German Neo-Nazi Groups Join Annual French Fascist March

Memri4 days ago

On May 10, 2025, around 2,000 nationalists from across Europe followed an annual call by French fascists to mark the 31st anniversary of the death of a French fascist, who, at the age of 22, died during his flight from police forces following a banned rally in Paris.
In collaboration with fellow fascist groups, the annual rally has gained immense traction, emerging as a vital nexus of mobilization, symbolism, and transnational networking within the European fascist movement. The annual march is often held in defiance of official bans, making it a powerful symbol of resistance. Moreover, it functions as a recruitment and mobilization vehicle, encompassing flag hoisting processions, communal MMA and combat training, and speeches, which foster a counterculture fueled by collective grievance.
A large delegation of German fascists joined this year's rally and memorial procession, which was held under the banner of "Europe, Youth, Revolution!" A German fascist group raved about the event, noting that "the youth of Europe are rising together to free themselves […] from enemies of the peoples of this world; this determination was palpable for everyone present on that day." It added that for the self-proclaimed 'national revolutionary movement', it was uplifting standing alongside "numerous other European nationalists […] and sending a message of unity" and of "struggle against the evil spirit of our time." The group's stay in Paris was paired with an outdoor training session with members of various fascist fitness clubs.

The rally has transformed from a commemorative gathering to a pan-European event devoted to propaganda techniques, building cross-border alliances, and coordinated transnational activism. These annually held commemorations assemble diverse nationalist actors to network, reinforce ideological solidarity, strengthen transnational camaraderie, and plan future collaborations. A youth delegation of a German fascist group also attended the rally to expand its growing transnational network.

Macron welcomes PSG team to presidential palace to celebrate their historic Champions League win

The winner of European club football's biggest prize arrived in Paris on Sunday afternoon and head to France's most famous avenue, the Champs-Élysées, which overnight Saturday saw acts of violence and clashes with police. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Paris Saint-Germain football team to the presidential palace on Sunday to celebrate their historic Champions League win. Before meeting with Macron, PSG were paraded through the Champs-Elysee in an open roof coach bus. The team beat Italian side Inter Milan 5-0 in the tournament's final the day prior in Munich. It was the first time PSG ever won the title – having coming up short in their only previous final against Bayern Munich in 2020. French authorities say two people died after celebrations erupted around the country following the team's win. A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the city of Dax during a PSG street party, according to the national police. Another person was killed in Paris when his scooter was hit by a car during PSG celebrations, the interior minister's office said. The circumstances of both deaths are being investigated. The interior ministry also said 18 police officer in Paris were injured and hundreds of people were arrested. Macron condemned the 'unacceptable' violence which had occurred during celebrations following PSG's victory as he welcomed the team to the Elysee Palace. 'Nothing can justify what has happened in the last few hours, the violent clashes are unacceptable,' he said before congratulating the team.

Iran rejects 'inflated' IAEA findings

Shafaq News/ Iran rejected the latest International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report on Monday, calling it 'politically motivated' and inflated, while insisting its nuclear program remains peaceful and under full oversight. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei dismissed the findings as a 'repetition of outdated claims' amplified under European pressure, cautioning that Iran is monitoring Western actions at the IAEA and will respond accordingly. Addressing a recent US proposal on the nuclear file, Baqaei clarified that reviewing a draft doesn't imply agreement, stressing that Tehran will reject any deal containing what it deems 'unreasonable demands' or overlooking its rights. 'Verified, practical sanctions relief, especially in banking, is Iran's top priority.' He also reaffirmed Iran's compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty and cooperation with the IAEA, while warning of 'appropriate measures' if major powers continue what he described as 'provocative behavior' within the agency. Rejecting allegations of military dimensions to Iran's nuclear activities, Baqaei blamed what he called 'Zionist [Israeli] narratives' for shaping US regional policy. On Gaza, the Iranian official condemned the humanitarian situation as 'unmatched in scale,' calling for urgent international attention.

Conservative historian wins Polish presidential vote

INA- sources With all votes counted, Right-wing historian Karol Nawrocki has been elected Poland's new president, the state electoral commission (PKW) said. PKW said Nawrocki won 50.9% percent of the votes – ahead of Warsaw's liberal mayor Rafal Trzaskowski on 49.1% percent. It's a sensational turnaround from the result of the first exit poll – published immediately after voting ended at 21:00 local time (19:00 GMT) on Sunday – that showed Trzaskowski winning on 50.3% to Nawrocki's 49.7%. Trzaskowski had claimed victory after the first exit poll, while Nawrocki cautioned that the results were too close to call. "We won, although the phrase 'razor's edge' will forever enter the Polish language and politics," Trzaskowski told his supporters. His wife, Malgorzata, jokingly told the crowd, "I'm close to having a heart attack". Nawrocki, had said after the result of the first exit poll, "Let's not lose hope for this night. We will win during the night, the difference is minimal. I believe that we will wake up tomorrow with President Karol Nawrocki." As Poland's new president, Nawrocki is likely to continue to use his presidential power of veto to block Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's pro-EU programme. The result is also likely also re-energise Nawrocki's supporters, the national conservative Law and Justice (PiS) opposition, which lost power eighteen months ago, giving them renewed belief they will be able to defeat Tusk's coalition in 2027 parliamentary elections. Nawrocki supports traditional Catholic and family values and is a strong supporter of Polish sovereignty within the EU. He backs continued support for Ukraine, but has said he does not want to see the country joining NATO and the EU during Russia's ongoing aggression. Poland's president is a largely ceremonial role with limited influence on foreign policy and defence, but the president can veto legislation. Tusk's pro-EU coalition government lacks a large enough parliamentary majority to overturn it. The current conservative incumbent president, Andrzej Duda, has used his powers to prevent Prime Minister Tusk delivering key campaign promises, including removing political influence from the judiciary and liberalising the country's strict abortion law. Both presidential candidates support continued assistance for neighbouring Ukraine, but they differ over their approach to the EU. Trzaskowski, a former Europe minister, supports Tusk's vision of a Poland at the heart of the European mainstream, influencing decisions through strong relations with Germany and France. Nawrocki, 42, supports a strong sovereign Poland and does not want the country to cede any more powers to Brussels. He opposes the EU's climate and migration policies. He was relatively unknown nationally before he was selected by opposition party PiS to be their "unofficial" candidate. A keen amateur boxer and footballer, he often posts images of himself working out. PiS presented him as a strong candidate who would stand up for ordinary Poles and the country's national interests. A fan of President Donald Trump, he flew to Washington during the Polish election campaign for an extremely brief meeting – and to get a thumbs-up photo of himself with Trump in the Oval Office.
