Plans for the new site were revealed last year, making it the 15th branch for Superbowl UK in England and Wales.Kate Quaintance, acquisitions director for Superbowl UK, said they were delighted to start welcoming customers.Councillor Chris Burden added the authority wanted the opening to be "a catalyst for further investment" in the city while they work with the owners of the Mander Centre to attract new leisure and food and beverage businesses."Alongside Superbowl UK, the city centre will also be boosted by the opening of the new 4-screen Lockworks Cinema in the Chubb Building this summer and a new indoor climbing facility coming to the former Express & Star offices in Queen Street," he said.

Ticketek warns buyers against using multiple browsers amid complaints over Ashes ticket sales

Ticketek has downplayed reports of widespread problems with its online sales platform from cricket fans trying to buy tickets to the Ashes, saying multiple browsers can trigger bot protection services designed to protect customers. On Tuesday evening, Cricket Australia announced it had recorded its highest individual day of ticket sales ever. But the hours before saw a chorus of frustrated fans venting at the online queue for the tickets presale window, which opened in the afternoon. The men's Ashes series against England begins in November in Perth. Tickets to all five tests across Australia were on sale during the presale window. Several people claimed that as they neared the front of the digital queue, after waiting for hours, they lost their place due to a computer glitch – and that when they were able to rejoin the queue, more than 180,000 people were ahead of them. Others claimed their tickets 'timed out' while they were checking out. A Ticketek spokesperson told the Guardian that 'the demand for Cricket Australia's Summer of Cricket today has sold at an unprecedented rate, all without issue'. 'We recognise that when we have high-demand events with limited inventory that some fans will miss out and will be disappointed,' they said. 'We encourage all customers not to use multiple browsers when trying to access tickets. Our systems are designed to prevent and block access from bots, and customers attempting to access the site with multiple browsers may be flagged by our bot prevention service,' the spokesperson said. Despite Ticketek's claim that customers' ejection from the queue was related to them having multiple tabs or browsers opened logged in with their presale details, some customers reportedly faced this issue despite only having one tab open. More than 160,000 tickets had been sold to the tests in the other four cities before tickets to the Perth test even went on sale, Cricket Australia said in its statement. The sales broke the previous record of 111,741 tickets sold in an individual day, in the 2017/18 series presale window. Cricket Australia's CEO, Todd Greenberg, said: 'to surpass our previous ticket sales record even before NSW and WA tickets had gone on sale is a remarkable achievement'. 'I would urge those who haven't already bought their tickets to do so now as we expect allocations to be exhausted for some days.'

AllPay launches Dosh prepaid card in the UK

Dosh, a prepaid Mastercard® account backed by allpay Limited and its 30-year public sector heritage, removes common barriers to entry, such as rigid ID and address checks, offering a more inclusive route to financial services for people often left behind by the mainstream, from those new to the UK to individuals in temporary housing. 6 This content is provided by an external author without editing by Finextra. It expresses the views and opinions of the author. In a market entrenched with surprise fees, gimmicks, bureaucracy, and barriers, DOSH arrives as the fintech challenger the unbanked have been waiting for. Backed by allpay's 30-year legacy of powering public sector payments, DOSH is a UK-focused prepaid Mastercard® account that upends banking norms with flexible ID options through its 'Vouch For' onboarding, alongside transparent pricing, financial literacy tools, and real UK-based human support. 'Traditional banks have built walls for the unbanked, DOSH's mission is to build bridges. We've created a fairer way to access financial services, designed for real life, not red tape. Whether you're paid in cash, don't have a standard ID, or just want a clearer way to manage your money, DOSH has been built to give you control, clarity, and confidence as your first step towards financial stability, all backed by allpay's three decades of trusted public service,' says Michelle Pacey, Managing Director of allpay. The Problem? In one of the world's leading economies, nearly one million people still live without access to a bank account. Across the EU, 13 million more are unbanked - relying on cash, costly credit, or informal workarounds just to get by. Without access to basic financial services, everyday tasks like paying rent, receiving wages, or building credit become significantly harder, deepening financial vulnerability. The unbanked in the UK are often among the most vulnerable, these include people experiencing homelessness, recent migrants, those in low-paid or unstable work, and individuals who lack the forms of ID or proof of address that traditional banks demand. For these individuals, being unbanked isn't just an inconvenience; it's a barrier to everyday life. It means struggling to receive wages or benefits, pay bills securely, or participate in the digital economy. This gap in access deepens inequality and leaves many stuck in cycles of poverty, excluded from the tools that help others build resilience and move forward. The DOSH Solution DOSH exists to challenge this norm, created not just as an alternative to mainstream banking but as a response to the systemic issues that keep people locked out of it. Designed to break down the real-world barriers that keep people unbanked. With flexible ID options, including the ability to be vouched for, and a fast, paperless sign-up process, it removes the red tape that often blocks access. Clear, jargon-free fees and instant transaction alerts build trust and financial confidence, while nationwide Post Office access will ensure cash-in and cash-out remain easy. Most importantly, DOSH puts its customers in control, from budgeting tools to real human support, it is a genuine first step towards financial inclusion and independence. Why It Matters Without access to a basic bank account, millions end up paying late-payment fees, falling into arrears, or resorting to high-cost credit. DOSH helps you build reliable payment habits and a strong money history, turning day-to-day stress into confident, future-focused planning. 'DOSH isn't just a product, it's a mission,' says Tony Killeen, allpay's Founder and Entrepreneur. 'It's the result of everything we've learned in 30 years of serving the public sector. We're building a platform that gives the most vulnerable dignity, access, and a path toward financial stability.' Availability & Next Steps DOSH launches across the UK later this year, with early-access and beta registration open now

McDonald's takes second bite at Dumfries planning approval

Burger giant McDonald's has submitted fresh plans for a second drive-through restaurant in Dumfries after its original application was recommended for company said it had revised its £4m proposals off the town's Annan road which were withdrawn in December last said the new application should address the concerns which had been raised by Dumfries and Galloway Council planning previously recommended refusal of the bid due to its visual impact and the failure to demonstrate that a more "appropriate site" could not be found. Andrew Crewther, senior acquisitions surveyor with McDonald's, said the revised plans directly addressed those concerns."We explored alternative sites at the Peel Centre, but one is already earmarked for Costa, and the other has permission for a much smaller unit that doesn't meet our operational needs," he said."The application also responds to feedback from council officers by repositioning the building and adding new tree planting to help soften the development's appearance and create a buffer from the A75."Alongside delivering significant inward investment and creating 120 new local jobs, the new restaurant would also support more sustainable travel by improving local access to a McDonald's restaurant."The revised planning application will be considered by the council's planning committee in due course.
