Casric have best chances but held to draw by Orbit in playoffs opener
Orbit College and Casric Stars played to a 0-0 draw in their first match of the Premier Soccer League promotion play-offs at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Wednesday. After weeks of delays due to protests and legal cases, the play-offs finally got under way with the clash between the two Motsepe Foundation Championship teams. Orbit were hoping for a victory since they were playing at home, but could not capitalise on that advantage and were left disappointed with the draw. Casric Stars coach Joseph Mthombeni following their goalless draw against Orbit College in the opening match of the #PSLPromotionPlayoffs! #SABCSportFootball โ SABC Sport (@SABC_Sport) June 11, 2025 Stars came close to breaking the deadlock, but Orbit goalkeeper Sekhoane Moreane denied Thabang Semache's attempt. Moreane made sure Casric did not find the back of the net in the first half, with a few top saves. Orbit could not create enough decent scoring chances in the opening half and were restricted to a single shot on target in the match. Both teams had their moments, though it was Stars had better chances but failed to convert them. Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye reacting to their goalless draw against Casric Stars! #SABCSportFootball #PSLPromotionPlayoffs โ SABC Sport (@SABC_Sport) June 11, 2025 Stars were compact in their defence, which made it difficult for Orbit to break them down and create decent chances, with the result they never had a shot on target in the second half. As the match progressed, Orbit looked tired. This could be because they had to wait for more than two weeks before playing after the playoffs were put on hold. The result may give Cape Town City a chance to take an early lead if they win against Orbit at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

Orlando Pirates find 'the new Tlou Segolela'
Orlando Pirates need to bolster their wide attacking options, with continued talk that Monnapule Saleng will leave the club. Tshepang Moremi is seen as a good option. Pirates want rotation options to avoid burnout for Mohau Nkota. 24-year-old AmaZulu winger Tshepang Moremi enjoyed a productive 2024-2025 campaign. He made 28 league appearances for Usuthu, scoring three goals and assisting seven. He's got pace and directness to burn. Pirates fans will remember another speed merchant, Tlou 'Gautrain' Segolela, who Moremi isn't dissimilar to. 'SABC Sport has established that Orlando Pirates are pushing to sign winger Tshepang Moremi from AmaZulu, with discussions believed to be advanced and a deal now likely,' the report said. 'It's understood these talks are progressing with ease given the history between the two sides with previous deals during the transfer window as well as the mutual respect that exists among the two clubs,' Molefe added. What is there to know about 23-year-old Tshepho Mashiloane? Well, the versatile defender can operate at right-back or in central midfield. This will be a considerable boost for the Pirates technical team; although they have a strong squad at their disposal, both full-back positions are relatively weak spots after the release of Thabiso Monyane and Mako. With experience in the second tier, it's also hoped that he's ready for a battle. Click for a full profile Tshepho Mashiloane in action for Baroka FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Image: IOL Orlando Pirates have moved quickly to secure a replacement for the departed Miguel Timm. 23-year-old Masindi 'Confidence' Nemtajela is the man. The all-action schemer made 17 appearances for Gallants in the league last season, scoring once, supplying two assists and picking up four bookings. Click for the story Is Moremi the real deal?
