‘Dacoit' first glimpse: Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap in a twisted love story

The Hindu26-05-2025

A first glimpse teaser from the upcoming Hindi-Telugu bilingual film, Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, was unveiled by the makers on Monday (May 26). The film, which marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Shaneil Deo, is set to release in theatres on December 25 for Christmas.
The teaser video offers glimpses of the three main characters, played by Sesh, Thakur and Anurag Kashyap. 'Hey, Juliet. What happened to you isn't a trivial thing. Everybody betrayed you. But I am not here to betray you. No. I am here to destroy you,' says the voiceover by Sesh's character, an elusive criminal. We then see a high-speed train ram through a police vehicle.
The caption of the YouTube video and how X-Mas is written towards the end further hint that this might be a raw and explosive story revolving around a woman and her exes. An earlier report had called it a gripping story of two former lovers who must unite to commit a series of robberies to change their lives.
Written by Sesh and Deo, Dacoit also features Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla in pivotal roles. With music scored by Bheems Ceciroleo, the film has cinematography by Danush Bhaskar and editing by Kodati Pavan Kalyan.
Dacoit is currently being shot in Hyderabad, after which an extensive schedule is set to take place in Maharashtra. The film is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, co-produced by Suniel Narang, and presented by Annapurna Studios.

Ajay Devgn Backs 8-Hour Shifts For Moms Amid Deepika's Spirit Exit: ‘Most Honest Filmmakers…'

Last Updated: Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Spirit sparks debate on work hours for new mothers. Ajay Devgn weighs in. The buzz around Deepika Padukone's reported departure from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming film Spirit has taken a fresh turn. Reports suggest the actress, who recently embraced motherhood, had requested to work no more than eight hours a day — a clause that reportedly didn't sit well with the filmmaker. Now, industry veterans Ajay Devgn and Kajol have weighed in on the ongoing conversation. During the trailer launch of Kajol's next film Maa, Ajay was asked how Hindi filmmakers are reacting to the idea of actors, especially new mothers, wanting shorter work hours. Ajay responded, 'It's not that it's not going down well with people." He added, 'Most honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hours shifts." Kajol chimed in adding, 'I love the fact that you can work less," she said. While they refrained from naming anyone specifically, Ajay summed it up by saying, 'It's person to person, and I feel most of the industry understands this." Kajol is a mother of two herself. She has daughter Nysa Devgn and son Yug Devgn, with Ajay Devgn. Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Feud Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga's recent post on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a big controversy. Even though the director did not name Deepika Padukone, he penned down a cryptic note which left netizens assured that he was slamming the actress. This comes days after Deepika was ousted from Vanga's next movie, Spirit, which also stars Prabhas in the lead. Reports indicated that Deepika Padukone was set to receive the highest paycheck of her career for her role in the Prabhas starrer. It was rumoured that the actress would earn a staggering Rs 20 crore for this project. But, a few days later, it was reported that Sandeep Reddy Vanga had removed Deepika Padukone from Spirit. Reports suggest that her demands, including eight-hour workdays, a high salary, and a share in the film's profits, did not sit well with director Vanga. Deepika, a new mother, is reportedly seeking to balance her work and personal life by reducing her working hours. This decision led to her departure from the film, which would have been her second collaboration with Prabhas after their recent project, Kalki 2898 AD. First Published:

Kajol Backs Work-Life Balance Amid Deepika's 8-Hr Shift Debate: ‘Never Worked 20 Hours'

Last Updated: Kajol said she never worked 20 or 30 hour shifts and was always clear about setting limits, with her mother supporting her stance. Kajol recently mentioned that she has never worked for 20-30 hours straight and has always prioritised work-life balance since starting her acting career in the 1990s. This statement was made amidst reports of Deepika Padukone 's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit. Reports claimed that the actress, who recently became a mother, requested an eight-hour workday- a condition that reportedly didn't go over well with the filmmaker. Now, Kajol has also weighed in on the debate over work hours in the industry. While speaking with PTI, Kajol shared that she was among the few actors who focused on one film at a time, unlike other actors who worked on multiple projects simultaneously. She emphasised that she never worked excessively long hours and always maintained a certain amount of work, supported strongly by her mother. 'I was one of the few people who worked on one film at a time; I didn't do 4 films at the same time . I used to finish one film, then start another. I didn't work for 20 or 30 hours. I was always very clear that we would work a certain amount only, and my mom also backed me up big time on it," she said. Reflecting on a similar situation after the birth of her first child, Nysa, Kajol mentioned that her husband, Ajay Devgn, and most producers were very supportive, accommodating her needs without hesitation. The actress recalled that during difficult personal times, the producers she worked with were extremely understanding, allowing her to wrap up early when necessary. Kajol Recalls Shooting For 'U Me Aur Hum' And 'Fanaa' Kajol recalled shooting for U Me Aur Hum in 2008 when her father was in the hospital and Nysa was just two years old. Ajay, who was the producer, ensured she could balance her work and personal life, allowing her to go home early so she could go to the hospital. While filming Fanaa in 2006, Kajol noted that everyone worked comfortably around her schedule without making it an issue or including it in the contract. She concluded that she has had wonderful experiences, with most people understanding and accommodating her needs. Ajay Devgn's Stance On 8-Hour Shifts During the trailer launch of Kajol's next film Maa, Ajay Devgn was asked how Hindi filmmakers are reacting to the idea of actors, especially new mothers, wanting shorter work hours. Ajay responded, 'It's not that it's not going down well with people." He added, 'Most honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hours shifts." First Published:

Anirudh Ravichander breaks silence on rumours of marriage with Kavya Maran — ‘completely false'

Popular music composer Anirudh Ravichander has firmly denied rumours suggesting he is getting married to Kavya Maran, daughter of media baron Kalanithi Maran and owner of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad. The speculation began after a Reddit post claimed that Anirudh and Kavya were in a relationship and planning to tie the knot. The post, which quickly gained traction on social media, also mentioned that actor Rajinikanth had personally spoken to Kalanithi Maran about the relationship, fuelling further speculation of an upcoming wedding. This led to widespread discussion online, with several fans and media outlets picking up the story. However, Anirudh put an end to the rumours with a clear post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, 'Marriage ah? lol .. Chill out guys. pls stop spreading rumours (sic),' putting to rest all speculation. Fans responded quickly to his clarification, with many thanking him for addressing the matter directly. One user commented, 'Thank God. You clarified quickly. Otherwise, YouTubers would have made several videos (sic).' Another person wrote, 'LOL dude got scared just with rumors imagine if it was reality (sic).' While neither Kavya Maran nor anyone from the Maran family has commented publicly on the matter, Anirudh's statement seems to have cleared the air. Anirudh, known for composing music for several Tamil and Telugu blockbusters, has always maintained a low profile regarding his personal life. With this rumour now debunked, fans can expect him to stay focused on his upcoming music projects, which continue to receive strong appreciation from audiences across India. In his work front, Anirudh last composed music for Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi'. He will next compose music for upcoming films like 'Kingdom', 'Coolie', 'Madharasi', 'Love Insurance Kompany', 'Jana Nayagan', 'The Paradise', 'Jailer 2', and SRK's 'King'. For now, it's clear there are no wedding bells ringing for the composer – just more music.
