Leeds man jailed for 24 years for child sex offences
A man has been jailed for more than 20 years for what police have described as "appalling" sexual offences against a girl which took place over a decade ago.Following a trial at Leeds Crown Court in October, Khalid Hussain, 56, was found guilty of 10 sexual offences, including raping a young girl five times between 2010 and 2014.Hussain, of York Road, Leeds, was sentenced at the same court on Monday to 24 years imprisonment.Det Con Bernadette Cooper, from West Yorkshire Police, praised the victim, saying she had "shown incredible bravery in coming forward and making the report to police".
The victim had first reported Hussain to officers in March 2020, which sparked an investigation and his subsequent arrest, Det Con Cooper said."It has been an incredibly long and challenging time for her," she said."She has not wavered in her support for the investigation to allow us to investigate this matter objectively and robustly."Hussain's offences have, quite simply, been appalling and we welcome his sentencing."
