Two charged in Rowan County forklift and pickup truck theft
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people have been charged after being caught stealing a forklift, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
On March 30, deputies responded to the report on Karriker Farm Road in Salisbury. The forklift was found about 8 miles away on Cooper Road, being operated by Richard Casey Webb, who was with Christy Lane Tipton.
Witnesses saw Webb drive a Ford Ranger pickup to the location on Karriker Farm Road and was later seen driving away in the forklift. Officials said the stolen forklift was used to pick up the Ford Ranger, which was also reportedly stolen, and remove it from the area.
The Ford Ranger was found on Deal Road and had several items in the truck bed that were confirmed to have been stolen from other locations.
Webb and Tipton were both charged with possession of the stolen forklift. Webb was also reportedly charged with damage to real property when he damaged the field that he drove across and left the Ford Ranger in the woods.
Both suspects were booked into the Rowan County Detention Center. Tipton received a $1,000 secured bond, and Webb received no bond due to the pretrial integrity act.
Authorties say more charges could be pending from Tipton and Webb allegedly being involved in other reports of stolen items from over the weekend.
