Liverpool get Florian Wirtz hint as Luis Diaz contract decision made

Liverpool continue their pursuit of Florian Wirtz but the German is set to cost huge sums whilst a decision is also made on the future of Luis Diaz with his contract winding down Liverpool continue to be the most active of the top clubs in this summer's transfer window as they look to build on their champion squad. Off the back of Premier League success they've already signed Jeremie Frimpong. The full-back has come in from Bayer Leverkusen and will fill the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Reds now want to add his former team-mate Florian Wirtz, but it will take a British record fee to get him to Anfield. ‌ Liverpool and Arne Slot want to add more firepower to their frontline but it would take more than £120million to land Wirtz. Other attackers have also been linked as the Reds look to make up for their quiet period 12 months ago. ‌ More defensive additions are also expected and Slot admitted at the end of the season that the club would look to improve their squad where the opportunities arose and they continue to attack the market. Here's the latest news from Anfield. Diaz stance clear Liverpool have no intention of selling Luis Diaz this summer. The 28-year-old has just two years left on his current contract and he has been linked with moves away from Anfield. Saudi Pro League sides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal have both been linked with him as well as Spanish giants Barcelona. But Liverpool maintain they have had no contact about his availability. However there are also no plans to open contract talks yet with Diaz, which may be fuelling the exit talk. He remains an important figure for Arne Slot and scored 17 goals last season in all competitions, but new additions to the frontline could see the landscape change for several players. Wirtz saga 'not bothering' player Julian Nagelsmann insists that Wirtz was fine to play for Germany in their Nations League clash with Portugal despite ongoing talk over his future. ‌ He insists negotiations over a blockbuster switch to Liverpool aren't distracting the playmaker. The Reds have so far seen two bids rejected by the Bundesliga outfit, who value Wirtz at a staggering £126m. Nagelsmann said: "Flo will play [against Portugal]. I don't sense any fear of injury or anything with him. He's a competitor who wants to play and be successful with us. I didn't notice that the situation was bothering him. I think it's perfectly normal for every player, coach, whatever, to have one or two thoughts when a transfer is imminent. I think that's part of it." ‌ Reds confident on Kerkez Liverpool are increasingly confident of signing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, according to Sky Sports. The 21-year-old will be allowed to leave for £40m and personal terms aren't expected to be an issue. Manchester City were also keen on the Hungary international but have shifted their focus to Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, which has freed the Reds to go after the Cherries star. Bournemouth have already lost one defender this summer after Dean Huijsen joined Real Madrid for £50m but are poised to lose another of their key men following a stellar season.

Paul Scholes slammed for 'worst bit of punditry ever' after 'outrageous' comment

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has enjoyed a superb season for the Blues as he helped them finish in the top four - but pundit Paul Scholes was not impressed with his performances Paul Scholes has been slammed by fans for "one of the worst bits of punditry ever" after claiming Chelsea star Moises Caicedo"didn't contribute" to their season. The midfielder was an ever-present for Enzo Maresca 's side in the Premier League, playing all 38 games and impressing many with his battling performances. Caicedo managed the most passes, most passes completed, most touches, most possessions won and most tackles of any midfielder in the top flight and was a big part of Chelsea qualifying for the Champions League. ‌ But Scholes left fans baffled by suggesting Caicedo "didn't create or control a lot of games" while also questioning his "quality". ‌ Speaking on the Overlap Fan Debate, he said: "I think a lot of people talk about Caicedo. 'He's played 38 games'. Brilliant, what an achievement. "But was there much quality? Did he create a lot? Did he control a lot of games for Chelsea? I don't remember that. I think there's an era now, with midfielders especially, where you can go through seasons and games without really contributing." Scholes' comments have been blasted by fans on social media, with one calling his remarks "absolutely outrageous". "This is genuinely one of the worst bits of punditry I've ever seen," the post read. "And if Paul Scholes has said this he quite simply doesn't watch much football. Saying Caicedo is 'not contributing much' is absolutely outrageous." Another took aim at his "shocking" view and claimed it showed he hadn't watched much of Chelsea play this season. "Scholes' point about midfielders as a whole is valid but his take on Caicedo specifically here is shocking," the fan wrote. "He's been class this season. Scholes should know better on Caicedo this season. I don't think he's watched enough Chelsea, simple as that." ‌ "Paul Scholes is the worst pundit by a mile," another said. "You can't watch Chelsea's games, and do even a 30-second stat check, and think Moises Caicedo that was a star for Brighton, and now Chelsea doesn't "contribute a lot". Caicedo joined Chelsea for a British club record deal of £115million from Brighton in 2023 and a solid first season as the club finished sixth under Mauricio Pochettino - but was much more improved after working with Maresca in 2024-25. ‌ He started his career Independiente del Valle in his native Ecuador before sealing a move to the Seagulls in 2021. Caicedo only played one full season at the Amex before Chelsea decided to splash the cash on him. Caicedo rounded off his superb season by scoring for Chelsea in their UEFA Conference League final win over Real Betis, netting the final goal in stoppage time of their 4-1 triumph.

EXCLUSIVE More signs all is not well in the Trippier household: England star Kieran heads on luxury family holiday to Turkey without wife Charlotte as pair 'still together but living separate lives'

Kieran Trippier and his wife have been on social media documenting their seemingly separate lives as the former England star posted about a family holiday abroad, while his wife revealed she was enjoying a 'blissful time' catching up with friends at home. The Newcastle full-back and his three children Jacob, eight, Esme, six, and Isla, three, were instead joined by his mum Eleanor on the sunshine break in Turkey. Trippier, 34, documented his trip on Instagram, posting a series of snaps, where he maintained his fitness by taking part in gruelling workouts alongside Newcastle teammate Jamaal Lascelles and Magpies assistant coach Jason Tindall. His son Jacob also joined in the sessions wearing a Newcastle training kit. He also posed up for cute snaps with his daughters at the luxurious resort. Charlotte, 35, meanwhile, took to her Instagram to boast about a week of 'true bliss' catching up with friends, spending time with her own mother and going on hikes. It's not the first time Trippier - who has also been spotted on a lads break in Ibiza - has posted getaways on his social media minus his wife, who last featured on his Instagram in December 2022. The ex-Spurs and Atletico Madrid footballer documented trips to see Father Christmas and Hertfordshire Zoo over the last year, where Charlotte has seemingly been absent. The couple - who do not follow each other on social media and have both ditched their wedding rings - sparked rumours about their marriage last summer when Charlotte did not take her place alongside fellow WAGs watching Trippier and his England teammates during the Euros in Germany. She cryptically posted in the group stages: 'Sooner or later you get over the s*** you swore you'd never get over and it's the best feeling in the world.' The message came after Trippier was photographed lifting up a blonde girl while with Newcastle teammates at a packed karaoke bar in 2023. He cuddled the woman before wrapping his arms around her and then picking her up by the bottom, while Charlotte was holidaying in Spain. It was reported Charlotte had relocated 200miles away from Trippier, who is based in the North East, and enrolled their children in an exclusive private school after moving into a £3.85million mansion in Cheshire last summer. The couple's £3.8million, six-bed mansion in Northumberland, was also reportedly put up for sale. Tripper last featured on Charlotte's Instagram in May last year when she posed on the pitch with her husband and three children at St James's Park on the final game of the 2023/24 season, writing 'Last game of the season which went far too quick.' The defender posted a snap from this season's final home game of the season last month, but this time Charlotte was absent, with his mum once again filling in the void. He captioned the snap: 'Final game of the season very proud as always to have my family there to watch and support.' Meanwhile, it was reported last month Trippier was 'stitched up' by a group of friends who spent close to £10,000 on a strip club bill - before putting his name on the tab. Reports claim the Newcastle star was not present at the club - however his name still appeared on the bill, which included 76 £100 tokens for personal dances. The bill was a staggering £9,663 and was believed to have been racked up by Trippier's friends who play for National League side Gateshead. A source told The Sun: ''Kieran has visited FYEO before but this bill was run up by some of the lads he knows at Gateshead. He wasn't there.
