FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police launched an investigation on Wednesday after a man found collapsed in a cemetery in the town of Kurate with a bullet wound to the head later died. Police suspect that the man committed suicide, reports TBS News (June 12).
At around 10:00 p.m., a male acquaintance of the man, aged in his 50s, called emergency services. 'My acquaintance is collapsed in the cemetery,' he said.
Personnel arriving at the scene found the man collapsed and bleeding from his head. He was taken to a hospital but was confirmed dead about two hours later.
The hospital subsequently contacted police. 'It was likely to have been a gunshot wound,' a representative of the hospital said.
Police have not disclosed where the body was found, but they have seized what appears to be a handgun.
Based on interviews with related parties, they believe the man may have taken his life by shooting himself. The investigation is ongoing.
