‘Middle finger': Man drove dad's car into ocean on Jacksonville Beach, police say
A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after police say he drove his father's car into the ocean on Jacksonville Beach.
Joshua Kuss, 21, was taken to the Duval County Jail on a charge of criminal mischief, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
Officers were called to the 2000 block of Beach Proper North about a car in the ocean.
Responding officers made sure no one was in or around the car in distress, then ran the tag to find who the car belonged to.
They went to the home of Kuss's father, who said he had allowed Kuss to borrow the car, and he hadn't returned it.

Officers located Kuss after his father pinged his phone.
Kuss drove the car to the 2000 block Beach Proper North entrance and 'initially attempted to use a cinder block to send the car into the ocean, but the block kept getting stuck on the brake,' the report said.
He then 'removed the block, got into the driver's seat, turned on all the lights, and ensured no one was nearby before accelerating the vehicle into the ocean,' the report said.

The report said, 'While driving, he grinned and wished he could point his middle finger at his father and aunt.'
Kuss then got out of the car and returned to his mother's house, the report said.
Kuss's father decided to press charges as he reported a loss of $6,500.

‘Our next police officers' Pigeon Forge Police Department launches first-ever junior police academy
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Pigeon Forge Police Department wrapped up its first-ever junior police academy for children between 12 and 16 years old. The class serves as a way to get the children involved with law enforcement early. The group of 24 learned everything from de-escalation tactics to how to properly put on handcuffs. The Junior Cadets went through training exercises that simulated what police officers have to do often. Some of that included hand-to-hand combat, which in this case served as a lesson in self-defense, clearing rooms, and taking a written test that went over everything they learned this week. Mashburn was right in the middle of a lot of the training that went on. He said it was great seeing the children be able to have fun while learning. 'In talking to them, it's not about fighting, it's about taking care of yourself and defending yourself, but if you have to, you know how to defend yourself properly. Mashburn said he put his body on the line for one of the taser learning sessions today, hoping the children, seeing what happened instill a respect for law enforcement and show them not to run from the law. 'That tazing does not feel good,' Mashburn explained. 'They saw that, so they know not to run from the law, do what we tell you, it was neat to see that.' Lee's Summit community mourns loss of 14-year-old killed in bicycle crash
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — Heartbreak has ripped through the Lee's Summit community after 14-year-old Noah Lakey, an outgoing eighth grader at Summit Lakes Middle School, was killed while riding his bike. According to police, Lakey was riding along the sidewalk near SW Jefferson Road and SW Scherer Road when he entered the westbound lane and collided with a vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. WATCH: Video of Woods Cross helicopter crash aftermath Friday morning
WOODS CROSS, Utah () — Police said a pilot at the SkyPark Airport in Woods Cross is very lucky after his helicopter crashed on takeoff early Friday morning. The aftermath of the crash can be seen on video. Video courtesy of Keaton Hoskins The helicopter is on the ground, laying on its side, and the rotors have broken off. The tail of the helicopter can be seen snapped in half. The bottom railing of the helicopter was also separated from the body of the aircraft. Debris is scattered around the scene. Sean Jones, an officer with the Woods Cross Police Department, said the pilot was taking off from the regional airport when he main rotor of the helicopter clipped the airplane hangar. The collision reportedly destroyed the rotor and caused the tail of the helicopter to break off, demolishing the vehicle. The pilot, who was the only occupant of the helicopter, was able to walk away from the crash with only minor scratches.
