Teen pleads guilty to vehicular homicide in 112 mph crash that killed three children and a mother
Chase Jones, the then 18-year-old who caused the crash that killed four people and injured two others in Renton on March 19, 2024, pled guilty to four counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault on Thursday.
Jones, now 19 years old, was driving at 112 miles per hour when he crashed into a van, killing three children and a mother.
The victims were Eloise Wilcoxson, 12, Buster B. Brown, 12, and Matilda Wilcoxson, 13, and Andrea Hudson, 38.
Andrea Hudson's two children, Nolan and Charlotte Hudson, survived the crash but have sustained life-changing injuries, a representative from the King County Court said.
Jones will be sentenced on April 25, but his final sentence will be up to a judge's decision. The standard minimum sentence for this category of felony is 17.5 to 23.3 years, according to the King County Courts.
In the wake of the crash, Washington lawmakers have drafted legislation to address accountability for dangerous driving.
HB 1596, known as the Andrea Smith Hudson Act, passed in the House and would mandate Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) devices to regulate the speed of those with a history of speeding. The devices would limit a driver from going more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, according to a bill report.
'There are no words to express the grief, the pain that we feel. Four bright lights are missing from the world and it feels cold and dark,' said Chase Wilcoxson, the father of two children killed following the crash. 'The wounds that we feel will eventually heal, but the scars will remain for the rest of our lives,' he said.

Jail records show that Jones was booked into Kenton County Jail on June 7 and is facing charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer. The former Bengals player was arrested by Covington police and booked at 1:51 a.m. ET. Records show that Jones was later released after posting bond at 11:32 a.m. ET. Covington police officers were called to the Second Story Bar on West Sixth Street at approximately 12:44 a.m. on June 7 following a report of a "disturbance involving a customer and an employee," police said in a news release. When police arrived, they were alerted to a car trying to leave the area, per the release. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the 41-year-old Jones was identified as a passenger. Police arrested Jones "on charges related to his level of intoxication and his behavior," according to the release. Officials said he'd been consuming alcohol. Jones was transported to the Kenton County Detention Center and assaulted the arresting officer while being lodged, police say. Officials said it caused a minor injury. "The Covington Police Department takes incidents of this nature very seriously. We are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all who live in or visit Covington," the department said. "Adam Jones is being held to the same standard of conduct as any other individual in our community." Jones has a history of legal issues. He was arrested in November for an altercation at a Dallas hotel following the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight. A year earlier, Jones pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge in Boone County District Court. The former Bengals standout was arrested early Sept. 11 after Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport police responded to a call about an unruly passenger on a United Airlines flight, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, but that sentence was conditionally discharged for two years, provided Jones avoided new criminal charges. Ever since their dominance of the 1990s, they've served as the poster franchise for taking risks on players with questionable pasts. Some times it works out, other times it doesn't, but since Jerry Jones has been owner of the club, they're well known to give second and third chances. Three of the most recent second-chance players all found themselves in booking photos over a 72-hour period. On Thursday, it was reported that Greg Hardy, signed in 2015 after a domestic violence arrest, had been arrested on Wednesday afternoon or alleging assaulting a family member. In the early hours of Saturday, Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Also in the early hours of Saturday, recent second-round pick Kelvin Joseph was arrested after being involved in a fatal car crash. While some have tried to paint the NFL in a bad light when it comes to arrests, the reality is they have a lower arrest rate (2.5 k per 100,000) than the general public (4k per 100,000) does. It's only that every arrest of an NFL player makes headlines. And while it may seem like the Cowboys have a greater share of NFL arrests than other clubs, that's more than likely because their reputation precedes them. Hardy, most famously, signed a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the Cowboys after his 2014 arrest led to his release from the Carolina Panthers. He did not get along well, consistently missing meetings and clashing with the coaching staff and fellow players. No team signed him after that and he eventually turned to being an MMA fighter to try and capitalize on his athletic nature. After sitting out 2009, he rejuvenated his career in Cincinnati, playing eight seasons for the Bengals, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2015 and a Pro Bowl the following year. Jones, 41, was booked just before 2 a.m. Saturday into Kenton County jail, according to the court log. He was arrested by the Covington Police Department and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, and assault of a police officer or a probation officer. Jones posted a $10,000 bond and was released around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Other details regarding the arrest were not immediately made available. Saturday's arrest in Covington, which is directly across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, marks at least the fourth time since 2021 that Jones has been arrested. He has now been booked on a public intoxication charge three years in a row. Joseph, part of the Cowboys' 2021 class that brought them Micah Parsons and Osa Odighizuwa, was traded away before 2023. he had been arrested for his participation in a fight outside a bar that led to a murder. He was drafted following being removed from the LSU team and having to transfer to Kentucky a year before entering the draft.

'That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!' 'Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out,' Musk added. The extremely former DOGE chief deleted the post sometime Friday night. 'This is one I haven't even seen. I haven't even seen this one before,' Vance told Von before he described the accuastion as 'total BS.' 'Jeez. Man. Well … so just so your audience is aware, when is this going to air? Like, tomorrow or two days from now?' Vance asked. Von joked that the show was airing within minutes before reassuring Vance that wasn't the case. 'I'm just saying, like, presumably when this comes out, people are gonna know more about this than even I do because this kind of happened on the plane when I was coming on down here,' Vance added. Musk and Trump entered into a very public dispute on Thursday morning. The war of words played out on X and in the White House. 'Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore,' Trump told White House reporters the same day. 'I'm very disappointed in Elon. I've helped Elon a lot.' Trump also said he believes he would have won the state of Pennsylvania and the 2024 Election with or without Musk. In response to Trump's remarks, Musk tweeted, 'Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.' In an additional tweet, the billionaire accused Trump of expressing 'such ingratitude.' Trump has also said he believes Musk is incensed because his proposed Big, Beautiful Bill would cut the federal electric vehicle tax credit. 'Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here,' Trump said of Musk. 'He only developed [a] problem when he found out that we're going to have to cut the EV mandate.' Musk deleted his tweets tying Trump to the Epstein files sometime Friday or early Saturday. His tweets inspired Democrats California Rep. Robert Garcia and Massachusetts Rep. Stephen F. Lynch to ask U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Kash Patel to unseal the files. 'We write with profound alarm at allegations that files relating to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have not been declassified and released to the American public because they personally implicate President Trump,' the letter read. In February Bondi released over 100 declassified documents pertaining to Epstein, the so-called 'first phase' of a larger release. The documents are heavily redacted and largely disappointing got those who hoped to gain real insight into the investigation. Trump was asked about another release of documents in April, but said he was unsure of when anything else would come out. 'I don't know. I'll speak to the Attorney General about that.
