Tufts lacrosse goalkeeper hopes to win national title after breaking record
This weekend, Massachusetts is hosting the college lacrosse national championships at Gillette Stadium and one player on Tufts' team has grown accustomed to this big stage.
The Jumbos have punched their ticket to the national title fight for the third straight year. A cornerstone to that potential Division III dynasty is goalkeeper Conner Garzone, who has been in net for the Tufts lacrosse team for 87 straight games over the last four years.

"The amount of crazy saves Conner makes per game is a lot, he's truly always balling out in cage and he's kept us in so many games this year," said freshman goalkeeper Alex Dircks.
"I actually had pretty bad asthma when I was a kid so they kind of threw me in net," said Garzone, a fifth-year grad student studying quantitative economics. "And since then, it's just been a great journey."
Broke school record for career saves
Garzone just broke the school's record for career saves when he stopped his 907th shot on goal.
"He's just an absolute rock back there and he's having the best year of his career, both in terms of save percentage, goals allowed, he's just been his best in the biggest moments," said Tufts lacrosse coach Casey D'Annolfo.
"You're only as consistent as the guys around you and those guys have trusted in me and believed in me, whether I've had good games or bad games," said Garzone. "And that's not an easy thing to do at all times, trust me, there's plenty of games I'd like to have back."
The New York native, who came up through perennial powerhouse Chaminade High School, has built a lasting legacy in net for the Jumbos. He's hoping to close out his time at Tufts with one more ring.
"There's so many guys that came before me here that worked so hard and deserved it and they didn't get a chance to play in that game or they didn't get a chance to win that game," said Garzone. "Just to be a symbol for those guys, a beacon for this program, is really special."

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow is optimistic about recovery from shoulder injury
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tyler Glasnow is feeling optimistic about his recovery from a shoulder injury that has sidelined him since late April, one of five Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitchers who are on the injured list. There's no timetable yet for his return. The 31-year-old right-hander got hurt against Pittsburgh on April 27. He was recently moved to the 60-day IL. 'My shoulder is totally fine,' he said Tuesday. 'I'll be back as soon as I can in a healthy way to help the team in the playoffs is my goal,' he said. Last season, Glasnow didn't pitch in the postseason because of right elbow tendinitis. He signed a $135.5 million, five-year deal before the 2024 season. Also Tuesday, the Dodgers signed right-hander José Ureña, who was designated for assignment last weekend by Toronto. He was 0-0 with a 3.65 ERA in six appearances for the Blue Jays. He began the season with the New York Mets, giving up five runs in three innings of his lone appearance. Ureña, 33, has spent 11 years in the majors with Miami, Detroit, Milwaukee, Colorado, the Chicago White Sox, Texas, the Mets and Blue Jays. He is 44-77 with a 4.78 ERA in 239 games. As Bears begin mandatory minicamp, tight end Cole Kmet says he's secure in position
Tuesday marked the first day of Chicago Bears mandatory minicamp, and a first chance to talk to Cole Kmet about his reaction to the Bears drafting a tight end at No. 10 overall. The Bears picked tight end Colston Loveland out of the University of Michigan in the draft in April. "At first, like, you're taken aback a little bit, but I mean, [head coach] Ben [Johnson] was awesome about it in terms of calling me right away and kind of explaining the decision," Kmet said. "You know, from there, you're just all on board on it, and you kind of understand their vision, and you know, you understand that there's going to be areas we complement each other, and then there's obviously, just like in any position we're in, there's going to be areas where we compete for things. And you know, that's football, and that's how it should be." Kmet said Coach Johnson reassured him where he stood in the team's eyes. Running back D'Andre Swift may also need some reassurance after averaging a career low 3.8 yards per carry last season, and the Bears seemingly targeting running back help by finally drafting Kyle Monangai in the seventh round. "Kins of look at it like whatever they was going to do, my mindset wasn't going to change. Whether they brought somebody in — if they throw, they don't — my mindset is coming in, like I said, go to work," said Swift. "Everybody got an opinion, entitled to their own opinion. My job is to come in here and continue to work. Like I said, I'm excited for this season. I know who I am and what I'm about." There were some notable absences on the practice field Tuesday, including Kyler Gordon and TJ Edwards — along with rookie receiver Luther Burden. They are all dealing with minor injuries. Loveland also remains sidelined recovering from shoulder surgery, but Coach Johnson did say everyone was in the building — just not all practicing.
