Wisconsin women's hockey announces 2025-26 conference schedule
The Wisconsin women's hockey program released its 2025-26 conference slate on Wednesday morning.
Fresh off its thrilling NCAA Championship victory over Ohio State in Minnesota, Mark Johnson's program is in search of its ninth national title in program history and fourth championship in the past six years. That journey begins with the 2025-26 conference schedule release.
Captained by reigning First-Team All-American Kirsten Simms, Wisconsin will open the season at Bemidji State on Sept. 26-27 before returning to Madison for its conference home-opener against Minnesota Duluth the weekend of Oct. 10-12.
Other notable series include Wisconsin's Jan. 30-31 Border Battle series against Minnesota and NCAA title game rematch against Ohio State in Madison the weekend of Feb. 6-8. UW will conclude the regular season against St. Cloud State the weekend of Feb. 20-22 before commencing its WCHA playoff journey in late February and early March.
The Badgers' non-conference schedule will be announced in the coming weeks, per a release.
The Badgers orchestrated one of the more dominant conference outputs in recent program history during the 2024-25 season. They went 38-1-2, with their sole loss arriving on Nov. 16 against Ohio State in Columbus. Wisconsin tied the Buckeyes at Wrigley Field on Jan. 4 and St. Cloud State on Jan. 26 at home.
Mark Johnson's squad would go on to pilot a 3-0 record in the 2025 NCAA Tournament with wins over Clarkson, Minnesota and Ohio State to pocket the eighth championship in program history. In the final over the Buckeyes, Simms netted a penalty-shot goal to send the game to overtime with under 20 seconds to spare before clinching the 4-3 victory with another score in the extra frame.
While that type of outcome may be difficult to replicate, Wisconsin will return to the ice with as much confidence as any team across the nation. With a bevy of stars at the helm, UW could certainly further its standing as the sport's premier dynasty come Sept. 26.
