The Moto G Stylus 2025 gets so much right that I don't miss my flagship

Yahoo13 hours ago

It's been two months since I reviewed the Moto G Stylus 2025, and I'm still impressed. I picked the phone back up last week to see what stood out to me after recently using flagship phones like the Motorola Razr Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. No one would confuse those more expensive devices with the midrange power found on the Moto G Stylus 2025, but you'd be surprised.
I expected compromises when moving back to the Moto G Stylus, and they were there. But I was unbothered by them. Highlighting value in midrange and budget phones is what I enjoy most about my job, and the Moto G Stylus 2025 is a prime example of how much you can get for your money. If you're unsure which smartphone you should buy next, here's why this midrange Moto should be near the top of your list for $400.
Motorola made efforts to improve durability across its entire 2025 lineup, and the Moto G Stylus is no exception. I would never confuse it with a flagship phone made from premium materials, but it can withstand a few drops without breaking apart. This year's G Stylus is IP68 dust- and water-resistant and MIL-STD-810H compliant for drop testing. Your best bet for protecting your phone is still a case, but sometimes I want to enjoy the design of my device, and Motorola has made that safer this year.
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy A36 for an upcoming review. It features a high-quality AMOLED panel, but the Moto G Stylus 2025 has a vibrancy and brightness it can't match. Motorola fitted the G Stylus with a fantastic 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 1220 x 2712 Super HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It looks incredible, and I can say it's the most impressive display I've seen on a device under $400. It becomes even more remarkable when I consider that the Moto G Stylus will be available for most of its lifecycle for around $300 new. Moto puts the best displays on budget and midrange devices, and the G Stylus 2025 proves this.
I'm pleased with the performance I get from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in the Moto G Stylus. The phone's 8GB of RAM also keeps things running smoothly, and I'm glad Motorola recognizes the importance of more RAM in budget phones. The aforementioned Galaxy A36 only has 6GB of RAM, and even with the same powerplant, I can tell the difference in performance — the G Stylus is snappier. If you're a big gamer, you might consider spending a few extra dollars on the OnePlus 13R or an older flagship, but for productivity apps and daily tasks, the G Stylus is excellent.
I love that I can easily stretch my Moto G Stylus 2025's battery life for two days if needed, often ending a second day of mixed use with 20% battery remaining.
Software's still a mixed bag with the Moto G Stylus, but it has nothing to do with Hello UI or Android 15. I enjoy Moto's flavor of Android, and the company does an excellent job balancing added features and a stock experience. I wish the company didn't lean so heavily on AI, as I think it's wasted effort at this point, but overall, Moto does a solid job. Unfortunately, software support is weak, and although I've made peace with it, it remains a negative aspect of the phone. You might not care, and if you're trading your phone in after two or three years, taking advantage of the next juicy Motorola carrier deal, it's not something that would prevent you from making a purchase.
I love that I can easily stretch my Moto G Stylus 2025's battery life for two days if needed, often ending a second day of mixed use with 20% battery remaining. Its 5,000mAh cell combined with a power-efficient Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 does the job, and I'm still getting similar performance two months later. The 68W wired charging helps me top off quickly, and the 15W wireless charging is an unexpected perk from a Motorola device in this price range.
I'm impressed with the shots I get from the 50MP primary sensor on the G Stylus. Images are saturated and crisp in good lighting. Sure, the 13MP ultrawide photos fall off, but the 50MP main camera makes up for it, giving excellent, Instagram-ready photos that'll please your friends. It's not a Pixel, but I'm not expecting it to be, especially if I can grab one on a carrier deal or a sale later in the year.
More people should consider using budget and midrange Motorola phones. The company does a fantastic job blending value and performance, and we need more competition here in the US. I promise that Samsung and Google aren't the only Android manufacturers making solid smartphones, and the Moto G Stylus 2025 is an excellent opportunity to break the cycle and try something new.

Analyst Says Apple Has Big Vision Pro Plans For 2027, Including Smart Glasses

Apple will release multiple head-mounted AR and VR products in 2027, with an upgraded Vision Pro headset dropping later this year, according to a report from respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities on Monday. There are three Vision series products currently in development along with four pairs of smart glasses. A Ray-Ban Meta-style smart product will see 3-5 million shipments in 2027. Apple expects to ship out more than 10 million AR/VR products in 2027, suggesting the company sees this as the next major consumer tech category. Later this year, however, Apple will release the Vision Pro M5 Version, which will see an upgrade from Apple's M2 chip. In 2027, Apple will release a lighter Vision Air that'll feature a 40% reduction in weight and will be powered by the latest iPhone processor. A second-generation Vision Pro is slated for 2028 with a brand new and "significantly lighter" design at a lower price. On the smart glasses end, a mass market display-less pair of frames will see a 2027 release. For those wanting an XR experience, extended reality glasses with a built-in see-through color display will come out in 2028. It'll feature AI connectivity. Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Smart glasses market continues to grow The global smart glasses market was valued at $1.93 billion in 2024 and is projected to rise to $8.26 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research. It's why many players in Big Tech are jumping in on creating the next generation of wearable technology. Meta, along with its Ray-Ban and Oakley-branded smart glasses, has shown off its Orion prototype, featuring a transparent display that can project information on the lens. Earlier this year, Google unveiled Android XR, its new AR and VR platform, along with glasses made in collaboration with Qualcomm and Samsung. Chipmaker Nvidia is also working on AI models to help the smart glasses experience. In this race, Meta has the most to gain as it doesn't own a phone or computing platform and is largely beholden to rule changes from Apple, Microsoft and Google. Gaining a footing in the AR and VR space could allow it to own both the hardware and software stack. But Apple has massive brand loyalty, and entrance into this space would be a major threat to Meta's current market dominance. At the moment, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses have sold two million units and its Quest VR headset has also pushed 20 million units.

Apple Weighs Using Anthropic or OpenAI to Power Siri in Major Reversal

Apple Inc. is considering using artificial intelligence technology from Anthropic PBC or OpenAI to power a new version of Siri, sidelining its own in-house models in a potentially blockbuster move aimed at turning around its flailing AI effort. The iPhone maker has talked with both companies about using their large language models for Siri, according to people familiar with the discussions. It has asked them to train versions of their models that could run on Apple's cloud infrastructure for testing, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private deliberations.

Save thousands on an Aiper robotic pool cleaner during the Aiper Day sale

Summer is here, time to rip the tarp off the pool and start enjoying the sunshine. But hold up – the pool has been sitting there for months now. It's collected a film of algae along the bottom. Somehow there's scum a few inches above the waterline. Have the tiles always been that color? Your pool needs rejuvenation. If the idea of cleaning your pool to get ready for summer – and cleaning it regularly throughout the season – is holding you back from planning your pool party, maybe it's time to phone a friend. Aiper is happy to answer the call. Aiper is having a huge sale on pool cleaners during its Aiper Day event. The sale runs until June 30. We're going to spotlight one product in particular that will help with that pool makeover: the Scuba X1 Pro Max. It's an automatic pool cleaner with all the features you need to keep the water fresh and the tiles sparkly, so you can bask in the sun with a margarita. Scuba X1 Pro Max – $1,799 $2,599 31% off If you're familiar with robot vacuums, you get the general appeal of a robotic pool cleaner. You get it set up, let it loose in your pool, and clean the filter when it's done. The manual labor of hand-scrubbing a pool is forgotten. The best part is that your pool gets a fantastic clean – you aren't sacrificing a quality job in favor of convenience. The Scuba X1 Pro Max cleans the floor, walls, and surface and waterline in your pool. After its first time cleaning your pool, it creates a map and plans out the best route for next time. It learns where lights and filters are and can navigate around or even over them with its treads. It can climb stairs, so you know it's getting into every nook in the pool. It will climb your pool walls like a spider and cleans the entire height of the wall, far enough above the water line that you'll get all the gross scum that collects just above the water. The Scuba X1 Pro Max comes with plenty of power and a strong filter. It has 8,500 GPH (gallons per hour) suction, which is powerful enough to deep clean the pool after a period of disuse. It has a very fine filter that will pick up big things like leaves, twigs and even stones but also filter out tiny things like dust, particles, and algae. Just spray the filter with your hose to clean it out. When the Scuba X1 Pro Max is done with its cleaning cycle, it will climb a wall and hang out on the side of the pool until you plug it in or decide to send it back down. If you want a convenient way to carry the Scuba X1 Pro Max outside the pool, consider the Aiper Caddy. It will help you get the Scuba to an outlet without having to carry it. There's currently a sale on a Scuba X1 Pro Max and Aiper Caddy bundle that brings its price down to $1,999 from $2,899. Scuba X1 Pro Max and HydroComm Pro Bundle – $2,299 $3,499 34% off Another neat gadget you can pair with the Scuba X1 Pro Max is the HydroComm Pro. This is a floating water monitor and underwater communication device that keeps track of five different points of data about your pool: temperature, pH level, salt level, electrical current, and cleaning power. It also gives your water a general quality score. It communicates these data points to you via the Aiper app. You'll be completely in the know about the health of your pool – no more surprises. The HydroComm Pro can connect to the Scuba Z1 Pro Max underwater. You can see the complete cleaning history of the pool and compare that with the water quality the HydroComm Pro is giving you. With the integration of HydroComm Pro, you can also communicate with the Scuba X1 Pro Max when it is operating underwater and retrieve it to the surface or change its cleaning mode via Aiper's app. The HydroComm Pro is solar powered, and it can provide 24 hour water monitoring. If it's time to give your pool a solid clean – and keep it clean all summer – don't miss out on the Aiper Day Sale running until June 30. You'll get huge savings on top-quality pool cleaners, including this stand-out deal on the Scuba X1 Pro Max and HydroComm Pro bundle. Getting your pool summer ready doesn't have to be a hassle.
