‘Gorgeous girl': Ash Barty announces birth of daughter Jordan
Retired Australian tennis star Ash Barty has announced the birth of her first daughter, Jordan.
Barty and her husband, golf professional Garry Kissick, already have a son, Hayden, born almost two years ago.
The former world No 1 and Kissick revealed the arrival of their 'gorgeous girl' in a joint Instagram post on Monday.
'Welcome to the world, Jordan' the parents said. 'You are loved unconditionally and we are so grateful to have you in our arms, gorgeous girl.'
The post, which included a photo of baby Jordan in a white beanie, has sparked a wave of congratulations and well wishes.
Barty's former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua was one of the first to congratulate the second-time parents.
'Hi gorgeous Jordan,' Dellacqua said. 'Can't wait to cuddle you soon. Good job mum and dad.'
Australia's 2011 US Open singles champion, Sam Stosur, wrote, 'Congrats Ash and Garry. How exciting to welcome Jordan into your family … she's a lucky girl.'

Barty won the 2022 Australian Open, 2021 Wimbledon and 2019 French Open titles but shocked the tennis world by deciding to call time on her tennis career at the age of 25.
Her retirement from competitive tennis came just seven weeks after she ended Australia's 44-year singles title drought in Melbourne.

The former Young Australian of the Year said at the time of her retirement that tennis would aways hold a special place in her heart, but she was looking forward to a life without the stresses of playing on the women's tour.
The three-time grand slam champion has since returned to play an invitational doubles match during Wimbledon last year.
Barty has dabbled in golf and was the headline act in the Icons series, a teams exhibition event featuring former golfers and retired athletes from other sports, in 2022.
Barty married Kissick in July 2022, exchanging vows in a private ceremony in Queensland.

Shocking footage has emerged of two men squaring off in a heated altercation during an U10s footy match in Sydney this weekend. Radio 2GB published footage on Monday appearing to show a parent and another individual - who the broadcaster said was a coach of one of the teams - appearing to fight on the pitch. The incident is said to have taken place on Sunday during a game between the South Eastern Seagulls and the Redfern All Blacks at Heffron Park. The coach was seen appearing to make contact with the parent, who was walking backwards. The man, fell down to the ground in front of multiple junior players, leaving onlookers shocked. Broadcaster Mark Levy revealed he had been in contact with the parent, who had opened up on the details of the tense spat, while speaking of his concern for the children of both sides. Levy said the man had told him: 'Look, Mark, I'm just concerned for the kids because the fear in their eyes is heartbreaking.' The man then heartbreakingly revealed that his son had told him after the game: 'Dad, I don't want to play anymore.' Levy, then called for 'abuse, violence, intimidation' at junior footy matches around the country 'to stop', outraged by the video. The radio broadcaster then revealed that he too has seen this sort of thing first hand on the pitch before, having previously refereed junior footy, but spoke of his concerns at why violence is continuing to happen at local footy matches. 'Kids sport on the weekend is supposed to be about having some fun and getting some exercise, but sadly, we've got these parents who are trying to fulfil their sporting dreams through their kids,' he added. The video is the latest in a concerning rise in the number of ugly incidents taking place at junior footy matches, not just in Australia, but around the world. In the UK last week, a clip of a woman went viral as she appeared to boo a young player who was taking a kick at goal during a junior BARLA semi-final match. Back in February, Sydney team Fairfield Hotspurs had been hosting an Under 7s football tournament, when a mass brawl broke out on the touchline between spectators.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen's father convicted of assault but avoids jail
The father of Jakob Ingebrigtsen has been convicted of assaulting his daughter but acquitted of abusing the double Olympic champion. After a seven-week trial, which included conflicting statements from multiple family members, a court in their hometown of Sandnes found that Gjert Ingebrigtsen did hit Ingrid with a wet towel but that there was reasonable doubt over accusations that he abused Jakob. Gjert, who had coached Jakob, as well as his brothers Henrik and Filip to major international success over 1500 metres and 5,000m, has been fined 10,000 krone (£744) and received a suspended 15-day jail sentence for the assault on Ingrid. The court was shown a photograph of Ingrid with a red mark on her face. Judges in the case did not find, as was alleged by Ingrid and the three brothers, that he had overseen a family environment that was characterised by fear and violence. Gjert Ingebrgtsen had denied the charges and his lawyer, John Christian Elden, said that he was 'relieved' by the court's verdict. 'This case has no winners, and today's verdict shows that all those affected have been exposed to an enormous burden that should have been avoided,' said Elden. Jakob's legal aid lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen said that the 24-year-old Olympic, world and European champion was now 'concerned with moving on' after starting 'a new life in January 2022, when he broke with his father and broke with the regime he has experienced'. The verdict states: 'The court considers one side's version of family life and the relationship between the defendant and Jakob is not particularly more likely than the other.' They also highlighted how another brother, Martin, had spoken in defence of his father. 'The significant difference is that he describes it as a safe and good home without violence or threats, despite the fact that the defendant could be quarrelsome, loud and argumentative,' said the court. 'The court cannot disregard his explanation. His explanation is difficult to reconcile with the prosecution's claim that Jakob was subjected to violence… or abuse throughout much of his childhood.' Jakob had alleged that he was abused both physically and mentally from 2008 until 2018. The prosecutor had requested a prison sentence of more than two-and-a-half years. A total of Nkr400,000 (£29,800) in compensation was also suggested for the two siblings. Ingrid Ingebrigtsen, 19, has not lived at home since the towel incident in January 2022. The three brothers split from being coached by Gjert shortly after the incident before writing a newspaper article in 2023 which alleged that they had been subjected to physical violence. Gjert, who has always denied criminal behaviour, has continued to coach Jakob's Norway team-mates Narve Gilje Nordas and Per Svela. Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the 1500m at the Tokyo Olympics before following that up with 5,000m gold in Paris last year. He also won the 1500m and 3,000m double at both the European and World Indoor Championships earlier this year but the start of his outdoor track season has been delayed by an Achilles tendon injury.
