2025 PFL World Tournament 1 video: Thad Jean scores vicious knockout, hollers at Dakota Ditcheva

USA Today04-04-2025

Thad Jean's post-fight callout was an unconventional one, to say the least.
Jean (9-0), who came through the PFL challenger series in 2023, picked up a nasty finish at Thursday's 2025 PFL World Tournament 1 in Orlando, Fla. He dropped Mukhamed Berkhamov (17-3) with a crisp left hand, and then jumped on him with some vicious ground-and-pound to seal the deal at 4:25 of Round 1.
After the finish, in his in-cage-post-fight interview, Jean had a message for 2024 PFL women's flyweight champion Dakota Ditcheva.
'By the way, where's Dakota Ditcheva?' Jean said. 'Why is she not here? No, never mind, don't say nothing. I want to see you June 12, Nashville. I'm not saying anything, though, come.'
STATEMENT. MADE. 🦍🔥

Interesting callout aside, Jean continues to build momentum, still undefeated in MMA and adding his fifth career finish by TKO/KO. Jean, who trains out of Fight Sports Deerfield Beach in Florida, is now slatted to take on the winner of the 2025 PFL World Tournament 1 main event between Andrey Koreshkov and Jason Jackson.

Who won the Bryce Huff trade between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles

Who won the Bryce Huff trade between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The San Francisco 49ers agreed on a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to bring edge rusher Bryce Huff to the Bay Area in exchange for what was initially reported as a "mid-round" draft pick. Advertisement We now officially know the exchange included a conditional fifth-round pick that could turn into a fourth based on Huff's performance with the 49ers. Judging by both teams' situations, you could argue that they both came away winners here. San Francisco was facing a mass exodus of quality defensive players this offseason and needed help on the edge opposite of Nick Bosa. For Philadelphia, they were clearly not in favor of keeping Huff after a letdown season resulted in him being a healthy scratch in the Eagles' Super Bowl win. What do the grades say? Pretty similar. ESPN believes both teams benefitted equally and earned a B+ in the deal. Advertisement On the San Fran side, Seth Walder writes: "This is a pretty reasonable play for San Francisco. As poorly as Huff played last season, there's still plenty to like in his history, and his pass rush win rate remained solid despite his struggles. "Though that shows Huff slowing down, it's still a better-than-average get-off for an edge rusher." The best part of the deal for the 49ers is the cost financially. Huff had restructured his contract with Philly to make this work, allowing San Francisco to just under $8 million for the year. Philadelphia is stuck paying more, but the restructure is much more beneficial than being responsible for his three-year, $51.1 million contract without the player. The Eagles benefit as they get to unload a player who did not meet on-field expectations last season and be rewarded with a high Day 3 draft pick. Advertisement "From 2020 to 2022, Huff recorded a 26% pass rush win rate at edge -- a top-10 number at the position had he qualified ..." Walder continued about Huff's 10-sack season that earned him that contract ahead of last year. "His win rate fell to a career-low 19% (which is still higher than average), but the sacks weren't there (2.5) and his playing time dipped before he missed time in the second half of the season to have wrist surgery." The Eagles still have a loaded roster and this departure shouldn't do too much to their pass rush depth with them bringing back a collection of formidable pieces in Nolan Smith Jr., Azeez Ojulari and Joshua Uche. Plus, Philadelphia gets to save a bit of cap space by shipping off some of Huff's contract. Everything seems even right now, but that's the funny thing about grading trades with over three months until the season starts. Things can happen one way or another to cause drastic reconsideration for the true winner here. Advertisement The Niners are banking on reuniting Huff with defensive coordinator Robert Saleh (his head coach during his career-year with the New York Jets in 2023) will pay major dividends. Cooper Flagg Makes Big Decision with Mavericks Ahead of NBA Draft

Cooper Flagg Makes Big Decision with Mavericks Ahead of NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Since before his freshman season at Duke, it was widely expected that Cooper Flagg would eventually become the No. 1 overall pick. Following a historic year—where he racked up a plethora of national awards and led his team in nearly every major statistical category—it's now all but certain that he'll be the first player to hear his name called on June 25 in Brooklyn. Advertisement Shockingly, the Dallas Mavericks, who entered the NBA Draft Lottery with just a 1.8% chance of landing the top pick, did exactly that—securing the No. 1 selection just months after trading franchise star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, with a few weeks until draft night, anticipation is building for the Mavericks to make the expected move and select Flagg as the new face of their franchise. On Sunday, intriguing news emerged that adds even more fuel to that expectation. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Flagg is scheduled to visit Dallas on June 17—just a week before the draft—for a private meeting with the organization. This follows his first official visit with the Mavericks, and Charania all but confirmed that Flagg is set to be their pick. This report effectively shuts down any lingering speculation about Dallas possibly packaging the No. 1 pick in a blockbuster trade for a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo. Advertisement Flagg, who hails from a small town in Maine, admitted he was surprised when the Mavericks landed the top pick but also expressed genuine excitement about the possibility of being drafted by Dallas. 'I saw the teams just like everybody else, but I feel like it was kind of a crazy sequence of events,' Flagg said at the NBA Draft Combine. 'I was surprised like a lot of people.' 'They've got a lot of really good pieces—D-Live from Duke. That's pretty cool,' Flagg added. 'I think it'll be a really good opportunity.' If drafted, Flagg would be joining both of them—alongside Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson—instantly forming a formidable core that could make Dallas a serious contender right away.
