Administration shuts down 10 unrecognised madrasas in UP's Shravasti district
Shravasti (UP), Apr 27 (PTI) The district administration has shut down 10 unrecognised madrasas operating illegally within 15 km radius of the Nepal border in the Shravasti district, an official said on Sunday.
District Minority Welfare Officer Devendra Ram told PTI, 'There are a total of 297 madrasas in Shravasti, of which 192 are unrecognised. On Saturday, 10 madrasas falling in Indian territory within 15 km radius of Nepal border were shut down due to irregularities. Most of these were operating surreptitiously, some were operating illegally in rented houses or homes and some in semi-constructed buildings.' Action is being taken against illegal and unrecognised madrasas operating in the district on the instructions of District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi, an official statement issued by the District Magistrate's Office (by the Information Department) said. Air India crash: 31 bodies identified so far, 12 handed over to kin
New Delhi: The bodies of 31 passengers who were killed in the June 12 Air India plane crash have been identified so far, and their families have been contacted, additional medical superintendent of BJ Medical College Rajnish Patel said on Sunday. 'Of the total 31 bodies matched through DNA sampling, 12 families have already come forward and taken the bodies back home. They were from different places of Rajasthan and Gujarat. This includes the 11 passengers who were identified yesterday. Our teams have contacted the families to come and collect the bodies. Arrangements have been made for each family for their travel,' he told HT. Apart from the 31 bodies, the hospital authorities had returned 8 bodies to their kin, which did not require DNA testing for identification. Patel said that the DNA identification of former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani is still underway. 'The DNA results are still pending.' Meanwhile, the hospital authorities have got coffins packed in trucks to return the bodies identified so far, and a large hall at the BJ Medical College of the Civil Hospital, which doubled up as a classroom and auditorium, was turned into a DNA sample collection centre on Thursday.
