EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson bags new TV gig 18 years after being killed off as Barry - and it's worlds away from the BBC soap
EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson has bagged a new TV gig 18 years after being killed off as Barry.
Soap fans may remember Shaun as Barry Evans who first appeared on the show back in 1994.
Barry died after being pushed off a cliff edge by his wife Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) in 2004.
Shaun's new role is worlds away from the popular BBC soap and it has been revealed he will be featuring on Channel 5 's Celebrity Puzzling.
Hosted by Jeremy Vine, the spin-off is set to see stars take on mind-bending puzzles across eight instalments.
The new series is set to being on Monday, June 23 and Jeremy will be joined by Sally Lindsay and Carol Vorderman who act as team captains.
Shaun will play on Sally's team in the finale episode against The Chase star Paul Sinah, also known as The Sinnerman.
Other celebrities set to feature across the series include former England goalkeeper David James, comic Les Dennis, TV doctor Ranj Singh, actor John Thomson, and Olympic gold medallist Sam Quek, amongst others.
Commenting on the spin-off, Jeremy said: 'It's amazing to do a quiz that's so simple and yet feels so fresh in every way.
'Celebrity Puzzling is one of those shows where, from the very first edition, everything fell into place with our amazing 5 team, with Carol and with Sally, and we just had the greatest fun in the studio.
'Not to mention burning through quite a few brain cells as we all tried to solve those beastly puzzles!'
Just last year, Shaun delighted the crowd at Alexandra Palace by performing Sweet Caroline.
The crowd at the World Darts Championship certainly welcomed his performance, which generated a superb atmosphere.
In addition, he also performed 1980s song '(Something Inside) So Strong'.
The darts cheerleaders joined in with his performance by dancing along.
There was much applause for Shaun, who is frequently referred to by the name of his EastEnders character.
After leaving EastEnders in 2004, Shaun went on to appear in sitcom Extras as 'Barry off EastEnders'; a satirical version of himself.

Is Michelle Ryan leaving EastEnders for good as Zoe Slater exits?
Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) made a hasty departure in EastEnders after a week two decades in the making, claiming that she has done something 'so bad' that it warrants her disappearing for good. The much-loved Walford icon staged her long-awaited comeback on Monday (June 16), appearing on screen for the first time since 2005. Staying with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) in a flat in London, it became apparent very quickly that Zoe wasn't in a good place, with our Stace concerned enough to notify Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). Alfie wasn't keen on the prospect of keeping Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace)in the dark but Zoe urged him to keep shtum. When Kat showed up at the flat, however, Zoe was forced to hide and she subsequently made an escape, determined not to come face-to-face with her estranged mum. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Kat's suspicions are raised but Stacey and Alfie managed to cover their tracks – so far anyway! The question is: just what is 'so bad' that Zoe has to flee once more? Is this really her exit? Has Michelle Ryan's stint come to an end so soon? Let's take a look at what we know. If you're thinking 'please don't go Zoe, it's barely been a week', then you're not alone as I too was thinking the same thing. However, I bring you good news, with this exit simply being a temporary one. Metro understands that Zoe will return to screens – and presumably this time in Walford – later this year in a more regular captivity. Good things come to those who wait and let's face it, we've been waiting a long time. One of EastEnders' most-known characters ever, Zoe frequented the Square for a five year period, appearing between 2000 and 2005. The early noughties was a particularly strong era for the popular soap, with the Slater clan at the centre of much of the drama. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Zoe in particular featured in many iconic storylines during this period. From assisting Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) and Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) in covering up the murder of Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) after her affair with the Queen Vic landlord – and her subsequent pregnancy reveal – to her relationship with Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman), she had no shortage of legendary and soapy moments. More Trending She is mostly remembered for the moment that Kat confirmed she's her biological mum. The truth came to light in a showdown which prompted perhaps the most iconic dialogue exchange ever uttered in Albert Square. I am of course referring to 'You ain't my mother!', to which Kat replied: 'Yes I am!'. There are few TV moments as iconic – and hopefully we'll get many more when Zoe returns to the Square later this year and *fingers crossed* reunites with Kat. Abbey Clancy packs on the PDA with husband Peter Crouch as the couple put on an amorous display during day two of Royal Ascot
They've been married since 2011 and share four children together. And Abbey Clancy and her husband Peter Crouch were packing on the PDA as they enjoyed a loved-up outing on the second day of Royal Ascot on Wednesday. The couple were pictured sharing a kiss as they watched the action from a balcony overlooking Ascot Racecourse. Abbey, 39, who shared snaps of her look on Instagram, showed off her model physique in a slinky white satin dress from Magda Butrym. Meanwhile Peter, 44, put on a dapper display in a sharp cream suit as he leaned in for a kiss from his stunning wife. Royal Ascot, the jewel in the crown of the UK racing calendar, kicked off on Tuesday with the Queen Anne Stakes and will run until Saturday. King Charles and Camilla have been once again arriving in the famous carriage procession along the course and past the stands that will welcome hundreds of thousands of punters during the five-day meet. It is a royal tradition that has reached its 200th anniversary this year after it was first held in 1825 during the reign of King George IV. The festival was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 after she declared Ascot ideal for 'horses fit for kings' and it is now a major social event and sporting attraction. It comes after Abbey told OK! magazine that she would love to have another baby, but her former footballer husband Peter joked he would 'leave' her if she considered it. She said: 'I'd have 10 kids if I could but Pete is like "absolutely not". I think he said he'd leave me if I bring another living thing into the house. 'All the kids are in school now so I could easily have a newborn, but my husband says "no way".' The couple, who have been married since 2011, share four children - Sophia Ruby, 14, Liberty Rose, 10, Johnny, seven, and Jack, six. While Abbey said that she typically gets her way with her husband, she acknowledges that adding another child to their family is one subject he will not change his mind about. As she watched the racing unfold with her pals, Abbey was in high spirits She has previously spoken of her husband's affection for their children, admitting that whenever they do get the opportunity to enjoy a date night, they end up missing their brood The model joked: 'I've actually just got a lovely new baby who's 18 hands - Enzo, my horse. 'He's five minutes from the house but I'd like him to live in my garden and sleep in my bed but that's not possible either!' She has previously spoken of her husband's affection for their children, admitting that whenever they do get the opportunity to enjoy a child-free date night, they end up missing their sizeable brood. Abbey said that while they are a well-off family, she does her best not to spoil her children so that they understand the importance of working hard.

Dani Dyer brands husband Jarrod Bowen a ‘d******d' as she reveals what he got up to on the night before their wedding
DANI Dyer has branded her husband Jarrod Bowen a 'd******d' as she revealed what he got up to on the night before their wedding. The former Love Island star and the West Ham forward tied the knot back in May. 5 5 They recited their vows in front of their nearest and dearest at the five-star £500-a-night Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire. However, Dani, 28, was less than impressed with her new spouse's behaviour in the night before the wedding ceremony. She revealed that whilst staying in the luxury retreat, her then-fiance and his friends took their playstations to the venue. It seems that England footballer Jarrod, also 28, has a penchant for video games, which left Dani far from excited. On the most recent episode of the Live and let Dyer podcast with her actor father Danny Dyer, she said: "He said he ain't staying with me the night before. "He went, 'No, I don't want to stay with you'. They were all taking, him and their mates, their PlayStations to the hotel. "I was like, "You're all a bunch of d***s. Why are you all excited over playing PlayStation when you're going to be a husband?" Despite her pleas, the podcast personality was still left alone with her bridal squad as the lads opted for their controllers. She continued: "He went, "Yeah, that don't change nothing, I'm still playing".' To make matters worse, after the star-studded ceremony, the footballer opted for more gameplay on the popular games console. Dani Dyer's father daughter dance with emotional Danny after he walks her down the aisle Danny fumed: "Then he said to me, 'What are we doing on the Sunday after the wedding?' "I said, 'I don't know, we'll probably just be hanging, like, we'll come home". He went, 'Oh, no, I just didn't know if I could play football champs on the Sunday'." She added: "I went, 'Yeah play football champs, that's fine Jarrod, absolutely." How Dani Dyer transformed her reputation The daughter of everyone's favourite EastEnders geezer Danny, is currently living the high life. But Dani has had a rollercoaster few years, from her Love Island win back in 2018, to watching her son's father Sammy Kimmence go to prison for fraud, and now navigating her glamourous new life as a WAG and mother of twin babies. In recent years, Dani has completely shaken off the 'chav' persona, and has become one of the most well-known of the current England WAGs. Fabulous spoke to celebrity PR expert Ed Hopkins to find out the key steps Dani has taken to reinvent herself, including the tips she has borrowed from iconic WAG Cheryl Cole. Ed revealed that Dani's ability to navigate personal challenges, such as the scandal involving Sammy, has greatly played a crucial role in her reinvention. Ed said: "By openly discussing her struggles and triumphs, she has built a strong, relatable persona. "Her transparency about her personal life, including solo parenting and dealing with public scrutiny, has garnered significant public support and empathy." He also shared that Dani's openness in discussing the challenges of motherhood, has helped to transform her reputation. Ed said: "This openness has made her more relatable to a broader audience, particularly young mothers. She balances her public image by sharing both the joys and hardships of parenting, creating a more nuanced and authentic brand." Dani is often seen supporting West Ham winger Jarrod, including during England's devastating loss to Spain in the 2024 Euros. Her unwavering support for her partner, has cemented her as one of the most well-known WAGS of this generation, according to Ed. He said: "Her active support for Jarrod, including attending football matches and engaging with fans, mirrors the strategies used by high-profile WAGs like Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham, who also stood by their partners publicly and built their own identities alongside them." Not only this, but Ed revealed that Dani has been able to stay relevant over the years due to her candid use of social media. He said: "Dani has consistently used media platforms to share her narrative, from interviews to social media updates. "She has managed to stay relevant by engaging with her followers through candid posts and professional collaborations. "This approach is reminiscent of how Victoria Beckham transitioned from pop stardom to a respected fashion designer, using media to reframe her public image." The pair soon moved on from the incident as they later splashed out on a £3k a night exclusive resort in Italy for their honeymoon. Together, the loved-up duo checked into stunning five-star resort Villa d'Este in Lake Como. On social media, they shared photos from their stay, with snaps of them looking smitten as they admired the picturesque lake views. Dani later showed off more of the jawdropping scenery from their £5,000 suite, which boasted a balcony and a separate living area. 5 5 5
