These Motorola phones should be updated to Android 16
The fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the U.S. is Motorola and while still not the fastest at updating its Android phones, it is showing improvements. Today, YTECHB released a list of Motorola handsets it expects will receive Android 16 based on promises made by Motorola. Budget models like the Moto G series receive one to two major Android updates and 2 to 3 years of bi-monthly security updates. Some budget models received only one update if they had been launched late in an Android version's cycle.
Mid-range models such as the Moto Edge will typically receive 2 to 3 years of major Android updates and and 3 to 4 years of bi-monthly security updates. Flagship models, including the Edge+ phones, Razr foldables, and the ThinkPhone end up with 3 major Android OS updates and 4 years of bi-monthly security updates. One model, the Moto Edge 50 Neo, was promised 5 years of both Android and security updates.
Remember the days when Motorola was one of the leaders pushing out new Android phones so quickly. The company's DROID was the first real iPhone challenger in 2009; it was the first handset powered by Android 2.0 Eclair, which included free turn-by-turn Google Maps directions. Some phones not listed above that still could end up with Android 16 include the Razr 2024, Moto G35, and the Moto G15. It's one thing to know that these models will be updated. It's also important to know when these updates will be released. While Motorola didn't mention any time frames, we can assume that more recent models like the Moto Edge 60 line will be updated before the Motorola Edge 40 Pro receives Android 16 .
Keep in mind that this is not an official list but is based on Motorola's update policy and promises made when these handsets were unveiled. Hopefully, your Motorola phone is included in the list.

For a 2025 event, this year's Worldwide Developers Conference was a tad underwhelming. For Apple users though, it was everything they could have asked for. Last year was a rude awakening for the company, but it was exactly what it needed to get off its high horse. At its annual software conference last year, Apple teased a myriad of AI-powered features. Those features were also touted as the main selling point of the iPhone 16. It took a long time for the company to admit that the flashiest features wouldn't be shipping anytime soon. Not only was this an admission that it was struggling with AI but it also raised speculations that it only promised vaporware, though the company insists that's not way, the situation was quite embarrassing for the company, which could be why it reversed course this year and made interface makeovers the focal point of its software presentation. Samsung continues to churn out similar phones for different markets
It's probably safe to say that Samsung is the champion of entry- and mid-level phones when it comes to quantity. The South Korean company has a certain marketing strategy that usually results in similar phones being launched in different markets with different Samsung continues to do that, it's probably working, even though this somewhat artificially expands the company's portfolio of new phones. Speaking of new phones, Samsung is about to launch another affordable phone that goes by the name of Galaxy F36 Galaxy F36 5G was recently spotted on the Google Play Console website, and while the picture posted there is very small, it's just enough to let us make an idea about what the phone looks like. Long story short, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy F36 5G won't stand out thanks to its design. The phone features a triple camera on the back with a vertical island that groups the sensors 2+1 to different them. The LED flash is positioned to the right of the camera. The large display and rather slim bezels are probably the phone's strongest points. The Galaxy F36 5G features a waterdrop notch that houses the selfie of the phone's specs are part of the listing on Google Play Console, but they aren't that exciting. First off, the phone is powered by a 2-year-old Exynos 1380 processor, paired with 6GB RAM. The size and quality of the panel remain a mystery for the time being. The Galaxy F36 5G isn't similar to any of the phones Samsung launched yet, or at least it doesn't seem to be from the information we have so far. However, the Google Play Console listing reveals a couple of other Samsung phones that are expected to be introduced very soon, which are likely to be different versions of the Galaxy F36 5G: Galaxy M36 5G and Galaxy Jump 4. The Galaxy M36 5G, just like the Galaxy F36 5G, might be launched in India later this month, while the Galaxy Jump 4 could be a different version meant for the South Korean market.
