Engineering Design Center
in Plano, Texas. This investment underscores LTTS' commitment to delivering advanced solutions in AI & Tech and establish more near shore centers tailored to the evolving needs of our clients.
As an ITAR-compliant facility, the center is equipped to design, develop, and test defense-related products and systems. The new design hub will also focus on advanced cybersecurity solutions, including a Security Operations Center (SoC), an enabler for Smart City technologies. Starting with a capacity to house 100 engineers, the center aims to create more than 350 high-skilled jobs in core business segments including Mobility and Tech.
Inaugurated by the Honorable Mayor of Plano, John B. Muns, Vice President at Caterpillar, Tim Graham, Honorable Consul General of India in Houston, Manjunath Chenneerappa, and President & Executive Director (Mobility & Tech) at LTTS, Alind Saxena, the center exemplifies innovation and cross-pollination of technologies. Palayam market shop owners get two days to shift goods
Thiruvananthapuram: Tension prevailed at Palayam's historic Connemara Market on Saturday when city corporation officials, backed by police, forcibly removed goods from shops. The authorities said they were clearing vendors from the marketplace to make way for its redevelopment. According to traders, a large contingent of police accompanied by corporation staff came to the market at 11am and proceeded to haul away merchandise from about 140 shops deemed part of the redevelopment zone. Shop owners immediately confronted the team, leading to heated exchanges and accusations of overreach. Some traders claimed that their stalls were being dismantled before alternate arrangements were fully operational. The traders then requested the corporation to give them two days to transfer their inventory safely. The authorities agreed but stipulated that the traders must sign an agreement affirming their commitment to vacate the place. Waste corp seeks new green nod for Verna plant
Panaji: After failing to get an environmental clearance (EC) to set up an integrated solid waste management and waste-to-energy plant at Verna for two years, the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) decided to speed up the process and file a fresh application before the state environment impact assessment authority (SEIAA). This plant would be the fourth plant in the state. There were some technical issues which led to the delay in the EC, but it has now been decided to clear all the queries and approach the authority for a fresh EC, a senior official said. The GWMC said that a waste-to-energy plant will be set up at Verna at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore and will generate 16MW electricity and 38MW heat while processing 250 tonnes of waste per day (TPD). The project is the first of its kind in Goa, and since the non-biodegradable waste is continuously generated, the project will sustain itself, a senior govt official said. The electricity department will procure the power, and the steam generated at the plant will be supplied to industries to be utilised in manufacturing processes, the officer said. 'The objective of the plant is to generate electricity and steam from the non-biodegradable waste by adopting environment-friendly processes, and the outcome of the project includes long-term management of non-biodegradable waste without harming the environment,' the officer said. The non-biodegradable waste is stored in sheds in the panchayat jurisdiction, where the recyclable fraction of non-biodegradable waste is recovered and sent for recycling. The non-recyclable waste is stored in the shed and is collected by the GWMC. The corporation then bales this non-recyclable waste and sends it to various cement plants in Karnataka to be used as a fuel alternative in kilns, thus making it refuse derived fuels (RDF). 'The cost of transportation of such RDF is almost Rs 1,000 per tonne. The state is fully dependent on the Karnataka-based cement plants for the disposal of RDF,' the senior official said. He said that if there is a direction in the near future by the Karnataka state pollution control board for the stoppage of transportation of interstate waste, it will lead to the accumulation of RDF in water bodies and thereby affect aquatic life and also the flora and fauna. 'So, in order to have our own facility in Goa, it is proposed to establish a 250 TPD waste-to-energy plant,' he said. The plant at Verna will cater to the waste generated in Mormugao taluka and some parts of Salcete taluka. The plant will be set up on an area of 1 lakh sqm, and the environment impact study for the plant has already been done.

G-7 countries agree to the ‘Side by Side' tax deal for US companies: Here's what it means
The US and fellow Group of Seven nations have reached an agreement aimed to prevent a global tax war, by establishing a 'side-by-side' tax system. This new arrangement would exempt US companies from some elements of an existing global agreement. A key component of this deal involved the US officials agreeing to remove Section 899 from President Donald Trump's tax-cut bill, This provision, often referred to as the 'revenge tax' would have increased taxes on the US income of non-US-based businesses and individuals from countries whose tax policies Washington deems discriminatory. The side-by-side system could 'provide greater stability and certainty in the international tax system moving forward,' the G-7 advanced economies said Saturday in a statement. As part of the agreement, the other G-7 members will support the US's stance in ongoing negotiations with the Group of 20 countries and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which has been hosting global talks on corporate taxes, with some proposals drawing opposition from the US. Officials from the G-7 said they look forward to coming up with a solution that is 'acceptable and implementable to all,' according to the statement. While some progress has been made, the issue of 'digital services taxes,' remains only partially addressed. Some countries currently levy these taxes on the profits of US-based technology companies including Meta Platforms Inc. and Inc. The effort to establish a side-by-side system will include a 'constructive dialogue on the taxation of the digital economy and on preserving the tax sovereignty of all countries,' according to the G-7 statement. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Thursday that he had asked Senate and House leadership to remove Section 899 from the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act after securing G-7 backing for the side-by-side system. Senate Republicans deleted the section in the latest version of the tax bill.
