Kirkuk bounces back: CCHF recovery reported
Shafaq News/ One patient diagnosed with Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) has fully recovered and been discharged from hospital, leaving only a single active case under treatment in Kirkuk, health officials said on Monday.
Arjan Mohammed Rashid, head of the Kirkuk Health Directorate, told Shafaq News that the patient was released after completing treatment and receiving confirmation of full recovery from the medical team.
'The health situation is under control,' Rashid said, noting that only one patient remains hospitalized and is receiving appropriate care. He added that medical and preventive teams continue to monitor the situation and enforce precautionary measures.
Rashid urged the public to follow health guidelines and cooperate with authorities by reporting any suspected cases.
The Iraqi Ministry of Health announced, on Sunday, that five new cases of CCHF have been confirmed, bringing the nationwide total to 19 since the beginning of 2025.

'We are approaching mass death,' said the general director of the Health Ministry in an interview with al-Jazeera, accusing Israel of systematically destroying Gaza's healthcare system to facilitate forced displacement and settlement expansion. Gaza's hospitals are running out of fuel, with officials confirming they may shut down within 48 hours. 'Hospitals are operating on strict electricity rationing. CCHF on the rise: Iraq confirms 109 infections ahead of Eid al-Adha
Shafaq News/ Iraq has confirmed 109 cases of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) so far this year, the Health Ministry reported on Saturday. The ministry urged citizens to adhere to safety measures during Eid al-Adha, citing heightened risk from unregulated livestock slaughter and direct animal contact. 'Most cases are linked to unauthorized butchering and informal animal handling,' ministry spokesperson Saif al-Badr stated. Deputy Health Minister Hani al-Okaili called on the public to avoid street-side butchering. 'We advise citizens to purchase meat from licensed slaughterhouses and use gloves and designated tools when handling raw meat,' he told Shafaq News. Dhi Qar remains the hardest-hit province with 31 cases and one death, followed by eastern Baghdad (11 cases, five deaths), Wasit (12 cases, one death), Muthanna (eight cases, two deaths), and Maysan (eight cases, no deaths), with more cases in 13 other provinces.

Eid al-Adha bloodshed: Israel kills 34 Palestinians in Gaza
Shafaq News/ At least 34 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, as military operations extended into the second day of Eid al-Adha, Arab media reported. The deadliest strike reportedly hit the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, where displaced civilians were sheltering. Medical staff at Nasser Medical Complex confirmed 13 deaths and over 40 injuries from early morning shelling. Five more Palestinians were killed near a humanitarian aid center west of Rafah. Witnesses said Israeli forces opened fire on crowds waiting for food. Another strike on a home near Gaza City's al-Shifa Medical Complex killed one and wounded several others. Artillery also pounded Beit Lahiya in the north. Gaza's Government Media Office reported that Israeli forces have shot and killed at least 110 Palestinians at American-supported food distribution sites since the war began. Another 583 have been injured, and nine remain missing. Residential areas reportedly continued to be demolished across northern and southern Gaza, including parts of eastern Jabalia and neighborhoods near Khan Younis. Gaza's Health Ministry reported that the total number of casualties from Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023, has reached 54,677 deaths and 125,530 injuries. Since March 18 alone, at least 4,402 people have been killed and 13,489 wounded.
