Trees knocked down, homes damaged by storms through Georgia
Storm damage reports are coming in Monday from across metro Atlanta and other parts of Georgia.

Georgia Power said around 4 p.m. that more than 16,000 customers were without power, and Georgia EMC reported more than 12,000 without power, including 3,300 in metro Atlanta.
Trees and powerlines are down in Carroll County. Cypress Circle was one of about a dozen areas in that county that crews were working to clean up.
The storms also sent a tree crashing onto a house and a car, taking down powerlines along with it, in Cobb County. Acworth City Power crews responded to Rockdale Road to make repairs.
'Heard a huge snap, the giant tree fell across the street, smacked the neighbor's house, all the while, I was literally driving under the power cords when they started to bungee up and down,' a neighbor said.
Standing water caused road hazards around Cobb, including along I-75 and I-285.
Further south, a viewer from Lamar County showed a massive tree more than 100 years old that crashed down on their farm.

Local nature preserve announces emergency partial closure due to storm damage
The Glen Helen Nature Preserve announced an emergency partial closure following a strong storm Saturday night into Sunday morning. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The nature preserve posted to social media that the 405 Cory Street entrance is closed until further notice. Those heading out to the nature preserve are asked to use the Cascades parking lot at 1075 State Route 343. The storm ripped the boardwalk apart and caused a large tree to fall on the bridge, according to the post. It also disrupted the wildlife throughout the nature preserve, like the beavers. 'Our resident beavers who are those our devoted and humble engineers of the forest—were uprooted and flooded from their home, now seeking refuge after a night of chaos," the post said. The road to the Outdoor Education Center is temporarily closed due to a downed tree. The staff said they are now facing one of their largest restoration efforts. ‘Extreme weather' damages Dunwoody home, causes power outages
A fast-moving, quick storm rolled through a Dunwoody neighborhood in DeKalb County Saturday night. Power was knocked out and trees toppled over near Glenbonnie Drive and Peeler Road. One of the homes damaged belonged to a family whose neighbors say just moved in days ago. Jennifer Rao saw the destruction and said, 'you can see the insulation, you can see inside of their house, it's scary.' Georgia Power reported around 9 p.m. that close to 400 customers were without power in the area. The utility company said, 'Extreme weather caused widespread outages.' 'It was blowing really hard,' said Quinton Alberto. 'The trees in the back were swaying back and forth for a minute.' Georgia Power did not have an estimate of the number of crews that were out working or when power would be restored. However, the company encourages customers to sign up for text alerts so that they can get updates immediately. DeKalb County Fire said no one was injured in the home that was damaged by the toppled tree.
