LeBron James hypes Cooper Flagg before 2025 NBA Draft
Cooper Flagg gets the LeBron James stamp of approval.
James, on Tuesday's episode of the 'Mind the Game' podcast, said why he liked the presumptive No. 1 NBA draft pick's game.
'I personally think that he wants to be great. He had a hell of a year at Duke,' James said on the show he hosts with Steve Nash. '[Flagg is] a guy that can do so many different things out on the floor. Can play with the ball, can play without the ball. His jump shot is going to continue to get better. Super athletic, quick second jump.'
Ever since the Mavericks won the draft lottery in May, Flagg has been penciled in to be heading to Dallas — an unusual landing spot for a top pick as the team wasn't 'tanking,' is full of veterans and plans to be competitive this past season despite trading away Luka Doncic.
James believes this will work in Flagg's favor.

4 LeBron James raved about Cooper Flagg in Tuesday's episode of his podcast with Steve Nash.

'He has the benefit, unlike myself, he gets to join a team that's established with Hall of Fame guys — Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving — right off the bat. Hall of Fame coach, Jason Kidd,' James added. 'They can give him the whole blueprint while he continues to learn what his blueprint will be.'
In James' day, he was selected by the Cavaliers in 2003 when the team was fresh off an abysmal 17-65 season.
The then-18-year-old was immediately tasked with some heavy lifting for the franchise.
Flagg won't have this typical burden of a No. 1 pick with the veteran options like Davis, Irving and Thompson leading the team – and he'll get to learn a thing or two from them, too.

'I think that will be an incredible thing to have that type of presence, that type of leadership, that type of just basketball IQ and knowledge around him every single day from those pieces,' James said.
Flagg is coined as a unique prospect, as he doesn't blow other prospects out of the water in any one category, but still excels at just about anything.
The 18-year-old racked up just about every honor possible in his lone season at Duke as the Naismith Award winner, Wooden Award winner, the AP Player of the Year and a consensus All American.
4 Cooper Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in his lone season at Duke.

He should make him fit particularly well in Dallas, where the goal is to compete for a championship immediately.
'I think he's going to be amazing,' James said.

Jaylen Brown could be next Celtics trade domino with ‘significant' interest around NBA
It's looking like a fire sale in Boston. Fresh off trading key pieces of their 2024 championship team in Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, the rest of the NBA wants to see if the Celtics will move their Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown, along with complementary two-way wing Derrick White. Advertisement 'It means them phone lines are ringing in Boston,' ESPN's Shams Charania said on 'SportsCenter with Scott VanPelt' on Tuesday following Porzingis heading to Atlanta in a three-way deal. 'My understanding is the Celtics are getting offers, calls on both Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. The Celtics have high price thresholds for both players. We know how great Jaylen Brown and Derrick White are. I'm sure they're getting some massive offers, some pretty big-time calls as well. Their preference has been to keep both players but this is a team that is still in the first apron, still a luxury tax team, still dealing with the uncertainty of Jayson Tatum's status next season.' 4 Jaylen Brown during the 2025 second-round series against the Knicks. NBAE via Getty Images Charania said earlier Tuesday on the 'Stephen A. Smith' show before the Porziginis trade that there were multiple teams with 'significant' interest in Brown. Advertisement He mentioned that Eastern Conference teams could be looking to make a big swing considering the Celtics (Tatum), Pacers (Tyrese Haliburton) and Bucks (Damian Lillard) all could be without superstar players for most of — if not all — of the 2025-26 season due to injuries. 4 Shams Charania discussing the Celtics' moves. @ESPN/YouTube That Boston is even thinking of moving Brown and/or White is the harsh reality for a team that had been in the second tax apron and may be without Tatum for the entire 2025-26 season after he tore his Achilles in Game 4 of the Celtics' second-round series loss to he Knicks. Advertisement Boston is playing the delicate game of trying to reconfigure its roster and get below the second apron while still maintaining a championship window. 4 Jaylen Brown could be available despite his massive contract. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Moving Porzingis and trading Holiday to the Blazers already helped the Celtics get under the second apron in the new, and very complicated, salary cap rules. Trading Brown, whose $49 million salary for the 2025-26 season will be the league's sixth-largest mark thanks to the $304 million deal he signed in 2023, surely will be complicated due to that massive cap hit. Advertisement Charania mentioned Sam Hauser and newcomer Anfernee Simons, acquired in the Holiday deal, as other potential trade candidates. 'Will a team match that price threshold that the Celtics I'm told have set around the league for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White to be able to get them? They are listening, but will a team get there?' Charania said on the eve of the 2025 NBA Draft. 'Just in the span of the last two days, though, they've shed $180 million in luxury tax savings. They've gotten out of the second apron, but with a season next year full of uncertainty, just how much do they want to get out of the aprons and the taxes?' 4 Derrick White and Jaylen Brown could be moved by the Celitcs. Charles Wenzelberg/New York Post Several teams are positioned well to make swings for a superstar, including the Nets, who are hoarding five draft picks in Thursday's NBA Draft. Brooklyn has been linked to Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo by The Post's Brian Lewis, but there are questions about whether he will be made available. The Houston Rockets, who just traded for Kevin Durant, could also be in the mix, considering they own plenty of the Suns' future draft picks and still retained young players Tari Eason and Jabari Smith.

Ravens star dismisses the noise once and for all with one clear message
A rumored exit gets silenced once and for all by Rashod Bateman. There are stepping-stone jobs and destination jobs. Coaching Duke football can be seen as a former role. Leading the Alabama Crimson Tide is the latter. Football is one of our great country's national sports. One never knows whether their current dwelling is their 'forever home' or another leg of the journey. Coaches, players, and their children feel it worse than anyone else, the spectre of possibly needing to adjust to a new city and environment. Take Rashod Bateman, for instance. He has been a Baltimore Ravens star since entering the league, but uncertainty about his future plagued most of his spring. Then, it happened. He agreed to terms on an extension on June 5th. It was a nice close to a few months that were filled with uncertainty. That didn't stop the rumors that followed. Though many of them were quiet, they began almost immediately. There were whispers that the Dallas Cowboys were interested. Then came conversations about the Green Bay Packers. Ultimately, the Ravens shut everything down before anything gained any traction. Then, there was the response by Mr. Bateman. Baltimore is where he wanted to be all along. "'I knew I wanted to be back in Baltimore, but I've seen the business, and obviously, you just never know. That's the first thing I told (Eric) DeCosta in a mature way when we first got on the phone, 'With all due respect, I want to be here,' that was the first thing I said. And I think that helped us get to this point where we're at today.' Those were Rashod's words while speaking on an episode of The Lounge Podcast with Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing. Bateman has developed a reputation. He's one of the 'silent assassins'. He doesn't talk much, but when he does, the words hit with intent and succinctness. Contract discussions are in the rearview mirror. Now, he can focus on being part of what can be a potent Ravens offense for years to come. The Ravens' business model in roster building includes signing veteran wide receivers. Ozzie Newsome and Eric DeCosta have long stocked the cupboard with the likes of Derrick Mason, Mike Wallace, Anquan Boldin, Steven Smith Sr, Odell Beckham Jr, and DeAndre Hopkins. There's also a youth movement transpiring. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are leading the charge. Look for another phenomenal season by Lamar Jackson through the air after throwing for 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns last season.
