Tonight, Saturday, April 5, former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu looks to end a two fight losing skid when he faces Joey Spencer in the main event of a PBC card. In the co-main event of the fight card, Brandon Grach and Liam Talivaa face off in a heavyweight rematch. The 30-year-old Tim Tszyu started his pro boxing career with a record of 24-0 and 17 knockouts. Since March 2024, Tszyu is 0-2, losing his WBO light middleweight title to Sebastian Fundora by split decision, and most recently, in October 2024, falling to Bakhram Murtazaliev in an IBF title fight by third-round knockout.
Tszyu is currently the No. 10 ranked junior middleweight according to the IBF. ESPN has him ranked at No. 7.
Joey Spencer (19-1 with 11 knockouts) is 25. Spencer is coming off a majority decision win over Miguel Angel Hernandez in December 2024.
Tszyu opened as a -450 favorite over Spener, who was a +300 betting ubnderdog. Those odds have shifted. Today, Tszyu is listed at -1100 and Spencer at +500.

"It's sink or swim," said Tszyu ahead of his fight with Spencer. 'This is my redemption tour. I'm coming back stronger, hungrier, and ready to prove a point. I'm here to make a statement. If I have to walk through fire to get back on top, so be it. This is what I live for.'

"I feel great. It's been a great time in Australia and a great finish to camp," said Spencer. "I think Tim is going to come out hard. This is an important fight for both of us. This is everything for both of us.
"For me, I want to go to the next level, so I have to get this win. You only get so many opportunities in boxing, so when you're in the position that Tim is in, you've got to make sure you get back in that winners' track. It's important for both of us and it's going to bring the best out of both of us."

'I'm a big Tim Tszyu fan. I think he's a great fighter. Sometimes, you can believe your own hype a little bit as a fighter, and I think they felt that Tim was unbeatable,' promoter Eddie Hearn told Jai McAllister earlier this year. 'I really admire that they took that fight, and they should have taken that fight (Bakhram) because it's for a world championship. But no one really wants to fight that guy because he's a serious dude with no value. So, if you get beat by him, you're kind of like, but I like the fact that they did it, and I like the fact that he's a real fighter.
'Sometimes, you can get carried away. There's a massive difference between fighting in Australia and the Australian market and then going out on the world stage and taking on elite opposition. You saw that against Fundora, and he (Tszyu) was very unlucky in that fight with the injury and everything,' said Hearn.
'I think the unknown about Tim Tszyu is, is he really elite level,' added Hearn. 'He's a world-class fighter; there's no doubt about it. But is he really at that level? Maybe. I think the jury is out. There's no shame in that. Sometimes, you step up to that level, and you're not good enough.'
