California dares U.S. as Newsom-Trump feud turns ugly - Governor challenges border czar Tom Homan to arrest him
California Governor Gavin Newsom said the state will sue President Trump's administration. The lawsuit is about Trump using the California National Guard during protests in Los Angeles without Newsom's permission, as per reports.
Newsom said Trump didn't follow the rules. By law, the Department of Defense should have coordinated with the governor. But that never happened, according to Newsom. Newsom has used the National Guard before for emergencies, and he says he's fine working with local police if it's done the right way, according to The Hill report.
He accused Trump of lying and making things worse, saying the President "lit the match" that caused the chaos. Trump posted on Truth Social that the National Guard had done a 'great job,' but Newsom said the troops hadn't even been deployed yet. Newsom called the situation 'Orwellian,' meaning full of lies and cover-ups. He said Trump's actions were 'illegal' and 'unconstitutional', as stated in the reports.

When asked about Tom Homan, the border czar, who said he might arrest Newsom or LA Mayor Karen Bass if they got in the way, Newsom challenged him. Newsom said: 'Come after me, arrest me, I don't give a damn.' He added, 'Let's go.' He called Homan and Trump's team immature, saying they 'need to grow up' and stop 'bloviating', as per the report by The Hill.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended Trump, saying he had to step in because Newsom failed to stop violence in LA. Jackson also said Newsom was lying, and that everyone saw the 'chaos and lawlessness' before Trump acted, as per the report by NewsNation.

Raja Raghuvanshi's final trip: Inside the bloody path taken by Sonal Raghuvanshi which led to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder
A honeymoon trip to Meghalaya turned fatal for 30-year-old Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. On 2 June, his decomposed body was recovered from a gorge near the picturesque Weisawdong Falls in East Khasi Hills. He had been missing since 23 May, just days after arriving with his wife Sonam for what was meant to be a holiday. An autopsy confirmed sharp-force injuries to his head. It was no accident. What followed was a police operation that crossed state lines, uncovered a murder conspiracy, and exposed a chilling betrayal. Five in custody, motive under scrutiny Police have arrested all five individuals linked to the crime. They include Raja's wife Sonam Raghuvanshi (25), her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha (21), and three men accused of executing the murder: Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Anand Kurmi (23), and Akash Rajput (19). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Costco Shoppers Say This Wrinkle Cream Is "Actually Worth It" The Skincare Magazine Undo ACP Poonam Chand Yadav, speaking to India Today TV, confirmed, 'All four accused have confessed to killing Raja Raghuvanshi. The first blow was struck by Vishal alias Vicky Thakur.' Yadav added that Sonam was present at the scene and 'watched her husband die.' The men then allegedly threw Raja's body into a deep gorge. Live Events A murder months in the making Raja and Sonam were married on 10 May in Indore. Less than two weeks later, they travelled to Shillong. On 21 May, they hired a scooter to explore the nearby Sohra region. By the next day, they had vanished. Unbeknownst to Raja, a plan was allegedly already in motion. Vishal, Akash, and Anand took a multi-train route from Indore to Meghalaya, via Guwahati and Shillong. The murder weapon, police say, was purchased near Guwahati railway station. Raj Kushwaha, according to police, stayed back in Indore but helped fund the journey, giving each man ₹40,000 to ₹50,000. Sonam was in regular phone contact with Raj throughout the trip. Operation Honeymoon: The police trail eghalaya Police launched 'Operation Honeymoon' on 7 June after Sonam went missing following Raja's death. CCTV footage showed her meeting the alleged killers just 10 km from the crime scene. She then left Shillong for Indore via Siliguri on 25 May. In Indore, police say she met Raj and stayed with him in a rented house before heading to Uttar Pradesh. On 9 June, local police in Ghazipur found her at a roadside dhaba. She surrendered. Sonam's father has claimed she is being falsely framed and called for a CBI probe. But police cite several pieces of evidence—blood-stained clothing, a broken mobile screen, and a post-murder message from Raja's account reading 'Saat janmon ka saath' (Together for seven lifetimes)—that pointed to her. Despite the confessions, the accused's families maintain their children are innocent. Raj Kushwaha's mother, Chunni Devi, told PTI, 'My son is innocent. He has been framed. How can a 20-year-old boy commit such a big crime? He is the only breadwinner after my husband passed away.' She added, 'He was crying inconsolably when he returned home. I tried to calm him down, saying everything will be fine and there is no use crying.' Raj's sister, Suhani, rejected the allegation of a romantic link with Sonam, stating, 'My brother and Sonam only shared the employee-employer relationship. He addresses Sonam as 'didi', while she calls him 'bhaiya'.' Sonam's father has also accused the Meghalaya Police of 'spinning stories' and has demanded a central investigation. The trail of clues Police uncovered several physical clues at the crime scene. Among them: a blood-stained raincoat belonging to Sonam, which she allegedly handed over to Akash. Akash later discarded it near the gorge. They also recovered a broken mobile screen and a jacket linked to Akash in Uttar Pradesh's Bina district. At the time of his arrest, Anand was reportedly still wearing the same clothes he had on during the murder. Meghalaya Police sent a 20-member team to Madhya Pradesh to apprehend the remaining accused. While much has been pieced together, gaps still remain. It's not yet confirmed whether Sonam stayed back in Meghalaya after the murder or returned immediately to Indore. Police continue to examine phone records and travel timelines. Meanwhile, public interest in the case continues to grow, fuelled by new revelations and the dramatic unfolding of a crime that began with a honeymoon.

US Envoy Says He Does Not Think Palestinian State Is US Policy Goal: Report
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said he did not think that an independent Palestinian state remains a goal of US foreign policy, according to an interview with Bloomberg News released on Tuesday. "I don't think so," Huckabee said when asked if a Palestinian state remains a goal of US policy, Bloomberg reported, Bloomberg reported. Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, is staunch pro-Israel conservative picked by President Donald Trump to be his envoy to Israel. "Unless there are some significant things that happen that change the culture, there's no room for it," Huckabee was quoted as saying. Those probably won't happen "in our lifetime," he told the news agency. Trump, in his first term, was relatively tepid in his approach to a two-state solution, a longtime pillar of US Middle East policy, and he has given little sign of where he stands on the issue in his second term. Huckabee suggested a piece of land could be carved out of a Muslim country rather than asking Israel to make room. "Does it have to be in Judea and Samaria?" Huckabee said, using the biblical name the Israeli government favors for the West Bank, where some 3 million Palestinians live under occupation. The White House and US State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Huckabee's remarks. An evangelical Christian, Huckabee has been a vocal supporter of Israel throughout his political career and a longtime defender of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank. Trump has pursued strongly pro-Israel policies as president and his choice of Huckabee as ambassador signaled that they would continue.

Long-pending central govt's infra projects in Belagavi back on track
Belagavi: Several long-pending central govt's infrastructure projects in and around Belagavi are finally gaining momentum after years of delay, primarily due to land acquisition hurdles. The breakthrough comes with the combined efforts of DC Mohammad Roshan and Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar , who took these stalled projects as a top priority. Key among them is the much-awaited Belagavi-Dharwad railway line via Kittur, a 73-km project sanctioned in 2019 during the tenure of former MP and MoS for railways, the late Suresh Angadi. Despite funding from the Centre, the project was held up for years due to land-related issues. However, DC Roshan recently announced that land acquisition is now complete, and the work is expected to commence shortly. The Halaga-Macche bypass highway, a vital route connecting Pune-Bengaluru NH-4 and Belagavi-Goa national highway, sanctioned in 2009, also faced prolonged delay due to legal land disputes. With the district administration actively mediating and convincing landowners, the impasse has been resolved, and construction is underway. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Another major infrastructure project, the Belagavi Ring Road was sanctioned in 2018. The Rs 3,800 crore project to be executed in three phases, received Rs 1,622 crore for the first phase of 34 km. DC Roshan recently confirmed that 80% of the land acquisition is now complete. This ambitious project, sanctioned under the Bharatmala project, will help resolve the traffic congestion in Belagavi city. "Most of these projects were delayed despite being sanctioned, because of land-related issues. After I became MP, I prioritised these issues, met Union ministers, held review meetings with officials, and visited the sites. Today, we are seeing the results. I expect the required land to be fully acquired in the next 2-3 months and the tender process to begin within 5-6 months," said MP Jagadish Shettar. He credited DC Mohammad Roshan for playing a vital role in resolving bureaucratic and on-ground challenges related to land acquisition. In addition, Shettar informed that land acquisition for Belagavi-Hunagund-Raichur highway, a Rs 1,452 crore project, has also reached near completion. He further assured that the new terminal at Belagavi airport will be ready by March 2026, marking a step toward upgrading the facility to international standards.
