15 Celebrity Parents Whose Kids Went to Ivy League Schools

15 Celebrity Parents Whose Kids Went to Ivy League Schools

Yahoo4 hours ago

Having celebrity parents comes with tons of perks — nepotism is alive and well in 2025 — but being a nepo baby doesn't automatically grant you access to the nation's top universities. For that, you have to have the grades. You don't see too many celebrity kids going the Ivy League route unless they are really dedicated, with the brains and the grades to match.
Take Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's daughter Violet for example. In her first year at Yale University, she already had a paper published in the Global Health Review about the California wildfires that affected her family. And Jodie Foster's son Kit, who graduated from Princeton University in 2024 with a degree in chemistry.
Other celebrity kids want to follow in their parents' entertainment footsteps — just with a college degree under their belt first. This includes Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew Broderick's son James Wilkie, who graduated from Brown University in May 2025 and wants to be an actor.
Sure, their parent's name might help them get in the door, but once there, these celebrity students have to work just as hard as everyone else to graduate. Whether their kids attend an Ivy for a short amount of time or they graduate from one of these prestigious universities, these celebrity parents couldn't be prouder.

Gwyneth Paltrow and ex Chris Martin's son Moses Martin, born in 2006, is a student at Brown University.
Prior to Moses going to college in Fall 2024, Paltrow told The Sunday Times how she felt about being an empty nester. (Her daughter Apple, born in 2004, attends Vanderbilt University.) 'On the one hand, incredible sadness. A deep sense of impending grief. On the other hand, this is exactly what should be happening,' she said. 'Your kids are supposed to be, you know, young adults who can achieve and cope and make connections and be resilient. That's exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house.'
On Moses' 19th birthday in April 2025, Paltrow shared photos of Moses on a FaceTime call with her. He laughs and plays an electric blue guitar from Brown while the duo catch up. 'Happy birthday Moses,' she captioned the photos.
'Honestly, you are a dream come true,' she continued. 'You are deeply kind and brilliant. You have an incredible intellect and you are so gifted, so talented. I listen to your music on repeat and miss you so much at college. And today more than ever. I love you my boy. ❤️mama'

News Sitdown with Bruce Bozzi about encouraging her son and her twin daughters Tabitha and Marion, born in 2009, to be happy and fulfilled.
'I really want my children to be educated in the ways that are fulfilling to them,' Parker said. 'I don't think that there is one way to be an educated person or to be equipped to be an adult and try to fashion a life for yourself after what would be considered 'finishing college'—let's say 22 years old.'
'You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying and to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves—emotionally, financially,' she continued, 'and that they can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people. And so we talk about work like that.'
In the past, James has said he wants to be an actor, so it'll be exciting to see what he does next!
George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth's eldest daughter Elliott Stephanopoulos, born in 2002, graduated from Brown University in May 2025. We love you and are so proud of you, E!'
Wentworth shared pictures of the big day as well, writing, 'She did it! Happy graduation to an incredible human being who has her father's brain and my legs. And if it was the other way around- she'd be screwed. Proud parents! All our children deserve an education!'
Their younger daughter Harper, born in 2005, is studying at Vanderbilt University.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones just became parents of a Brown University graduate for the second time as their daughter Carys Douglas, born in 2003, graduated in May 2025. Their son Dylan, born in 2000, graduated from Brown in 2022.
Zeta-Jones shared a picture of her and Douglas kissing their daughter on the cheek to mark her graduation, writing, 'The night before graduation!!!! We are both such proud parents right now!! It's only just begun!! @carys.douglas 👩‍🎓🎓👩‍🎓'
Douglas shared a video for his daughter's graduation, saying in the caption, 'Congratulations Carys and the entire 2025 graduation class as you all begin your next chapter! We love you @carys.douglas ❤️ 🎓 👏'

Well done! 👏 @dylan__douglas.'
Jennifer Garner and ex-husband Ben Affleck's eldest daughter Violet completed her first year at Yale University in May 2025.
During her first year, she wrote an essay for her university's Global Health Review titled, A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles. According to Hola!, she wrote how she wasn't surprised that fires burned near her California home. 'As a lifelong Angeleno and climate-literate member of Generation Z, my question had not been whether the Palisades would burn but when,' she wrote in part.

In Sept. 2017, Obama opened up about the heart-wrenching experience of dropping off his daughter at college, per E! News.
'For those of us who have daughters, it just happens fast,' the 44th president said. 'I dropped off Malia at college, and I was saying to Joe and Jill [Biden] that it was a little bit like open-heart surgery.'
He added, 'I was proud that I did not cry in front of her, but on the way back, the secret service was looking straight ahead pretending they weren't hearing me as I sniffled and blew my nose. It was rough.'

Streamers Cash Nasty And Tylil Brought To Tears After Meeting LeBron James Thanks To Kai Cenat

Streamers Cash Nasty And Tylil Brought To Tears After Meeting LeBron James Thanks To Kai Cenat originally appeared on Fadeaway World. In one of the most wholesome moments the streaming world has seen in 2025, streamers CashNasty and Tylil were brought to tears after meeting their childhood idol, LeBron James, a dream made possible by none other than Kai Cenat. The emotional meeting took place just before Fanatics Fest 2025, where LeBron was scheduled to appear alongside other sports icons like Tom Brady, Victor Wembanyama, and Maverick Carter. The NBA legend was also slated to make a surprise appearance on Kai Cenat's Twitch stream, an announcement that had already sent fans into a frenzy. But what followed before the cameras even rolled would end up being one of the most memorable moments of the event. Kai Cenat, known for hosting massive names on his stream from Kevin Hart to John Cena was already mingling behind the scenes when he, CashNasty, and Tylil spotted LeBron James from a distance. Standing beside him was his mother, Gloria James, and longtime agent Rich Paul, who had previously appeared on Kai's stream. That's when Kai and his fellow streamers decided to shoot their shot. Kai Cenat talked to Rich Paul and asked if they could meet LeBron personally. Without hesitation, Rich gave them the green light and led them straight to the King himself. First, Kai was introduced, and soon after, he brought forward his visibly starstruck friends, CashNasty and Tylil, to meet LeBron. For the two streamers, who have been lifelong fans of James, the moment was surreal. They were ecstatic, shaking hands, hugging, and dapping up the four-time NBA champion. They chatted with him, laughed, and even managed to get autographs something both of them said they would treasure forever. After the emotional high of the encounter, the trio made their way backstage. That's when it hit. Both Cash and Tylil were overwhelmed with emotion, breaking down into tears. For two fans who had grown up watching LeBron dominate the league and change the game, finally meeting him in person and having a genuine interaction was a full-circle moment. And they had Kai Cenat to thank. The moment quickly began circulating across social media, with fans praising Kai for not only making the dream happen but also for handling it with sincerity and class. It showed another side to the streaming world, one of real, raw emotion and shared joy. With over 18 million Twitch followers and counting, Kai Cenat continues to redefine the possibilities of content creation. And by helping two of his fellow streamers meet their hero, he reminded the world what fanhood and friendship are all story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jun 21, 2025, where it first appeared.

Allison Holker Was an ‘Almond Mom' to Daughter Weslie, 17, Throughout Her Childhood: ‘Extreme'

Allison Holker's eldest daughter, Weslie, is getting real about the 'strict' lessons her mom used to impose when it came to eating. 'My entire growing up — I say this to her all the time now — [but] she was so almond mom,' Weslie, 17, said on the Sunday, June 22, episode of their 'Between Us' podcast. 'She was like, 'You have to eat greens [and have] chicken every night.'' While Holker, 37, was unsure about the origins of the slang term 'almond mom,' she does concur that she acted that way when it came to food. 'I definitely was one with Weslie. I was very strict,' Holker said. 'I was cooking all of the time, and her lunches for school were all the organic versions of everything. Like, there were no processed snacks. Everything was, like, different types of nuts [and] I had a lot of dried fruit options.' Allison Holker Admits She and Daughter Weslie, 16, Have Dealt With 'Hard Times': 'We've Beefed' For the uninitiated, an 'almond mom' is defined as a parent who often imposes unhealthy eating habits and body image expectations onto their children. Holker, for her part, primarily raised Weslie as a single mother. (The Dancing With the Stars alum also shared son Maddox, 9, and daughter Zaia, 5, with late husband Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, who died in 2022.) 'I love a good chip [and] she would not let me eat it,' Weslie recalled on Sunday's episode. 'Now, she doesn't care! You're definitely a lot more [laid back now.]' Holker has since recalibrated her parenting when it comes to food and eating since having Maddox and Zaia. 'With Weslie, I was, like, 'OK, we're going to do this. I'm going to be a good mom.' At that moment, I thought that being a good mom meant that everything was healthy,' Holker said. 'I was researching everything that was in our kitchen, and I was really diligent about it. I think in a lot of ways it helped me, though I was a little extreme in it.' Susan Sarandon's Daughter Says She Was a 'True Almond Mom': Cheerios Were 'Junk Food' She added, 'I don't know if it was for the right reasons, but I did want to have a healthy lifestyle. I was like, 'I'm gonna be the best mom if I do this.' It was a really good choice for me because it educated me more, but then I feel everything comes with balance.' To allow for better balance in her kids' diet, Holker lets them have fast food or other snacks in moderation. 'There's a lot of healthy options in our home, but I also allow them to be children,' Holker said. 'I found a little more joy in it, too. I'm just teaching now what I'm trying to do. With Weslie, I was a little strict and now with Maddox and Zaia, I want to be a little more well-balanced.' Dennish later traded the card to Brady for $250,000 cash, plus a signed Brady card and jersey. The Fanatics Games featured eight skill-based challenges with a total of 100 points available for each event. The two lowest-scoring events for each participant were automatically dropped to make 600 points the maximum score possible. Six of the top-10 scorers were fans. James Harden and Eli Manning joined Brady and Gaethje as professional athletes in the top 10. "There is a competitive spirit that I have … I had to at least show up and not embarrass myself,' Brady said during Fanatics Fest's closing ceremony.
