Salman Khan Was ANGRY About Kaanta Laga Song: 'Yeh Jo Sexy Kaam Hai, Kam Kiya Karo'

Filmmakers who directed the controversial music video Kaanta Laga, faced criticism from Salman Khan.
Filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the duo behind Sanam Teri Kasam, recently spilled some old tea about their hit music video Kaanta Laga. Back when it released, the video, a 90s remix – starring Shefali Jariwala as a bold party girl in a thong, watching adult content – caused quite a stir.
While Radhika and Vinay said they didn't mean to offend anyone, the video didn't sit well with the censor board, and they got a warning. What's more, even Salman Khan wasn't impressed and reportedly scolded them for it. Funny enough, they later worked with him in Lucky: No Time for Love and even directed songs for some of his films.
Vinay recalled, 'A big actor called us to his house, and he told us, 'Main tumhe samjha raha hoon Radhika Vinay, yeh jo sexy kaam hai kam kiya karo, acha nahi hota (I'm trying to make you understand, don't do such sexy songs, it doesn't look good)'. He just said, 'You've got nice, pure minds'." When asked who it is, they named Salman Khan.
The filmmaker duo said they just wanted to try something new creatively. Before doing remix videos, they were known for emotional songs. 'We were doing cute and innocent songs with Falguni Pathak. We were doing songs with Jagjit Singh and Pankaj Udhas. As creative people, we wanted to evolve."
This one time, they visited Salman Khan at his house and saw him working out while listening to a Jhankaar Beats remix of a Kishore Kumar song. That moment gave them the idea to explore remixes.
They continued, 'One day, we went to Salman Khan's house. He was exercising while listening to a Jhankaar Beats remix of a Kishor Kumar song. An idea sparked, and that's what began the remix trend in India. We made 'Kaliyon Ka Chaman', 'Kaanta Laga', 'Chadti Jawani'… The sound organically reminds you of a nightclub, to a sensual visualisation."
