn't your thing, we think we've found another stylish but low-key summer occasion dress you can wear to every event. The Butter Yellow Puff Sleeve Zola Midi Dress, £120, from Nobody's Child is in one of the biggest colour trends of the year, butter yellow. This stylish midi features a flattering empire waistline, which can help to balance the silhouette and elongate the torso.
