Uh, price check please?! This Kate Spade bag and wallet bundle really is $470 off
The long weekend is here, and Presidents' Day sales are in full swing! From major discounts on wardrobe staples to kitchen favorites, there are plenty of savings to be had. One sale you definitely don't want to miss? Kate Spade Outlet's Presidents' Day sale.
Right now, the retailer is offering steep savings sitewide — you can score up to 70% off everything and take an extra 20% off select styles on top of that. A serious standout in this sea of deals? The Madison Medium Satchel Bundle. This duo regularly retails for $628, but you can snag it for $158 and get a free tote bag to sweeten the deal even more — that's 74% off, and a massive $470 in savings.
Deals don't get much better than this. Remember, this is a bundle deal, so you're getting a leather purse and a matching leather wallet — as well as an adorable pink polka-dot tote — for less than $160.
The purse is usually priced at $429 and the wallet is usually $199. And while these are gorgeous leather styles, those prices would definitely put the pieces firmly in the investment category. So while you can buy the purse and wallet separately, the real bargain is this bundled deal. FYI: Both items are final sale, but just look at them — a return will probably never cross your mind.
Whether you're shopping for yourself or need a great gift, this stylish bundle is a guaranteed hit. Both the purse and wallet are made with soft, supple Saffiano leather and feature polished gold hardware.
The Madison satchel is a great everyday bag and has plenty of room for your phone, wallet, sunnies and beauty essentials. Plus, it has a detachable shoulder strap that you can easily adjust to your preferred length. The Madison wallet has a coin pocket, two slip pockets, nine credit card slots, a bill slot and a clear ID slot, but it's surprisingly slim for a bifold.
While we're partial to this classic black duo that can be worn all year long, you can mix it up and purchase the wallet in cream, red, pink or green. You really can't go wrong when it comes to mixing and matching with a neutral!
Both pieces have plenty of glowing reviews to back them up.
Many shoppers complimented the purse on its convenient size. "Absolutely stunning bag. Quality is top-notch... [It's the] perfect size — not too big and not too small," wrote one pleased customer. Another echoed that sentiment and shared: "I am utterly in love with this purse. It is very classy, has lots of room and absolutely goes with everything. Would buy this handbag again in a heartbeat!"
One savvy gift-giver wrote: "This purse is one of my favorites. I've been giving Kate Spade as gifts for over two years. I've finally treated myself to one. The materials, details, the styles and the craftmanship are five-star."
As for the wallet, one reviewer explained: "This was going to be a gift for my friend … however, after I opened it, I fell in love, so I got my friend another [Kate Spade] product and I kept the wallet. I didn't know I needed it in my life, but now it's mine."
While there weren't many complaints, one thoughtful reviewer did remark on a quirk of the bag: "This bag is so pretty! The color is perfect. I got a matching wallet as well. Per another review, it does 'squeak' a little as I pull it open, but [I] feel once the leather is broken in, it will be fine."
The wallet was also a hit with Kate Spade lovers, but a reviewer did note that it's "very stiff, [making it] hard to get cards out and paper money in. I am hoping it will loosen up with use."

The woman stuck between Trump and Musk
When Elon Musk arrived at the White House he came with his own personal guide to Washington. Katie Miller had been a key figure in the first Trump White House, handling communications for Mike Pence, the vice-president, and she brought strong relationships with the loyalists in the second Trump White House – not least her husband Stephen, deputy chief of staff and a figure often thought of as the administration's 'prime minister'. In January she was back, taking on a role with the Department of Government Efficiency that made her Mr Musk's 'sherpa'. Now she is caught in the middle of an extraordinary political uncoupling. She left the administration with Mr Musk last week to work for him full time. But with the world's richest man falling out with the president she finds herself at the centre of intrigue, her personal life picked over, and with former allies wondering where her loyalties lie. 'Ultimately, Katie is super loyal,' said an official who knew her in the first Trump White House. 'It's that loyalty that allows her to be a fierce, effective defender, whether that was Mike Pence or that's Trump or now Elon Musk. 'But that loyalty is going to be put to the test. I think that there probably is a breaking point.' Katie Waldman, as she was then, joined the White House in 2019 during Mr Trump's first term, bringing a bite to a mild mannered vice-president's operation. She became a familiar sight, chastising reporters for unfavourable coverage or awkward questions. She found love with Stephen Miller, who was growing in influence as a speechwriter and architect of the president's hardline immigration stance. Mr Trump attended the wedding at his Washington DC hotel in early 2020. 'He is the only one who could have a damn wedding in the middle of Presidents' Day weekend,' Mr Trump reportedly said. Mr Miller stayed with the former president through his wilderness years after defeat in that year's election. But his wife was quietly edged out of Mr Pence's team as he prepared for his own presidential run. Her combative style put her at odds with Karen Pence, the former second lady. That may only have helped her standing in Trump world, where the Pences became hate figures after the vice-president refused to declare Mr Trump the winner of the 2020 election. She was one of the first of the president-elect's appointments, named to the Doge advisory board. She was allowed to keep up consulting work, even as she took on the role of 'special government employee'. 'People were nervous about Elon and his energy,' said one insider. 'Katie's presence went a long way to reassuring everyone.' Some White House insiders made sure to keep out of Mr Musk's way. They had seen Mr Trump's relationships blow up before, but Mrs Miller was central to the tech billionaire's role. 'Her husband also looked out for Mr Musk. The tech billionaire reportedly spent large amounts of time with the Millers, making them a power couple at the heart of the White House. That is until Mr Musk said he was leaving his role. With her 130 days as a 'special government employee' coming to an end, she reportedly followed him to work for him full time. But if she thought she would be the billionaire's bridge to the White House, things became a lot more complicated. As the row unfolded, Mr Musk apparently unfollowed Mrs Miller's husband on X. That said, the former official from the first Trump White House, would have left Mrs Miller in a deeply awkward position. 'I don't think she can sit there when he's tweeting out 'You wouldn't have been able to win without me',' he said. 'There is probably a limit to her ability to stand that.' Kate Spade remembered 7 years after her death
Seven years ago this week, the fashion world was stunned by the death of designer Kate Spade. Spade died by suicide on June 5, 2018, in her apartment in New York City. The fashion designer, best known for her eponymous line of colorful handbags and whimsical clothing and accessories, was 55 years old at the time of her death and the mother of a teenage daughter she shared with her husband and business partner Andy Spade. In an interview with The New York Times following Kate Spade's death, Andy Spade said that perhaps no one was more shocked by the death of his wife, from whom he was unofficially separated at the time, than those who knew her best. "We were in touch with her the night before and she sounded happy. There was no indication and no warning that she would do this," he told the newspaper. "It was a complete shock. And it clearly wasn't her. There were personal demons she was battling." Andy Spade also said at the time that although his partner of 35 years suffered from depression and anxiety, she'd been seeing a doctor regularly and was taking medication to combat the conditions. Contrary to reports, he added, there were no substance abuse issues, nor were there any business problems. Kate Spade started the Kate Spade New York line with her husband in 1993, and she eventually sold all her shares in the company in 2006. She launched a new line in 2016 called Frances Valentine. Her partner in both business ventures was also her best friend, Elyce Arons, whom she met as a freshman at the University of Kansas in 1981. Arons shares new memories of Kate Spade in her upcoming memoir, "We Might Just Make It After All: My Best Friendship with Kate Spade," to be released June 17. In an excerpt from the memoir shared with People earlier this week, Arons recalls how Kate Spade was hesitant to have her name on the Kate Spade New York fashion line. Kate Spade's idea for a handbag line, according to Arons, came from not being able to find the right handbag for a fashion shoot while working at the publication Mademoiselle in the mid-1980s. "It was time to name the baby. Andy's idea was to combine Katy's first name with his last name -- Katy became 'Kate' because Andy liked the rhythm of two one-syllable words together," Arons writes in her book. "Katy liked it a lot, too, but her shyness made her cautious. 'Don't expect me to be Kate Spade!' she said when we first agreed on the name, and many times after that." The handbag line became a huge success and later grew to include clothing, accessories and fragrance. When Kate Spade New York was sold in 2006, Arons said its founders celebrated with a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where she said she and her best friend talked about the future. "On our last night in Cabo, Katy and I stole away for a sunset cocktail by the beach. We both ordered margaritas," Arons writes in her memoir. "'So what's next?' I asked. Katy replied, 'Whatever it is, we'll do it together.'" Later in the book, Arons writes what it has been like to live with the grief of losing her friend to suicide. "All of us who loved her have had to find a way to make peace with her incomprehensible choice. It's not been easy. I've learned to never take the people whom I care about for granted," she writes. "As I tell my closest friends: Go to your sister or your best girlfriend who's just like a sister to you. Go to her today and hug her so hard that it's like you won't ever let her go."
