Baby shower descends into chaos after game "Would Mummy Rather" sparks fury

Sheriff Court heard.
The bad feeling between the families escalated to violence outside the hall in Lochore. The mother and sister of the mum-to-be landed themselves in the dock for assaults on members of the other family.

to-be, dislodging her nasogastric feeding tube. During the trial, Sarah Wilson, 45, from Kirkcaldy, submitted a guilty plea to one of the charges she faced.
She admitted that on 18 th May last year at Lochore Miners' Welfare Institute, she assaulted Pamela Ritchie by seizing her by the hair and repeatedly punching her on the body.
Chardonnay Wilson, of Kirkcaldy, was found guilty of a charge that she assaulted Yvonne Ritchie by attempting to seize her essential feeding tube.
The charge had also alleged that Wilson repeatedly punched her on the body but this was deleted by the sheriff. Chardonnay Wilson told the court the event had started at 1pm and was a baby shower for her sister Chantelle, ahead of the birth of her daughter, which occurred a fortnight later.
She said the two families were sitting at different tables and 'at first it was fine'. However, bad feeling began to escalate after a game called 'Would Mummy Rather'. She explained that there was a question, 'would mummy rather put a bottle on for the baby or open a bottle of wine'.
She said someone from the dad -to-be's family shouted out that the new mum would open a bottle of wine. 'Chantelle got upset and everything started to escalate from there,' she said.
She described how her mum Sarah and the other mother Pamela Ritchie were 'arguing back and forward'. 'My mum told her they could speak any other day but not to spoil the occasion,' she added.

The court was told there was more arguing during a game of 'Baby Bingo' and allegations about sexual comments being heard.
There were then claims about an abusive comment 'F****** fools', aimed at the Wilsons, being written on a paper plate. Wilson said she had also written a good wishes message in the baby book and someone had ripped it out.
Gino Gambale, solicitor for Chardonnay Wilson, asked for his client to be given an absolute discharge, as a conviction would end her
career as a carer.
He said Wilson had worked as a carer for the elderly and vulnerable for the past three years, starting at the age of 18. The solicitor went on, 'This was the baby shower for her sister and as we've heard tensions heightened throughout the day.
'The families were not getting on and this has spilled outside. This was a serious assault but something that happened very
quickly.' Sheriff Susan Duff said it would 'not be proportionate' to impose a sentence which would end a young person's career in this case.
Therefore, she agreed to the defence request for an absolute discharge which means the offence will not go on Wilson's record.
Sarah Wilson will be sentenced on 4 th June after the sheriff called for reports.

The shattered family of Cole Cooper say their "worst fears have become reality" after sharing the devastating news that a body found in the search for the missing teenager has been confirmed as the 19-year-old. Cole's loved ones were made aware of the discovery in a wooded area near Kilsyth Road in Banknock, Falkirk, at around 4.15pm on Friday, after a desperate five-week search. Police said at the time that formal identification was yet to take place but his family spoke for the first time on Sunday to confirm Cole had been found. His devastated auntie Aimee Tennie, speaking on behalf of Cole's family, posted an emotional tribute on social media, writing: 'With shattered hearts, we share the devastating news that our beloved Cole, who was missing, has been found—but not in the way we hoped or prayed for. "Our worst fears have become reality, and we are now living a nightmare we can't wake up from.' Aimee said the family never gave up hope during the search and have vowed to continue seeking justice and answers. She wrote: "Cole. Our boy. We fought for you for almost five weeks. Why? How? So many questions… and still, no answers. "We never gave up, and we will never give up—not until we have the answers. The fight for truth, for justice, and for Cole is not over.' Aimee continued: 'The world didn't get to know the light you carried, but we did—and we will carry it with us, always.' Cole, from Banknock, was last seen on May 7 on the A803 near Cumbernauld Road in Longcroft, when he asked a school friend for a lift, which he was not given. Prior to that, he was captured on alarming ring doorbell footage on the morning of Sunday, May 4, at around 6am in the Longcroft area. He was filmed trying to access his father's house unsuccessfully. He was reported missing on Friday, May 9. More than 400 people were spoken to during door-to-door inquiries, while over 2,000 hours of CCTV were reviewed. Police previously treated the case as a missing person investigation rather than a criminal inquiry. They still haven't released a formal statement confirming the body found on Friday is Cole. A vigil is being planned in Cole's honour, with the family saying they want to tell him about the outpouring of love he inspired. Aimee said: 'To the incredible community and beyond, thank you. Christian Bruckner, 48, is due to be freed from a German jail in September after completing his sentence for the rape of a 72-year-old US woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2005. Hazel Behan, 41, from Ireland, who has waived her right to anonymity, said she fears the German man will 'hunt her down'. Brueckner was acquitted by a German court in relation to the charge of violent rape of Ms Behan at her apartment in Praia da Rocha in Portugal's Algarve. She told The Sun: 'His sentence may be ending but mine never did. I have lived with fear every day for 21 years. 'Fear that I'll see him. Fear that he'll find out where I live and hunt me down. I also have fear that he'll do to someone else what he did to me. 'I've called him out in a public forum and I have genuine concern he could confront me. 'I wouldn't put anything past a person like him. 'If he is released, I will worry for every woman and child who, like me, believes the justice system is protecting them. 'A leopard doesn't change his spots.' Later this year Ms Behan expects to discover the outcome of her High Court appeal in Germany against his acquittal for raping her, another woman and a girl in Portugal in 2004. Ms Behan has accused the Portuguese authorities of alleged 'inaction' in identifying and prosecuting Brueckner. In April, she lodged an application to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against the Portuguese authorities over their handling of her attack. More funding to tackle youth violence in Scotland announced amid Record campaign
The Record launched the Our Kids ... Our Future campaign in February 2023 after we highlighted a worrying trend of violence among teens. More funding has been announced to tackle youth violence in Scotland after a Daily Record campaign to combat the issue. The Scottish Government confirmed it would be investing an additional £82,000 in the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVRU) this year. The move comes amid the Record's applauded youth violence campaign, Our Kids ... Our Future, which was launched two years ago after we highlighted a worrying trend of violence among teens. As part of the campaign, we have repeatedly called on the Scottish Government to invest in youth clubs and in other ways to help young people as the epidemic unfortunately shows no signs of stopping in Scotland. The cash injection comes as part of a Scottish Government package to tackle violence. It takes funding for the year to £1.217 million - an increase of 7%. Medics Against Violence have also received increased funding of up to £345,000 to deliver a range of activities. A further £156,000 has also been awarded to the Mentors in Violence Prevention programme. The Record launched Our Kids ... Our Future in February 2023 after we reported the shocking assault of autistic schoolgirl Abbie Jarvis at a skatepark in Glasgow on October 4, 2022. Abbie, then 12, was lured to the facility in the city's Drumchapel and beaten unconscious in an attack which left her in hospital for two days. She has since been diagnosed with PTSD. Abbie's attack prompted many other parents of child victims to speak out about scenes of youth violence in Scotland, including Vicky Donald, whose 15-year-old daughter was battered on her way home from school in Ladybank in Fife just weeks later. Since its launch, the Record has reported on three blade tragedies including the untimely deaths of 16-year-old Kory McCrimmon on May 31, 2024, Amen Teklay, 15, on March 5 this year and Kayden Moy, 16, on May 17 just last month. Three teenage boys aged 14, 15, and 16 have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Amen, an Eritrean refugee, in Glasgow's Maryhill. In recent weeks, three teenage boys – a pair aged 17 and a 14-year-old – have appeared in court charged with the murder of Kayden, who was allegedly attacked on Irvine Beach in North Ayrshire, and died in hospital. And just last month, a 14-year-old boy was sentenced to five years detention after admitting culpable homicide following the death of Kory at Glasgow's Greenfield Park last year. But more needs to be done to change the attitudes and behaviours of some who are at risk of violence, or those young people who are considering carrying a weapon. There is no place for violence in Scotland and anyone who commits a crime, will face the consequences. 'Our work remains focused on ensuring our prevention and punishment measures respond to the changing behaviours of young people. This includes ensuring good school and community engagement with young people, appropriate police powers and tackling the root causes of violence."
