Police in a Chicago suburb are searching for a man suspected of stabbing a woman and a young girl, identified by local media as his sisters.
The Streamwood Police Department identified 25-year-old Jalonie Jenkins as the suspect involved in the killing of a 21-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl in Streamwood, Illinois, on Wednesday evening, May 28.
Jenkins' last known location was in Bensenville, a suburb near the Chicago O'Hare International Airport, police said.
The two victims were identified as Janyia Jenkins, 21, and Eyani Jones, 10, the Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed to USA TODAY. According to CBS News and ABC7, which cite neighbors and friends of the family, the two victims were Jenkins' younger sisters.
Community not believed to be in 'further danger'
In a statement on Facebook, Streamwood Police Chief Shawn Taylor said: "Our deepest sympathies are with the families of these young victims. We are working hard to bring a swift resolution to this case so the families can grieve."
Taylor added that the department does not believe the community is in "further danger."
"This remains a tragic, isolated incident," Taylor said. "However, we believe in erring on the side of caution. If you see the suspect, please avoid him, and call 911 immediately.'

The Meridian Township Police Department said the shooting occurred on Friday, May 30, at the Meridian Mall in Okemos, around 7 miles from Lansing. Officers responded to the area after receiving reports of gunfire in the parking lot near Dick's Sporting Goods. Those involved fled the area before the police arrived, according to the department. Two people suffered gunshot wounds as a result of the incident, the department said. Officers later identified and interviewed the involved individuals at a local hospital. Following the interviews, officers took the 19-year-old woman from Lansing into custody, police said. Police did not share what possible charges the unidentified woman could face. The conditions of the two injured individuals are unclear. USA TODAY contacted Meridian Township police on May 31 but has not received a response. Meridian Township police searching for vehicles involved in shooting Now the police are asking for the public's assistance in finding the vehicles believed to be involved in the shooting, including a burgundy sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300 or Toyota Camry with dark-tinted windows and dark colored rims, and a black sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu with tinted windows. Once police secured the area, they said, "There is no threat to the public at this time." The mall has also since reopened for business, according to the department. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding this incident can call the Meridian Township Police Department at 517-853-4800. Two of the escaped New Orleans inmates who were caught recently in a high-speed chase in Texas have been extradited back to Louisiana, where officials said they will be held at a secure facility. The 10 inmates escaped on May 16 when officials said they ripped away a toilet and sink unit in a cell and went through a hole in the wall. Two are still on the run as authorities have increased rewards for information leading to their capture to $50,000 each. Jermaine Donald, 42, and Leo Tate, 31, were extradited back to Louisiana on May 30 after they were arrested in Huntsville, Texas, about 375 miles from New Orleans, the Louisiana State Police said. Authorities in Huntsville said they led law enforcement on a chase through the city before they were apprehended. Both will face charges for the jail escape, and Donald was also charged with resisting an officer. The escapees still at large are Antoine Massey, 32, and Derrick Groves, 27. For more than two weeks, they have evaded a massive manhunt and attempts at foiling any assistance they could get from the public, with authorities arresting and charging over a dozen people who allegedly helped inmates break out or stay on the run. Who are the inmates still on the run? The inmates escaped in the early morning hours of May 16, and three were recaptured by the end of the day. A week later, two more were nabbed. Within two weeks, authorities had caught all but two, Groves and Massey. Groves was convicted of two charges of second-degree murder and two charges of attempted second-degree murder in October in connection with a shooting during Mardi Gras in 2018, according to a statement from the district attorney's office. Groves has been awaiting sentencing on a manslaughter charge since October, according to a news release from the governor's office. He also faces a charge of battery against a correctional facility employee, the Associated Press reported, citing court records.
