Man already charged in two cases of criminal sexual conduct with a child charged a third time
Feb. 10—The third case of criminal sexual conduct with a minor has been brought against a Mapleview man.
Joshua Alan Lamaack, 44, made a first appearance in Mower County District Court Monday morning to face two more charges of felony first degree criminal sexual conduct of a minor.
According to the court complaint, the victim in this newest case spoke to a detective with the Mower County Sheriff's Office regarding the alleged sexual assaults by Lamaack, which allegedly started when the victim lived in a home in rural Mower County.
The complaint alleges that the abuse began when the victim was five and continued when the family moved to Austin all the way through until the victim was around 13 or 14 years old.
The victim estimated that the abuse at one point escalated to every day and that sometimes it included multiple times during a day as well as several locations around Austin and Mapleview.
Lamaack allegedly told the victim once that if he said anything then Lamaack would harm a family member.
The victim told the detective that Lamaack abused him hundreds of times throughout the span and went on to say that the effects of the alleged abuse continued on well after the attacks stopped and that he has been diagnosed with Child Sexual Abuse Trauma Personal History.
Lamaack was first charged in November of 2023 with felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, penetration or contact with a person under 13 and felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree-injury-use of force/coerce.
In that case he was accused of sexually abusing a child from the time he was 11 to around 17-years-old.
He was charged again in July of 2024 with three more felony counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. Two of those are related to the victim being under 13 to 15, and the third is for the use of a dangerous weapon.
In that second case, Assistant County Attorney Scott Springer advised in a court filing that if convicted the state would seek an aggravated sentence based on the age making the victim particularly vulnerable, the cruelty of the assaults and that the offense occurred in the victim's zone of privacy.
Lamaack is alleged to have committed the assaults from the time the victim was five-years-old into the mid teens. It was also alleged that Lamaack would be physically violent and that on a few of the occasions Lamaack used a knife to threaten the victim claiming at one point that if Lamaack would go to prison he would kill the victim.
Lamaack's next court date in this latest case is scheduled for an initial appearance on Feb. 24.
He is also slated for a jury trial for the previous cases on Sept. 29 with a pretrial scheduled before that on Sept. 19.

His oldest son charmed the House in April 2021 when May brought him to visit for his third birthday and the boy practiced his parade wave around the chamber. But that stopped in October, when federal prosecutors filed court papers saying the investigators seized a number of electronic devices from May, and they anticipated filing a criminal indictment. The documents provided no further details, but speculation has grown about the case. Many have distanced themselves from May, who during the current session could largely be seen at his corner desk in the back of the 124-seat chamber, mixing with very few colleagues.

TAIPEI, June 12 — A Singaporean woman has been sentenced to six months in jail in Taiwan for stalking and harassing Golden Melody Award-winning singer Olivia Tsao Ya-wen, after her obsession with the star escalated into threats and public confrontation. According to The Straits Times, Cassandra Low, a woman in her 30s, was found guilty by the New Taipei District Court of endangering the personal safety of Tsao, and of offences including stalking, harassment and public insult. The court's verdict, published on June 5, followed months of troubling behaviour that forced the singer and her agent to leave their homes. Low, described in court documents as a long-time fan of Tsao, began contacting the singer via personal emails and messages on Facebook and Instagram from November 2023. However, her behaviour took a dark turn after she was blocked on social media by Tsao. According to the judgment, Low reacted by posting threats and abuse directed at the singer, her family, and her agent. In one Facebook post, she wrote: 'I can be very aggressive. The more stubborn she is... don't blame me for whatever I do to her parents.' In another, she said: 'Blocking me, see how I slowly let her agent die.' The online threats eventually drove both Tsao and her agent to leave their residences in New Taipei City out of fear for their safety. The situation intensified in February when Low followed Tsao to Banqiao high-speed rail station after learning the singer was travelling. Baltimore County gym teacher accused of sexually abusing minor on high school property
A Baltimore County high school gym teacher is facing charges for allegedly sexually abusing a minor on school property, according to police. Sean Brooks, 40, is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. He is a physical education teacher at Perry Hall High School, according to a letter shared by Principal Abbey Campbell. "These charges are deeply disturbing, and this alleged behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated," Campbell said. Teacher barred from school property Brooks has worked at Perry Hall High School since 2017. School leaders say he is on administrative leave and is barred from Baltimore County Public Schools property. "Ensuring a safe learning environment for our students is our top priority," Campbell said. Former student accuses teacher of assault In May, WJZ reported that a high school student filed a lawsuit against the Baltimore County school board, saying she was assaulted by a teacher in the classroom. The girl described the assault by her AP Spanish teacher when she walked into the classroom at Overlea High School two years ago. "She stood up, grabbed me by the hoodie and started punching me over and over and over again and she finally let go," Maysha Tuyas-Perez told WJZ. "I don't remember how many times she punched me." The girls' family filed the lawsuit against the school board over negligence and claiming that the school failed to provide a safe space for students and proper staff training. The family is seeking over $75,000 in damages. Anne Arundel County teacher on trial for sex abuse of students A former Anne Arundel County school teacher is on trial for allegedly sexually abusing multiple students at Severna Park Elementary School. Matthew Schlegel, 45, who was a third-grade math teacher, allegedly sexually abused eight students during class between August 2022 and March 2024. He is facing 33 counts of assault and sexual abuse of a minor. Schlegel was removed from the classroom in March 2024 after the district learned of the allegations, a spokesperson for the Anne Arundel County schools said. He had been employed with the school district since 2008. He became a teacher at Severna Park Elementary in 2016. Earlier in the trial, the mother of one of the alleged victims took the stand, saying that her daughter is "not the same child that she was before her third-grade year."
