COLUMBUS, Ga. () — A Phenix City man accused of kidnapping his wife and holding police at bay for hours appeared in Russell County Circuit Court Friday morning.
Michael Deshun Jones, 36, was denied bond for his role in the Monday afternoon standoff on Misty Forest Drive.

Police say Jones' wife and children were able to escape the home, however Jones refused to come out, causing a standoff that lasted for more than five hours. An Aniah's Law hearing was held and Jones was denied bond on the kidnapping and other charges.
Police and prosecutors say Jones made statements on body camera that indicated he would be a threat to the community.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died on Dec. 31, 11 days after the shooting. Man attacked for protecting Pride decorations in Dupont Circle On Aug. 16, 17-year-old Rayon Davis Jr. and 17-year-old Quintin Reed were taken into custody in connection with Barbour's death. They were charged with first-degree murder while armed-felony murder. About 10 months later, officers said they obtained an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Avery Taylor in connection with the case. Arrest made in April murder of Falmouth man behind Taunton school, DA says

Authorities arrested a Roxbury man on Friday, accused of a deadly shooting behind a Taunton school in April. 39-year-old David Jones was charged with the murder of Stephan Myers on April 29, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. Jones will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Friday afternoon. On the morning of April 30, Myers's body was found at a construction area behind Bristol-Plymouth High School. He had sustained a gunshot wound, according to investigators. It's unclear if Jones and Myers were known to each other. No further information was immediately available.
