Saipan film trailer splits opinion as Irish football fans voice concern about Roy Keane portrayal
A 76-second teaser trailer for the upcoming Saipan film has been released - and met with a mixed reaction from Irish football fans.
Éanna Hardwicke has been cast as Roy Keane while Steve Coogan will play Mick McCarthy.

The trailer showcases the remote island in the Pacific Ocean that went down in Irish football infamy as a blazing row between the two resulted in Ireland's captain playing no part in the 2002 World Cup.
We hear both actors in character and naturally enough, their voices are raised in virtually every snippet.
There's also atmospheric news bulletins read out in order to hammer home how this was a story that dominated front pages as well as back across the entire Irish media landscape.
76 seconds is never going to be enough to make a worthwhille judgement from any film but the prevailing point of debate touched upon Hardwicke's appearance.
Several fans voiced their concern that no matter how adept of an actor he is, he simply doesn't bear enough of a resemblance to Keane to fully inhabit the role.
Paul commented: "As expected, Coogan nails McCarthy but they could have at least attempted to cast an actor with some kind of resemblance to Keane."
Similarly, Michael added: "That bloke looks nothing like Roy Keane, he looks more like Vinny Jones. I mean Roy Keane is alive should have just got the man himself."
Additionally, Steven expressed his anger by quoting Keane's most famous catchphrase.
He quipped: "It doesn't look like they can do their job i.e. Be believable as Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy!!"
However, not everyone was immediately casting a pessimistic eye based off what they saw from the cast and the wider film-making style on show.

IFB Media posted: "Excited to see this! The Saipan incident is/was one of the most divisive stories in modern memory and it's not even close.
"What could've been with Roy will never be known but it's sad when you consider we haven't returned to the World Cup since the 2002 tournament. 2026?"
Philip also sounded keen on it as he drew a parallel between the World Cup flashpoint and an equally significant historic event.
He tweeted: "Can't wait for this - the trailer is giving Cuba Missile Crisis vibes."

The production behind the project - Wild Atlantic Pictures - was involved with the likes of the award-winning Kneecap movie as well Cocaine Bear.
It has yet to be given a precise release date but will be in cinemas some time this summer.

The worst it's got in camp has been locking myself out of hotel rooms and getting halfway to the lobby. Hopefully that doesn't happen on this trip. I might just wear a few more layers in bed because I've been caught out a couple of times!' Stuart and Finn Russell belatedly joined up with the Lions after helping their club seal an historic Treble by winning the Premiership title for the first time in 29 years. The subsequent banter has been incessant. 'I've been getting stick for that ever since,' he said. 'It's been, 'One viral clip and you've been picked for the Lions'! I had to rein it back a bit, but it's in the locker in case I need it!' As ever, in his role, the fundamental task for Stuart will be to provide a powerful set-piece platform with his set-piece work. After enduring scrum ordeals during England's Tests in New Zealand last summer, the 28-year-old enjoyed a transformational season of personal progress, to emerge as a prime contender for the Lions' starting tighthead place in the series against Australia. He will be involved in the first tour fixture Down Under against Western Force here on Saturday and Stuart is already alert to the threat the Wallabies will pose up front in a few weeks' time. 'I've seen their squad and (Will) Skelton is back in,' he said. 'With him at tighthead lock, that is a scary prospect for any opposing front row. 'Their props are all great players. Tupou (AKA 'Tongan Thor') is a big old goose and has a good bit of footwork on him. When he's firing, he's the world's best. They have a strong scrum, so it will be a good ding-dong.' Having become a Lions devotee while watching the 2013 tour of Australia on a big projector screen at school — 'I remember George North picking up Folau and everything like that' — Stuart is looking forward to the unique touring experience. He will be well supported. His girlfriend, Nancy, will be spending plenty of time in Australia after throwing herself into the Bath party. Speaking before departure from Dublin, Stuart said: 'She's coming out for a good stint. Actually, she just rocked up here today. So, they're going to take it on a big scale to Australia. It'll be cool.' For Stuart himself and the Lions squad, all the journeys between cities will be by air. On the pitch, he has been flying all season — now he has a chance to soar to career heights over the coming weeks.

U2 veteran The Edge has described a 'monumental day' after becoming an Irish citizen. David Howell Evans, 63, was born in Essex in England to Welsh parents, but his family moved to Ireland when he was just a one-year-old.
