In grief, cry for justice: Indore mourns honeymooner murdered in Meghalaya

Time of India2 days ago

Indore: The atmosphere in Indore turned heavy with grief on Wednesday as the body of 30-year-old Raja Raghuwanshi, who was brutally murdered while honeymooning in Meghalaya, arrived back home.
His mortal remains reached the airport at 4:45pm. Just after 5:30pm, the body was brought to his residence, where a sea of mourners awaited — not just family and friends, but also neighbours and strangers who had never even met him, but were deeply moved by the tragedy.
The sight outside his home was heart-wrenching. Residents of the colony gathered to pay their respects. Even those who didn't know him personally stood in silent mourning.
Some watched from rooftops, unable to hold back their tears.
"It isn't just the loss of a young man — it was the loss of someone who was known for his gentle nature, friendly demeanour, and the ability to connect with everyone he met. He just got married," an elderly neighbour said through tears. "He used to participate in every local event in the evenings. How can this tragedy be true?"
The final journey to Regional Park crematorium began around 6:45pm.

Hundreds stood along the roads.
In the days Raja was missing, many hoped he and Sonam were simply out of network range and would soon return. But that hope was shattered when Raja's decomposed body was found in a gorge 11 days later. His wife, Sonam, remains missing, and fears are mounting over her safety.
As his body lay in repose, a chilling message was displayed through posters outside his home and at the crematorium: "I did not die… I was killed," said the posters, demanding a CBI inquiry.

Kota bank fraud: ICICI bank employee altered customer mobile numbers; stole Rs 4.58 crore over 3 years

ICICI employee swindles over 4.5cr from Kota city branch, arrested KOTA: In a major bank fraud, a relationship manager of ICICI Bank, Sakshi Gupta, has allegedly siphoned off Rs 4.58 crore from customer accounts in Kota city. The accused worked at Shriram Nagar branch of DCM area in Kota and committed the fraud during the 2020-23 period. She was arrested by the Udhyog Nagar police on May 31 following investigation. The crime first came to light on Feb 18, following which the branch manager lodged a complaint with the police. According to police, for around two-and-a-half years, Sakshi withdrew funds fraudulently from over 100 accounts of 41 customers. She purportedly invested the money in the stock market, but suffered heavy losses. To prevent customers from noticing, she changed the mobile numbers linked to several accounts to numbers belonging to her relatives, ensuring that transaction alerts and OTPs were not received by the real account holders. Bank manager Tarun Dadhich subsequently filed a complaint against her. According to Udhyog Nagar police station SI Ibrahim, the fraud was first reported on Feb 18. From 2020 to 2023, Sakshi had systematically transferred funds from various customer accounts, in some cases using an elderly woman's account, who was unaware of the activity, as a 'pool account'. She had transferred over Rs 3 crore into this account. Police probe confirmed that Sakshi misused debit cards, PINs and OTPs for these unauthorised transactions, and even activated overdraft facilities on 40 accounts without consent. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo She also prematurely closed fixed deposits of 31 customers, channelling Rs 1.34 crore into unauthorised accounts. In addition, a fraudulent personal loan for Rs 3.4 lakh was disbursed. Many transactions were conducted through insta kiosks and various digital banking platforms, with the accused using debit cards of four customers for ATM and internet banking activity. Funds from these frauds were also sent to Demat accounts as part of an attempted cover-up, police said. A statement issued by the ICICI Bank said, "The interest of our customers are of paramount importance to us. Immediately upon discovering the fraudulent activity, we filed an FIR with the police. We have a zero-tolerance policy against any fraudulent activity and thus suspended the employee involved. We would like to reassure that genuine claims of impacted customers have been settled." Ayodhya Ram Mandir: 45kg gold worth Rs 50 crore used; public access to Ram Darbar restricted

Ayodhya Ram Mandir: 45kg gold worth Rs 50 crore used; public access to Ram Darbar restricted AYODHYA : Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the Ram Temple Construction Committee, said 45kg of pure gold was used in the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He said the estimated value of the gold, excluding taxes, is around Rs 50 crore. Gold has been used extensively in the doors on the ground floor of the temple and the throne of Lord Ram. He said gold work is still on in the Sheshavatar Temple. While the main structure of the Ram Mandir has been completed, other parts of the temple complex, including the museum, auditorium, and guesthouse, are still under construction. These are expected to be completed by Dec 2025. Following the consecration of Ram Darbar, Mishra said arrangements are being made for controlled public access to the sacred space. For now, only a limited number of devotees will be allowed to visit the Ram Darbar, and entry will be regulated through passes, which will be issued free of cost, he said. The trust will finalize a plan for public access at a forthcoming meeting, Mishra said. The consecration ceremony has drawn large crowds to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Champat Rai, general secretary of the temple trust, on Friday advised the temple visitors to exercise patience for visits to the Ram Darbar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? As the Ram Darbar is 20-foot-high and requires devotees to climb nearly 40 steps, there are limited arrangements for going up, and the lift's construction will take time, Rai said. "A lift is being constructed for elderly devotees, but it will take time to complete. Devotees will have to wait to visit the Ram Darbar due to unfavourable conditions and, after the rainy season, public visits may be possible," Rai said. The final task will be to hoist the flag on the temple's shikhara, likely in Oct or Nov, once the weather is favourable. Until then, minor works will be completed, Rai said.
