Sunjay Kapur's last rites to be performed in New Delhi, father-in-law confirms; delay likely due to his US citizenship
A day after Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away in London, arrangements are being made for his mortal remains to be transported to India for his last rites. Sunjay was an American citizen, which is reportedly creating complications for his family. By law, if a US citizen dies in a foreign country, the American consulate of the country handles the process and prepares a report.
He married his second wife, Bollywood superstar Karisma Kapoor, in 2003, and had two children with her, Samiara and Kiaan. The couple got divorced in 2016, and Karisma was awarded the custody of the children. A year later, Sunjay married actor and model Priya Sachdev, with whom he also shared two children, one from her previous marriage, daughter Safira, and a son they had together, Azarias. Sunjay's father-in-law, Ashok Sachdev, told NDTV, 'The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites.' He also confirmed that the location for the funeral will be New Delhi.

Sunjay was the chairman of Sona Comcast, a company he took control of after his father Surinder Kapur passed away in 2015. He was also a passionate Polo player who had even played with Prince William. On June 12 during a match, the businessman accidentally swallowed a bee and suffered a cardiac arrest. He collapsed on the spot, and even after several attempts to revive him, he passed away. He was 53 at the time of passing.
Sunjay had visitation rights with Samaira and Kiaan, and had even set up bonds for them worth Rs 14 crore. As time passed, Karisma and Sunjay found common ground and stayed on amicable terms with each other. The entire family, including Priya and her two children, attended Samiara's 18th birthday.

The 9 day total of the movie now stands at Rs 128.90 crore. By the end of the 2nd Sunday, the movie will be sitting at Rs 138 crore. It will aim to hit Rs 150 crore by the end of the 2nd week, after which it will find new competition in Sitaare Zameen Par. Housefull 5 had a good opening weekend but the weekday drops were higher than they should have been. Due to weak hold over the weekdays, the 2nd Friday number dropped to Rs 5.75 crore when it should have ideally been atleast Rs 7 crore if not more. The percentage of growth on Saturday is reasonable.
