Inside the quirky pink bus spotted all over NYC, as its loudly dressed owner runs for office on ‘Party Party' line
A bright pink school bus covered in stickers has become a common scene on the streets of New York City — with partiers dancing on its handmade bamboo rooftop.
'Hello, we've got some celebrities here we are passing through!' Glinda the Good Bus' loudly dressed owner Michelle Joni Lapidos said as The Post rode tagged along through Manhattan with some college-aged curiosity seekers.
Self-described 'social savant' Lapidos brainstormed the bus in 2019 and has been zipping bridal parties, birthday celebrations and more throughout the city since — but this year is bringing the bus back to its roots as a campaign trolley.

Lapidos is trying to launch the aptly-named 'Party Party' line in a longshot bid for Brooklyn borough president, a job she said will help her 'bring the New York spirit back.'
'I truly see people right for their magic and I want to activate that and people,' Lapidos told The Post.
'Radical inclusion — I want everyone to win. We can all win. We have a society built around competition and divisiveness, and the 'Party Party' offers the viewpoint that we can all win.'
8 Lapidos spiritually ran for President of the US in 2020.

Dressed in a blue flight attendant suitdress and red pilot cap, and flanked by her two co-pilots, Lapidos scooped up a party of the New School graduate students while blasting 'Empire State of Mind' — and Lapidos played karaoke with the vehicle's sound system.
While the group dined and drank on the couches on the bus' roof, co-pilot Addison Dreher tossed out glitter, stickers, bubbles, party hats and more.
Whenever the bus slowed down, co-pilot Luna März danced in the open doorway of the bus and encouraged rush hour passersby to join in on the party.
'It's very much that feeling of people being taken out of their element of like, 'Oh, what that!' I don't know if I'm addicted to it for personal reasons, but it's needed and people are ready,' Lapidos said.
8 Birthday girl Ren Hasuda, in center, said spending her 32nd birthday on the bus felt 'meant to be.'

This spring marks a return to form for Glinda the Good Bus, which is named in honor of the equally bright and pink witch from the 'Wizard of Oz.' Lapidos said she originally bought the vehicle as a campaign vehicle for a bid for president in 2020.
As far as the city Board of Elections would be concerned, the campaign was an informal one. But Lapidos ordered license plates that said 'JONI2020' and put out her dreams of being president into the universe.
'There's the spiritual belief that intention is creation, so each little bit as intention is actually creation,' she explained.
When her mission to become the first female commander-in-chief didn't pan out, Lapidos found ways to community organize in other ways. She founded a skipping club — which is exactly what it sounds like — and helped brainstorm the Metro Gala, an annual 'underground' version of the elitist fashion party.

Plus, Glinda the Good Bus boarded thousands of customers — including many who were picked up off the street.
Birthday girl Ren Hasuda watched the spectacle breeze down the street one evening and knew it would be the perfect spot to host her first-ever birthday in America.
'It's fantastic! It's super unique. I wanted to do something special and then saw this on the street — it feels meant to be,' Hasuda told The Post as she sat atop Glinda to celebrate her 32nd birthday.
The environment is an attempt to replicate the 'vibes' of Burning Man, an event that Lapidos said changed her life and opened her eyes to a new form of self-expression and community.
8 She is running for Brooklyn Boro President on the 'Party Party.'
Stefano Giovannini
Now, Lapidos is attempting to expand the party even further by throwing her hat into the race for Brooklyn borough president.
Lapidos failed to provide a valid cover sheet with her paperwork, technically bumping her out of the race to unseat incumbent Antonio Reynos but the determined bus driver plans to run as an independent on her own line: the 'Party Party.'
Her main mission, she explained, would be boosting businesses and nightlife so that Brooklyn is keeping the lights on 24/7. Shouldn't there be a cocktail hour for the waitresses who work the typical cocktail hour, she asked
8 März danced in front of the open door and encouraged passerbys to join the party.
Stefano Giovannini
Lapidos also hopes to place an even stronger emphasis on the arts, something that has been an integral part of the city, and especially Brooklyn's, identity for generations.
'Art as inherent is the kind of party that we want to bring. That's creativity, expression and community,' Lapidos said.
'I also have a vision for the world. I ride around in the driver's seat of my bus — this is my corner office. I see the world. I see the streets.'

'gloria' Kendrick Lamar new music On Nov. 22, 2024, Lamar shocked the world with his previously-unannounced sixth studio album 'GNX.' Made up of 12 tracks, the talented lyricist delivers his trademark punchy rhymes — that are almost impossible to get out of your head in the best way — over sparse drumbeats and samples. Personally, our favorite tracks here are the impressively minimalist rapper's delight 'wacced out murals' (which ended up opening his halftime show), Latin-infused 'reincarnated' and lively party-starter 'tv off' feat. lefty gunplay. Advertisement Stick around until the end, too. Kendrick teams up with SZA for the evocative, sensitive duet 'gloria.' We can't wait to hear this one live IRL (especially now that we know it's literally the show's encore). Want to check the album out for yourself? Click here to listen to 'GNX.' SZA new music SZA's 23-song, 2022 album 'SOS' has proven to be a hit with critics and fans in the nearly three years since its release. Rolling Stone said the record 'delivers sharp barbs and juicy revelations' in a glowing four-star review. 'SZA's long, ambitious, luxurious new album solidifies her position as a generational talent,' Pitchfork raved. They summed up that sentiment calling her 'otherworldly, but you just might know someone a little like her, too.' If you want to brush up on the record before seeing her live, you can stream 'SOS' here. Hip-Hop icons on tour in 2025 Although it will be difficult to top Kendrick and SZA's jaunt in terms of sheer star power, scope and scale, we're just as excited to catch a number of big names live these next few months. Here are just five iconic acts we can't wait to see in the near future. • Tyler, The Creator • Wu-Tang Clan • NBA Youngboy • Lil Wayne • Wiz Khalifa Who else is on the road? Zohran Mamdani missing in Albany as he campaigns for NYC mayor, was absent for whopping 50% of Assembly votes
ALBANY – Socialist Democrat Zohran Mamdani has been MIA from the state Capitol as he campaigns for New York City mayor — missing a whopping more than 50% of votes in the Assembly. The Queens pol has been absent for 231 roll call votes so far this year — more than any other member of the state Assembly, according to tallies reviewed by The Post. That number marked just over half of the total votes held by the lower chamber of the Legislature as of Tuesday. The records show that Mamdani — who announced his candidacy for the Democratic mayoral nomination in late October — hasn't made a roll call vote in the Assembly since the state budget was passed on May 8. The chamber has had 11 voting business days in that time — none of which included the far-left pol's voice. 'Some people take their jobs seriously, others don't,' one Democratic lawmaker, who asked to remain anonymous, quipped. Other state lawmakers who are also running for the Democratic nod have missed a considerable number of votes, too, though fewer than Mamdani. State Sen. Zellnor Myrie (D-Brooklyn) missed about 49% of votes, the most of any representative in his chamber. Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani has missed every Assembly roll call vote since the state budget was passed on May 8. Michael Nigro And State Sen. Jessica Ramos (D-Queens) has missed the third most votes in the senate with a 27% absence rate. Mamdani's truancy is especially noteworthy as Assembly lawmakers have the ability to cast votes remotely through a videoconferencing setup introduced during the COViD-19 pandemic. He has taken advantage of his remote-voting ability — including on a controversial measure to authorize physician-assisted suicide in April — but its unclear exactly how many of the votes he actually made were done via video. Assembly rules state that members can only vote remotely during situations such as 'disability, illness, caregiving responsibilities, or any other significant or unexpected factor.' Mamdani's spokesperson said the lefty politician has continued to push legislation from afar, such as a new bill that would require utility companies to notify customers when making a bid with the state to change their rates. His office also pointed to as proof of Mamdani doing his job events that he's held for constituents, including to support asylum seekers, and holding meetings with various groups from his district. 'Zohran became a top tier candidate for NYC mayor while maintaining a near perfect attendance record through the conclusion of the weeks-delayed New York State Budget,' Mamdani campaign spokesperson Andrew Epstein said in a statement. 'Since then, he has spent most of his time talking to voters across the five boroughs while continuing to maintain fully operational and effective Albany and district offices, cosponsoring legislation, marshaling bipartisan legislation taking on ConEd through committee, and addressing constituent concerns,' Epstein said. Assembly lawmakers can vote remotely under special circumstances. Hans Pennink State Sen. Michael Gianaris (D-Queens), whose district overlaps with Mamdani's, came to the fellow Queens pol's defense over his absences. 'I know Zohran has continued to work hard for his district even while running a very active citywide campaign,' Gianaris said. 'My office interacts with his frequently on issues important to our shared constituents and that has not slowed down at all.' But Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Nassau) — who has perfect attendance — made a dig at Mamdani's absences. 'I didn't realize he hasn't been there honestly,' Ra remarked.

Deportation of Boulder terror suspect Mohamed Soliman's wife, five children blocked by Biden-appointed judge
The family of Colorado terror suspect Mohamed Sabry Soliman won't be tossed from the United States for now after a Biden-appointed judge slammed the brakes on their imminent deportation Wednesday. Soliman's wife, Hayam Salah Alsaid Ahmed Elgamal, 41, their daughter Habiba Mohamed Sabry Farag Soliman, 18, two more minor daughters and two minor sons were all detained and facing a swift deportation — before Judge Gordon Gallagher stepped in. The Post found children's toys scattered outside Soliman's home Toby Canham for the NY Post 'Defendants SHALL NOT REMOVE Hayem El Gamal and her five children from … the United States unless and until this Court or Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit vacates this Order,' Gallagher, a Biden-appointed judge, said in his ruling obtained by Fox News. Stay up to date on the Boulder, Colorado, terror attack The family first reached the United States from Egypt in August 2022, but were only allowed to stay until February 2023, the Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday. Soliman, 45, filed for asylum on September 29, 2022, and listed his wife and their five children as dependents in Denver, according to the department. The family was detained by ICE Tuesday and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem vowed authorities would probe if any of them knew about Soliman's plan to allegedly throw homemade flamethrowers and Molotov cocktails in the antisemitic attack that injured 12 people in Boulder. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
