
Rupee up 24 paise against USD
Mumbai, May 26 (UNI) The rupee on Monday advanced 24 paise at 85.04 in early trade on brisk selling of the US dollar by bankers and exporters at the Forex market.
The domestic unit was seen as stronger due to a softer dollar against other world currencies, along with a strong opening in the stock market, the dealer informed.
The rupee recorded intraday highs and lows at 85.00 and 85.18, respectively, the dealer added.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on three-day visit to France, to strengthen economic ties
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is on a three-day visit to France during which he will hold bilateral meetings with the French Ministers of Economy and Trade to strengthen the economic partnership. While in France, he will also engage in informal WTO Ministers' gathering on the margins of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, and will also hold bilateral engagements with trade ministers of the UK, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Nigeria and Brazil. The Commerce Minister is on a visit to France and to Italy from June 1-5, as part of India's commitment to deepening strategic and economic ties with key European partners and advancing a shared vision for resilient and inclusive global growth. During his engagements in France, Goyal is to hold bilateral meetings with French Ministers, including Eric Lombard, Minister of Economy, and Laurent Saint-Martin, French Trade Minister. The discussions will focus on strengthening the Indo-French economic partnership and exploring new avenues for enhancing trade and investment cooperation, a statement said. As part of the high-level visit to France, a comprehensive agenda of strategic business meetings and engagements has been scheduled - with top leadership of major French companies such as Vicat, Total Energies, L'Oréal, Renault, Valeo, EDF and ATR, the visit will feature the India-France Business Round Table and the India-France CEO Forum, fostering dialogue between leading industry stakeholders from both countries. During his stay, the Minister will also participate in the informal gathering of WTO Ministers on the margins of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting. At this crucial forum, he will engage with global counterparts on key multilateral trade issues and articulate the perspectives and priorities of India. As part of the visit, the Minister will hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with key international partners. These include the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds; Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong; and Saudi Arabia's Minister of Commerce, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kasabi. Minister Goyal will also engage with Israel's Minister for Trade and Investment, Nir Barkat; Nigeria's Minister for Trade, Industry and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole OON; and Brazil's Foreign Minister, Mauro Luis Iecker Vieira. These dialogues are aimed at advancing strategic economic cooperation and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships across regions. They will also provide significant impetus to India-EU FTA negotiations. Further reinforcing India's engagement with regional blocs, meetings are planned with key EU officials, including Maroš Šefčovič, Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Interinstitutional Relations and Transparency, and Christophe Hansen, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food. Sensex crashes over 600 pts
Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday dropped 610.30 pts at 80,840.71 in early trade on weak global cues. Even US tariff concern hit the market further. The Nifty fell 182 pts at 24,567.30. The BSE Sensex opened on a weak note at 81,214.42, falling 237 pts, it was immediately tanked more than 600 pts to 80,840.71 pts. As it registered intra-day high and low at 81,285.85 and 80,802.60 respectively. The Nifty registered days high at 24,717.55 and low at 24,559.45 pts. Selling was seen across the board, especially IT, Metal and Focused IT were down more than 1 percent. The Mid cap eased 0.28 pc and small cap by 0.45 pc. In 30 scrips, 7 advanced while 23 declined. The losers were L& T by 1.90 pc to Rs 3605.90, Tata Steel by 1.74 pc to Rs 158.20, Infosys by 1.38 pc to Rs 1401 and HCL Technology by 1.36 pc to Rs 1615.25. The gainers were Hind Unilever by 1.22 pc to Rs 2378, Nestle India Ltd by 0.52 pc to Rs 2409.10, Adani Ports by 0.43 pc to Rs 1438.55 and Eternal by 0.31 pc to Rs 239.50. Trump to announce new nominee to lead NASA
Washington, June 1 (UNI) U.S. President Donald Trump will soon announce a new nominee for the head of NASA, following his decision to withdraw former candidate Jared Isaacman, a close ally of Elon Musk, an official said. "After a thorough review of prior associations, I am hereby withdrawing the nomination of Jared Isaacman to head NASA," Trump wrote on his Truth Social site. "I will soon announce a new Nominee who will be Mission aligned, and put America First in Space." Late last year, Trump named Isaacman, a billionaire and private astronaut, as the nominee for NASA chief. The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved his nomination in late April.
