Cristiano Ronaldo to continue with Al-Nassr next season
Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will continue playing for Al-Nassr next season, putting an end to speculation about his future.
The 40-year-old recently celebrated his third international title as Portugal defeated Spain to win the UEFA Nations League. Ronaldo scored his 138th international goal in the second half, helping take the final into a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw. Though he had been substituted by then, the veteran forward watched from the sidelines as Portugal converted all five spot-kicks to lift the trophy.
Following the victory, Ronaldo made it clear he plans to stay with the Saudi Pro League club. 'My future? Basically nothing is gonna change,' he said. When asked directly if he would remain at Al-Nassr, Ronaldo responded: 'Yes.'
The Nations League title adds to Ronaldo's growing collection of international honours, joining his Euro 2016 and 2019 Nations League medals. The emotional win left the five-time Champions League winner in tears.
Despite being linked with several teams set to compete in the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup starting June 14 in the United States, Ronaldo confirmed last week he will not be part of the tournament.
He revealed receiving multiple offers from clubs in the U.S., while Al-Nassr's sporting director Fernando Hierro recently acknowledged they were in talks with Ronaldo about a contract extension — though other teams were also vying for his signature.
Since joining Al-Nassr from Manchester United in December 2022, Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances.

AS Roma manager Claudio Ranieri rejects Italy head coach job for Seire A stay
AS Roma's interim manager, Claudio Ranieri, has decided to reject an offer to take charge of the Italian national team, opting instead to continue his association with the Serie A club in an advisory role. The 73-year-old, who guided Roma through the latter part of the 2023-24 season, was the top candidate to replace Luciano Spalletti after the latter's dismissal but has chosen to remain loyal to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) had identified Ranieri as the ideal successor to Spalletti, who was sacked following Italy's disappointing performances, including a recent loss to Norway. The FIGC even proposed a unique dual role, allowing Ranieri to manage the national team while staying at Roma, along with the prospect of becoming Italy's technical director in the future. However, after discussions with Roma owner Dan Friedkin, Ranieri declined the offer, prioritizing his commitment to the club.'I thank President Gravina for the opportunity, a great honour, but I reflected and decided to remain at Roma's disposal in my new role in a total way. The Friedkins have given me their full support and backing for any decision I have made regarding the national team, but the decision is mine alone," Ranieri told ANSAadvertisement With Ranieri out of contention, the FIGC has now shifted focus to former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli as their next preferred tenure as Italy boss came to an abrupt end after just nine months in charge. Despite a promising 3-1 victory over France in the Nations League, inconsistent results—including a quarterfinal collapse against Germany—sealed his fate. The FIGC, desperate to avoid missing a third consecutive World Cup, acted swiftly to remove who previously managed Roma in 2009-11, returned as an interim coach this season and has now transitioned into an advisory position. His decision to stay highlights his strong connection with the club, leaving the FIGC to explore other options ahead of crucial Euro 2028 qualifiers.

Arsenal to play all WSL home games at Emirates Stadium
Arsenal will play all 11 of next season's Women's Super League home matches at Emirates Stadium, and the club will offer season tickets for the first time, it said on Tuesday. The side, which has recorded some of the largest crowds in women's football, made the Emirates its main stadium last season, averaging 34,110 fans in the nine WSL games it played there. 'For us, this is just the beginning, and bringing every WSL match to the Emirates is another step for more supporters to be part of this special journey,' Arsenal coach Renee Slegers said. READ: Argentina has learnt to play without Messi: Scaloni Arsenal, which defeated Barcelona 1-0 last month to win its first Champions League title in 18 years, still plans to play at Meadow Park, Borehamwood in the Women's Champions League league phase, as well as FA Cup and League Cup games. If it qualifies for the Champions League knockout stages, those matches will take place at the 60,704-capacity Emirates. Arsenal recorded a 20 per cent increase in ticket sales for the 2024-25 season over the previous year, selling more than 415,000 tickets. Related Topics Arsenal / WSL

Brazil one win away from securing FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification
Ancelotti's changes to shore up the defense at Ecuador worked. Defender Alexsandro had an impressive game on debut and veteran midfielder Casemiro helped block the hosts. More changes are expected on Tuesday, the day Ancelotti turns 66. Striker Richarlison lost his place in the starting lineup to Matheus Cunha during training, and teenager Estvo is expected to make way on the left wing for Raphinha, who was suspended last week. Ancelotti is also expected to replace midfielder Gerson with winger Gabriel Martinelli. We had the necessary time on those days to prepare both matches, a little less against Ecuador. The team is fresh, we will have every tool to do well tomorrow, Ancelotti said Monday. Raphinha gives us very important mobility. That could be key to unblock tomorrow's match. Casemiro enjoyed success with Ancelotti at Real Madrid, but has said his return to the national team after more than a year's absence is due to his performances at Manchester United. I'm glad to be back and back playing well, I want to stress that," Casemiro said. I am not here because I know the coach, but because I deserve it. This was undoubtedly one of the most important years of my career. Paraguay will be a tough challenge for Brazil. Since coach Gustavo Alfaro took over, the Paraguayans have been unbeaten for nine matches. Alfaro has already equaled Paraguay's record for qualifying points set by coach Paulo Csar Carpegiani in the campaign for the 1998 World Cup in France. More South American teams could qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Second-place Ecuador can do it by winning in Peru on Tuesday. Fourth-place Brazil or third-place Paraguay could secure a spot at next year's global tournament with a win in Sao Paulo as long as Venezuela loses at Uruguay. If Venezuela draws, either team could also qualify with a win if defending champion Argentina, which has already qualified, beats Colombia. The most anticipated match of the round is in Sao Paulo, where Carlo Ancelotti will make his home debut as Brazil coach. Brazil, which had a 0-0 draw with Ecuador last week, is two points behind Paraguay in the standings. Lionel Messi's Argentina takes on Colombia in Buenos Aires in a match where coach Lionel Scaloni will continue adding depth to his squad. South America's last two qualifying game days are in September. The top six teams earn direct spots for the World Cup next year in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The seventh-place team goes into an international playoff. Eyes on Venezuela As the only South American team that has never made it to the World Cup, Venezuela will be under extra pressure at Centenario Stadium against fifth-place Uruguay. A win for Venezuela and coach Fernando Batista will almost lock up seventh place and boost its chances of fighting for a direct spot. A Venezuela defeat could give Bolivia a chance to bid for the international playoff position. We have three finals in which we can't overlook, we can't fail. We are ready for that," Batista said. We are focused on getting the most possible points. Uruguay has endured a shaky patch with no wins in its last four qualifiers. A home victory against Venezuela is key for the team to regain confidence. Head coach Marcelo Bielsa, who has been clashing with Uruguay players since the Copa America last year, took some blame for the poor performance in the 2-0 loss at Paraguay. I truly feel responsible for the situation of the team because the problem is the lack of creation of scoring opportunities, and my position before this problem is to propose solutions, Bielsa said. I have players who are special in their clubs, but can't do it in the squad I have ... I have no option (but) to recognize my lack of efficiency." Uruguay remains without key midfielder Federico Valverde, who is injured, and striker Darwin Nez, who is suspended.
