How Scots can take Europe's only direct flight to Indianapolis
It is the only direct flight to the city, famous for its Indy500 race and other famous sporting venues such as Victory Field, Lucas Oil Stadium, Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the NCAA Hall of Champions.
The flight means Scots can travel to Indianapolis much easier. Previously, anyone flying to the US city would need to fly to another part of America and then onwards to Indianapolis.
Now, they can hop on a short journey to Dublin from either Glasgow or Edinburgh and pass US customs before they get on the plane to America.

The Indy500 takes place on May 25 with more than 300,000 racing fans expected to take over the city.
Aer Lingus Chief Executive Officer, Lynne Embleton said: 'At Aer Lingus, our mission is to strengthen connectivity between North America and Europe. This new direct flight between Indianapolis and Dublin is a significant milestone for our airline, bringing the number of transatlantic routes we fly to a total of 24.
Indianapolis is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States and a vibrant hub for business, sports, and culture. With this new service, Aer Lingus will offer the only direct flight connecting Indianapolis to Europe, fostering stronger business, cultural, and sporting ties across the Atlantic.'
Mario Rodriguez, Executive Director, Indianapolis Airport Authority, said: 'This inaugural flight is more than a new route — it's a bridge between communities, cultures, and commerce. It represents the kind of global connection that fuels economic growth, enriches cultural exchange, and elevates Indy's presence on the world stage.

David Adams, Secretary of Commerce, State of Indiana said: "This new connection between our capital city and Ireland opens up new pathways for Indiana businesses and residents alike while creating countless opportunities for our economy, tourism industry and communities.
'There is no better time than May – a month that welcomes race enthusiasts from across the world for one of the most iconic sporting events – to celebrate this new flight and showcase the incredible culture and vibrant future of our state.'
Known as the 'Crossroads of America', Indiana also boasts a wide range of state parks that nature lovers can enjoy exploring, while the largest Children's Museum in the world can also be found there.

The research, by UK holidays firm Hoseasons, has taken factors of each area into account, such as the average holiday park cost, budget-friendly meal cost for a family of three, free or budget-friendly attractions, child-friendly attractions, and the price of a one-way public transport ticket. Just one region north of the border made the top 10 list of the UK's best budget staycation spots. The Scottish Highlands ranked as the fourth best affordable holiday area, scoring 58.67 out of 100. Home to around 230,000 people, a family can stay at a holiday park in the dramatic region of islands, glens, lochs, moors and mountains for around £959. A budget-friendly meal for a family of three costs around £45 and there are 255 free or affordable attractions per 100,000 people - the most out of the top 10. There are also 149 attractions suitable for kids per 100k people - the highest out of the top 10 - and a one-way public transport ticket costs £2.67 on average. The Isle of Wight came out on top, with a total score of 67.07 out of 100. The Island, off the south coast of England, has the lowest population out of the top 10 with around 140,000 people. The average cost of a holiday park stay in the Isle of Wight was found to be £646. This Hotel is Home to the UK's Only Swim-Up Bar A family of three can enjoy a meal for around £42 and the island has 135 free or budget-friendly attractions per 100,000 people. There are also 88 child-friendly attractions per 100k people and a one-way public transport ticket costs £2.40. Dorset and Devon in the south of England ranked second and third, respectively, with scores of 64.75 and 59.83 out of 100. Essex was named as the fifth most affordable place for a family holiday in the UK, with the average price of a holiday park costing £523 - the cheapest out of the top 10. The average cost of a budget-friendly meal for a family of three in the southeast county was £40.50, also the lowest out of the ranked regions. East Sussex ranked sixth, Kent came seventh, Cumbria was listed as eighth, Norfolk was named ninth, and Gloucestershire was tenth. Ebony Cropper, a money-saving expert at Money Wellness, offered some advice on what families can do to cut holiday costs and stick to their budget. She said: 'One way you can help save more from the start is to use up any points or rewards you've accumulated from credit cards or loyalty schemes. "If you've got a travel credit card, this can help cover flights or even hotel stays. It's often an underused resource that can make a big difference when it comes to reducing travel costs. 'You can also take advantage of the different school holiday schedules in Scotland compared to England. Flights from Scottish airports can be cheaper when local kids are still in school, and you'll often find domestic hotels are more affordable too. "This allows you to travel during quieter times when prices haven't inflated for peak holiday periods.' She added: "There are plenty of great activities that don't cost a thing. Walks, spending time at local parks or visiting the beach are all good days out. "And many museums and attractions offer free entry or reduced prices on certain days, so it's worth checking local listings. Websites like Facebook events, local tourism boards, or community pages usually list free events, such as festivals, markets, or outdoor concerts."

It boasts an extensive drinks menu and a daily-changing specials board featuring pub classics. Situated in the picturesque village of New Luce, near Stranraer, the quaint pub sits facing the beachfront. Customers on Tripadvisor rate the pub's charming location and great atmosphere. It has a 4.8-star rating on the popular travel site. One customer hailed it as "just heaven". Another said: "The pub is in a lovely riverside location in a pretty hamlet, just off long-distance footpaths. The location is quiet, but it's within easy reach of lots of things to see and do: there are several superb gardens open to the public, and beautiful coastal scenery on the Rhins of Galloway."

Staff said they were forced to face the "reality of the economic climate" and came to the conclusion that it was no longer possible to continue trading. On social media, cafe bosses wrote: "This Saturday, 28 June, our Santosa Café will close. "A nine-year wondrous journey comes to an end, as we face the reality of the economic climate. "Sadly, it's not possible to continue trading. "We've had nine years of adventures, building communities, creating bridges, overcoming the most challenging of times, and always supporting Leith's amazing community groups. "We've loved every minute being part of the Leith community, breaking new ground in our approach, attitudes, ethos and spirit that has driven our work. They urged customers to pay a final visit on Saturday to celebrate the cafe and its staff. They added: "This Saturday, please celebrate everything that Santosa has been for you and us. Santosa's amazing team have worked so hard to create this wonderful, inclusive and supportive space. "Come and share your love, hugs and memories as we close this Santosa chapter. Scottish Cafe Closes Its Doors After Five Years "The Santosa Sanctuary, our therapists and teachers, will continue throughout July to do their very special thing, so please book in for your treatments and classes." Santosa Wellness Centre is also a studio, therapy centre and shop. The cafe operated on a "Slow Food" concept, preparing dishes to order and cooking them in-house. Dozens of punters flocked to share their disappointment when the cafe announced the sad news. One wrote: "Such sad news. As a newcomer to Edinburgh, this is where I felt welcomed by people from near and far. I wish you the best of luck for your future endeavours." Another added: "Terrible news! So sorry".
