Man United suffer blow in pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic with striker 'unwilling to leave Juventus this summer'

Daily Maila day ago

Manchester United target Dusan Vlahovic has no plans to leave Juventus this summer despite an increasingly tense relationship with the club, according to reports in Italy.
Vlahovic, who joined Juventus for £62m back in 2022, has scored 57 goals in 144 matches for the club.
The 25-year-old is heading into the final year of his contract in Turin and is on United's list of striking targets.
The Red Devils are looking to bolster their forward options after scoring just 44 goals in the Premier League last season.
It is clear that a new No 9 is a priority this summe with Rasmus Hojlund having disappointed since his big money move two years ago.
Juve are willing to cash in on Vlahovic or tie him down to a new contract on lower wages.
And La Gazzetta dello Sport claim he has rejected the idea of either of those things happening.
The 25-year-old intends to run down his contract and then leave for a new team on a free next summer.
The situation complicates things in terms of the Serie A side's pursuit of Lille's Jonathan David this summer.
The report adds that that free transfer is highly unlikely to take place if Vlahovic stays.

'I'm not sure this United team can be rebuilt quickly'

Our chief football writer Phil McNulty has been taking your asked: What do you think of Manchester United's transfer strategy? Cunha, trying to sign Mbeumo and heavy links to Gyokeres. Seems like it's just trying to buy players who had a good season last year as opposed to scouting and confirmed long-term ability and/or replied: It seems to be a move towards signing players who have proved they can cut it in the Premier League, and I think that is a sound start on what has to be a massive rebuild.I'm not sure this United team can be rebuilt quickly, considering how mediocre it is, but those two players – and we are still waiting on the Mbeumo deal to progress – will certainly give them more quality and threat right away.I feel they need an upgrade on Andre Onana in goal and a quality central striker, but how much of that can be done this summer remains to be seen.

China's robot footballers stumble through first tournament

Robots may be our future overlords, but when it comes to the beautiful game humans will be the masters for some time yet. China held its first fully autonomous AI robot football tournament at the weekend and the quality of play was more mess than Messi. Touted as a preview for the upcoming World Humanoid Robot Games, the tournament proved closer to playground football than even Sunday league standard. The cybernetic soccer players tumbled and crashed their way into each other during a series of three-on-three matches — about the only thing they had in common with their professional human counterparts is that they went to ground easily. The four teams of players powered entirely by artificial intelligence faced each other in Beijing on Saturday night. Left to their own devices, the child-sized robots struggled to navigate the field without falling and crashing into each other, despite being equipped with advanced visual sensors.
