A GROUP of pole dancers who sparked outrage after staging a semi-nude photoshoot outside a revered historic palace have been arrested.

Footage shared by Greek media showed two women in racy red lingerie balancing on a pole.
Another clip captures a dancer in a black thong leotard being cheered on by a woman shouting: 'Yes Shelly, nice!'
The women are now accused of violating archaeological law and degrading the surrounding area.
They expressed regret for their "unfortunate" actions, and reportedly had not realised the gravity of their behaviour until after the footage went viral.
Dozens of furious residents slammed the shoot online, branding it 'disgraceful' – and accusing the performers of being British, local outlet Proto Thema reported.

One person fumed: 'The Corfu Palaces: they once hosted royals. Now, pole dancing.
'If Lord Byron saw pole dancing at the Palaces, he would have returned to England without a second thought.'
Another commenter raged: 'Would they do the same at Buckingham [Palace]? Of course, here we have been the inferior in Europe for years on vacation and binge. [sic]'

Concerns were also raised over possible damage to the site, with one user asking whether the performers had 'pierced the slabs in the ground' to secure the pole.
So far, there's no evidence the historic structure was harmed.
The group of women had been visiting Corfu as they had done for several years to take part in various dancing events.
According to local media, a pole dancing school in the UK was behind the ordeal.
The school organises a vacation with intensive pole dancing seminars in Corfu every year in the last two weeks of May, ANT1 reported.
The Palace and site of the risky photoshoot was commissioned by British Lord High Commissioner Sir Thomas Maitland in the early 19th century.
It is one of the best-preserved examples of Regency architecture outside the UK and now houses the Museum of Asian Art.
The Directorate of the Museum reportedly had no idea the shoot was happening, according to Protothema.
Outraged locals flooded Facebook with questions.
'Did the permanent residents of the historic centre and their association take a position for this event?' one asked.
'Who gave the permission slip?' demanded another.
'Someone should call the police,' a third added.
It comes as a tourist is facing a £168,000 fine after hurling a huge rock into a gorge at Spain's Picos de Europa National Park.
The incident occurred on the popular Cares Trail, which draws 300,000 hikers annually.
In a viral video, the man is seen throwing the stone over the edge, followed by a loud crash below.

The 1% Club viewers 'driven crazy' by baffling question that 'makes no sense'

The 1% Club has proven to be a huge hit since launching on ITV in 2022, but one question has left viewers scratching their heads, with some even admitting it's 'driving them crazy' The 1% Club, an ITV gameshow hosted by Lee Mack, has left viewers scratching their heads over a particularly challenging question. Since its debut in 2022, the show has been a massive hit, bagging two National Television Awards. ‌ The game involves 100 contestants answering questions that have already been answered by the general public, each starting with a £1,000 stake. ‌ Lee poses 15 questions of increasing difficulty, starting with one that 90% of people answered correctly and ending with one that only 1% got right. Contestants have 30 seconds to lock in their answers and can progress to the next round if they answer correctly or pass after the 50% question. Those who reach the final question could win up to £100,000 or share the prize pot, while those playing along at home can simply enjoy the challenge. However, one question has left fans stumped and has been circulating on social media. Posted on a Facebook page, the question was: What is the next letter in this sequence? SENTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. ‌ This question, from a May 2022 episode, was the final one of the quiz show, meaning only 1% of the general population answered it correctly. While some managed to solve it, others confessed their confusion. "Wouldn't get it in 30 days never mind 30 secs," one viewer commented. ‌ "It's easy when you know but tricky otherwise," another added. One viewer joked: "How to feel dumb on a Thursday morning." ‌ A cynic chimed in, saying: "All the people answering acting like they worked it out, 100% goggled it or watched live." Others were left perplexed, with one writing: "That makes no sense," and another admitting they were "lost" and asking for explanations. "Can someone explain that this is more than just a few buzzwords? It's driving me crazy," one frustrated viewer asked. ‌ However, some people did manage to crack the code, with one explaining: "S-seventeen, E-eighteen, N-nineteen, T-twenty, Each other T represents the numbers between Twenty and Thirty Nine. Next letter is F for Forty." One impressed viewer replied: "You're overworking that brain, if I was to be given my entire life to think of that I wouldn't figure it out." A sceptic also questioned the authenticity of one of the correct answers, claiming: "They watched it on TV, maybe even Googled the answer, no one on the show got it, I was bamboozled and I have an IQ of 139."

We tried the new Edinburgh Gordon Ramsay Sunday menu and had some thoughts

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Edinburgh has countless world-class restaurants offering food for any craving you might need to satisfy, but sometimes the thing you want most is a classic Sunday roast. A good roast is homey and familiar yet still manages to surprise you with new flavours or a fresh twist on the classic meal. For a top notch Sunday roast, look no further than Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen and Bar. Nestled at 4 St Andrew Square beside Dishoom, the centre city eatery is now a staple of Edinburgh's fine dining portfolio, offering a gourmet menu with the best of British traditional cuisine. Founded in 1998, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants operates nearly 40 locations nationwide and approximately 100 globally. The chain recently launched a brand new Sunday set menu so I went down to St Andrew Square on a Sunday evening for a taste of their roast. The new set menu comes with the option of two courses for £35 per person or three courses for £40 per person. This will leave something of a dent in your wallet, but rest assured the portions were generous and the quality was well worth the price, especially if you opt to throw in five quid extra for another course. As a vegetarian, I admit the menu shrinks considerably, but the meatless options left me satisfied and are suitable even for pickier eaters. (Image: Edinburgh Live) For a starter I ordered the the red pepper gazpacho. Presentation was tidy and colourful. The chilled soup was exactly what you want from a gazpacho - light, refreshing, and herby. It carried a heavy garlic punch that balanced with the blended red peppers. When my main dish arrived I posed for an obligatory photo shoot to the chagrin of surrounding diners. I ordered the one vegetarian offering on the Sunday set menu: the celeriac Wellington. I'll admit the celeriac root inside the Wellington shell was an interesting choice. As a vegetarian, I'm familiar with vegetables being disguised as meat in ways that usurp the traditional dish - such as spicy cauliflower wings, or portobello mushroom burgers. I wasn't sure how the celeriac root held up in this regard, being slightly tough in texture. (Image: Edinburgh Live) However, the Wellington shell was stuffed with fragrant chopped mushrooms and the dish was served with heavenly cream sauce that redeemed the off choice of vegetable. It was also accompanied by mash and buttery spinach which allowed for the perfect bite when combined with the Wellington. For meat-eaters, my friend ordered the steak which she demolished in minutes and called "incredible". I didn't try it myself we'll just have to take her word for it. For my final course, I went for another classic with the sticky toffee pudding. This was one of the best sticky toffee puddings I've ever had, which was impressive given that I was already full to the brim and wasn't sure if I could fit dessert. (Image: Edinburgh Live) As a nightcap my guest and I ordered two espresso martinis which arrived with a powdering of cacao powder. They were slightly sweet for my liking but gave a nice kick of caffeine after the big meal. Overall, the meal was a solid Sunday roast. The vibe was fancy yet casual, a good option for a fine dining experience that is more accessible to families and dates. If you're seeking a homey roast for an upscale evening out, the set menu is one to watch. To make a booking, head to the Gordon Ramsay Bread Street Kitchen & Bar website here.

King Charles 'excited' by incredible but 'baffling' discovery at Windsor Castle

King Charles recently discovered a 'cache' of Leonardo Da Vinci drawings in Windsor Castle, but was surprised by the reaction of his family King Charles reportedly made an intriguing discovery in Windsor Castle that left other members of the Royal Family utterly perplexed. A new documentary suggests that as a young man, the King enjoyed exploring the library to uncover its secrets. Author Mark Lane told the documentarians: "Charles used to love rummaging through the library." ‌ However, on one occasion, Charles stumbled upon something extraordinary. ‌ Royal commentator Ingrid Seward revealed: "He discovered a cache of Leonardo Da Vinci drawings in the royal library and he was so excited." Royal journalist Emily Andrews reported that Charles was so captivated by the iconic sketches that he showed them to his family, but their reaction was not what he anticipated. She elaborated: "He apparently absolutely loved them and then went back to go and tell his family what he'd found and he was met with bafflement and bemusement." This insight into Charles' relationship with Windsor Castle comes ahead of a significant reception at the estate later this month. On June 12, the King will be joined by five other royals including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Princess Royal. ‌ However, Queen Camilla is not on the list, and no explanation has been provided for her absence, according to the Daily Express. At the upcoming event, 197 British businesses are set to be honoured for their accomplishments in four categories as part of The King's Award for Enterprise. ‌ Meanwhile, it isn't just Windsor Castle which is seeing a visit by the King, but Balmoral Castle too as plans were announced to open it to the public following a successful trial run in 2024. A statement on the official Balmoral Castle Instagram read: 'Following the historic opening of the castle's doors in the summer of 2024 — for the first time since its completion in 1855 — we are once again delighted to offer exclusive private tours, guided by our experienced team. "Journey through history, from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's purchase of the Balmoral Estate to the present day. "You'll have the rare opportunity to view a selection of rooms within the Castle that are still used by Their Majesties The King and Queen, as well as other members of the Royal Family." King Charles is breaking with tradition by being the first modern-era monarch to make Balmoral accessible to the public, unlike his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who kept it as a strictly private retreat.
