Gilas Youth cruises to another blowout, deals Singapore 64-point drubbing in FIBA U16 SEABA Qualifiers
It's business as usual as Gilas Pilipinas Youth blew out Singapore with a dominant 101-37 win to remain unscathed in the 2025 FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers on Monday at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex in Pampanga.
The youthful Filipinos, who were coming off a pair of similar lopsided victories over Vietnam and Thailand over the last two days, moved closer to an Asia Cup ticket after improving to a 3-0 card.
Tournament recap:
Philippines 113-62 Vietnam
Philippines 87-42 Thailand
The LA Tenorio-mentored crew used a balanced offense to clobber the Singaporeans with six players breaching the double-digit scoring led by Evareign Cruz' 14 points on an impressive 60-percent shooting clip while also grabbing three rebounds, four steals, and one assist.
Jhustin Hallare and Ethan Tan-Chi provided the lift with 13 and 12 markers apiece while John Restificar and Andwele Cabañero chipped in 11 points apiece.
Similar to their previous games, the Filipinos unleashed another strong start as the wards of Barangay Ginebra star Tenorio raced to a 51-24 halftime cushion.
Gilas Youth refused to ease on the gas pedal in the next half, where the hosts limited the visitors to just 16 points against their 47.
Gilas will look to solidify its Asia Cup ticket on Wednesday when it takes on Malaysia at 7 p.m. before facing powerhouse Indonesia on Thursday.
