The royal family avoided a close encounter with an intruder.
On June 1, an intruder attempted to break into the grounds of Windsor Castle, where Prince William and Kate Middleton live with their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 6, Thames Valley Police confirmed to NBC News.
'At just after 1 p.m. on Sunday a man has entered restricted grounds at Windsor Castle,' the authorities told People in a statement. 'He was quickly challenged by Met police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle.'
The name of the intruder was not revealed, but police confirmed he is a man in his thirties. The individual was arrested on suspicion of trespass on a secure site and possession of class A drugs.

"He has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing by Thames Valley Police." the authorities added.
It is unclear if any members of the royal family were at the residence at the time of the incident on June 1.
This is not the first instance of an intruder at the estate - where William and Kate moved to from Kensington Palace in 2022. In October 2024, two masked raiders broke into farm buildings on the Windsor estate while the Windsors were at their home nearby.
Another break in occurred shortly before the family moved in. In 2022, a man posing as a priest spent the evening at the castle indulging in food and drinks and was even given a place to sleep at the property.

Uncertainty lingers over Dupont Circle's status ahead of WorldPride Parade

WASHINGTON () — With just two days left until the Parade in Washington, D.C., accessibility to Dupont Circle remains unclear, and city leaders are sending mixed signals about what to expect. Earlier this week, both D.C. and U.S. Park police over the weekend due to safety concerns. The decision stemmed from previous Pride weekends, when police said the area saw property damage, looting, underage drinking, and even reports of gunfire. The historic fountain at the center of the circle was reportedly damaged as well. PREVIOUS COVERAGE | DC police recinds request to close Dupont Circle park during WorldPride after pushback from DC community But following public pushback, including opposition from Ward 5 Councilmember Zachary Parker, D.C. police have backed off their initial request. While the National Park Service has not yet made a final decision, many residents are calling for a solution that balances celebration and safety. 'It's a symbol for the gay community. It's a symbol for this neighborhood. It's one of the best neighborhoods in the city,' said Richard Lewis, who has lived near Dupont Circle for more than 20 years. 'I was disgusted and embarrassed [by the behavior last year]. I thought, this is not how we treat our neighborhoods. It was a slap to the gay community, knowing fully well that the parade wasn't even there.' Instead of a full closure, some neighbors are advocating for a compromise — keeping the park open, but with increased law enforcement. WorldPride underway in DC for first time 'I understand both sides of the story,' added Lewis. 'I'd like to see it remain open with increased police presence so people know there's accountability and that they shouldn't be damaging public or private property.' In a statement, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith confirmed the department's shift, saying, 'After hearing from community leaders and residents, I am formally withdrawing MPD's request to close Dupont Circle Park… While US Park Police will make the final call, MPD will have resources available if needed.' As of now, with a little more than 48 hours until the start of the parade, no final word has come from the National Park Service or U.S. Park Police about whether the park will remain open or closed. Prince William Finally Addresses Prince Harry Feud Amid Reports They've ‘Not Spoken in More Than 2 Years'

Prince William sure knows a thing or two. about family squabbles. The Prince of Wales is currently dealing with a rift with his brother Prince Harry, and he shared a rare insight about the Royal family. Prince William visited the Army Air Corps on June 3, and he asked a soldier, 'Is the pace of life good at the moment?' The soldier responded that it was a 'mixed bag,' which led to a conversation about family life. See you enough?' the Heir asked. 'Some of them might not want to see you that much. It's a mixed bag sometimes.' The statement comes after reports came out that William and his brother Prince Harry haven't talked in two years. 'There is no relationship,' a source confirmed to Us Weekly. Royal expert Marlene Koenig agreed that, 'Bridges have been burned on both sides.' 'For William, there's a fear that Harry would go to the press and talk about what was said between them if he speaks to him,' Koenig expands. With Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis, the Wales family were preoccupied in giving their energy towards recovery. 'William and Kate have had to deal with her cancer and not worry about what Harry is saying. They're doing what they do as a family and as the future king and future queen consort and live their lives.'Koenig also explained that Prince William acts like a barrier between Harry and Charles. 'Charles never stopped loving Harry, but he doesn't want to [cause] any more tension within the family,' she says. 'He can't bring his two sons together — that's something they need to do. It must be awfully painful for the king that he doesn't see his grandchildren and that he can't talk to his son for fear of what will happen,' she adds, 'but he's keeping his distance until they can find a way to talk.' 'I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore,' Harry said in his bombshell interview with the BBC. 'Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has. He won't speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.' Royal commentator Richard Fitzsimmons told the outlet that the interview might have deepened the rift. 'William cannot forgive Harry for having betrayed the royal family in destructive interviews and a memoir while at the same time ruthlessly monetizing their royal connections in the U.S.,' says Fitzsimmons. Recent reports from The Daily Beast reveal that once William ascends to the throne, he will treat them very harshly. A source told The Daily Beast: 'Charles might be happy to put up with this, but William won't. He loathes and despises Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body, he believes they have betrayed everything the family stands for and the idea that they are using their royal status as a calling card will enrage him.'Best of StyleCaster The 26 Best Romantic Comedies to Watch if You Want to Know What Love Feels Like These 'Bachelor' Secrets & Rules Prove What Happens Behind the Scenes Is So Much Juicier BTS's 7 Members Were Discovered in the Most Unconventional Ways

Trump suggests Elon Musk is suffering from ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome'

Shortly after Elon Musk officially left his White House office, he apparently felt free to share some candid thoughts about the Republican Party's domestic policy megabill, the inaptly named 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act.' Evidently, the billionaire wasn't impressed. Just one day after a joint appearance with Donald Trump in the Oval Office, during which the president rewarded his top campaign donor with praise and a golden key emblazoned with the White House insignia, Musk condemned Trump's proposal in striking terms, writing on the social platform he owns, 'I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.' Musk added soon after, apparently referring to lawmakers who voted for the GOP reconciliation package, 'In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.' On Wednesday, he went further, launching an online 'KILL the BILL' effort. Those expecting the president to return rhetorical fire with over-the-top online missives of his own were disappointed: Trump didn't say a word. On Thursday, however, just a few days after singing Musk's praises, the Republican had quite a bit to say. NBC News reported: 'I've always liked Elon,' Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during a bilateral meeting with [German Chancellor Friedrich Merz], but he said he was 'very surprised' by Musk's comments denouncing the legislation. 'You saw the words he had for me. He hasn't said anything about me that's bad. I'd rather have him criticize me than the bill, because the bill is incredible,' the president said. Putting aside the obvious fact that the legislation is far from 'incredible' — see the latest findings from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, for example — the president didn't just offer a vague defense of the far-right reconciliation package. On the contrary, Trump actually focused most of his comments on Musk specifically. 'Elon is upset because we took the EV mandate — which was a lot of money for electric vehicles — and they're having a hard time,' the president said, referring to a 'mandate' that does not exist while implying that Musk only opposes the GOP legislation because it'll affect his car company's profits. Trump went on to suggest, in reference to former NASA administrator nominee Jared Isaacman, whom Musk lobbied for, that 'I didn't think it was appropriate.' Of course, that raises the related question of why the president nominated him in the first place if this was inappropriate. That paved the way for the pièce de résistance: the president suggesting that his former DOGE chief is suffering from 'Trump derangement syndrome.' 'Elon and I had a great relationship,' the Republican concluded. 'I don't know if we will anymore.' For his part, the GOP megadonor responded to Trump's claim that he 'knew the inner workings of the bill' as it came together, saying, 'False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!' He also discounted the idea that the electric vehicle provisions of the package have anything to do with his opposition. I don't imagine we've heard the last of this.
