Washington Launches Investigation into Leak of "Top Secret" Intelligence Report on Iran Strikes - Jordan News
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that an investigation has been launched into the leak of a preliminary intelligence report prepared by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) regarding the recent American strikes on Iran. اضافة اعلان Speaking to reporters in The Hague, Netherlands, on Wednesday, Hegseth confirmed that the U.S. airstrikes had destroyed Iran's nuclear capability. He described the media coverage of the leaked intelligence report—which he called 'Top Secret'—as 'politically motivated.' 'We've launched an investigation with the FBI into the leak of this report,' Hegseth said. 'It was an internal document, and networks like CNN and others tried to discredit the highly successful President Donald Trump.' He also referred to President Trump's remarks during a press conference, in which Trump stated that the bombs had hit their intended targets precisely and caused the anticipated damage. 'Iran knows this too,' Hegseth added. 'If you want to assess what happened at the Fordow facility,' he said, 'you'll need a big shovel and to dig deep—because Iran's nuclear program has been destroyed.' He again criticized the media for publishing the leaked report. The initial intelligence assessment, obtained and published by CNN, stated that the U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend likely did not destroy the core infrastructure of Iran's nuclear program, but rather set it back by only a few months. On June 13, Israel, backed by the United States, launched a 12-day assault on Iran that targeted military and nuclear sites, civilian infrastructure, and involved the assassination of military leaders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded by striking Israeli military and intelligence targets with ballistic missiles and drones. Following Iran's missile retaliation and the heavy losses inflicted on Israel, the U.S. launched its own airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22. In response, Iran struck the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. On June 24, the U.S. announced a ceasefire between Tel Aviv and Tehran.
There remains considerable ambiguity and conflicting narratives regarding the extent and impact of the damage to Iran's nuclear facilities. Tehran has only stated that the sites were "heavily damaged" and insists the Israeli-American offensive failed to achieve its objectives, without offering detailed explanations. Meanwhile, Israel and the U.S. maintain that the Iranian nuclear program has been destroyed or set back for years. (Anadolu Agency)

Hamas issues statement praising West Bank resistance
The Palestinian resistance group Hamas on Thursday praised the courage of residents in the occupied West Bank who continue to confront attacks by 'Israeli' settlers, while also mourning the death of a senior Iranian commander killed in an 'Israeli' strike. In a statement, Hamas commended the 'bravery of the people of Turmus Ayya and all areas of the West Bank,' describing their defense against what it called 'terrorist settler attacks' as a reflection of Palestinian steadfastness and refusal to surrender their land and rights. 'The crimes of the occupation and its settlers in the West Bank will not shake our people's determination nor their hold on their land,' said Hamas official Abdul Rahman Shadid. 'The occupation must bear full responsibility for the consequences of its ongoing crimes across the West Bank. Our people will not abandon the path of resistance.' Shadid reaffirmed that armed resistance remains a legitimate right under occupation and vowed that Palestinians would continue defending their land and holy sites 'by all possible means.' In a separate statement, Hamas announced the death of Brigadier General Saeed Izadi, known as Hajj Ramadan, a senior officer in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and head of the 'Palestine file.' Izadi was killed in an 'Israeli' airstrike during the recent escalation targeting Iranian positions. Hamas called Izadi a 'pillar of support' for Palestinian resistance movements and hailed his decades of commitment to the Palestinian cause. 'With deep faith in God's decree, we mourn the martyrdom of the commander Saeed Izadi, who rose to heaven as a martyr in a treacherous assassination during the Zionist aggression on the Islamic Republic of Iran,' Hamas said in its official statement. Hamas offered condolences to Iran's leadership, people, and the family of the slain commander, praising Tehran for its consistent support for Palestine. 'The blood of this great leader, along with the many martyrs who have fallen on this path, will remain fuel for the resistance until liberation,' the statement concluded.

European summit condemns Gaza crisis, demands full blockade lift
European Summit strongly condemned the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the worsening famine and the large number of civilian casualties resulting from ongoing military operations and the blockade imposed on the territory. In their statement, EU leaders called on 'Israel' to fully lift the blockade and allow unhindered access for humanitarian aid, stressing the need to ensure a safe and regular flow of assistance to civilians in Gaza. The summit also denounced the recent escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including settler violence and settlement expansion, as well as the continued 'Israeli' military operations in the West Bank. The leaders emphasized that these violations undermine prospects for peace and stability in the region. Furthermore, the statement announced that the European Summit will discuss a report in July assessing 'Israel's' compliance with the partnership agreement it has with the EU, amid growing concerns over Tel Aviv's obligations to international law and human rights.
