Sinar suspends staff over erroneous infographic on new IGP
Sinar Harian has suspended staff involved in the publication of an infographic which wrongly stated that newly appointed Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail was a PKR member.
In a statement today, the Malay daily said those suspended include the social media supervisor who approved the infographic.

BACHOK: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has donated a laptop to Muhammad Syimir Amar AlMuktar, 18, an underprivileged student from Kampung Pengkalan Chengal, Perupok. Muhammad Syimir expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the donation, which he said would greatly ease his preparation to begin a foundation course in Engineering Technology on July 9. 'I didn't expect to receive direct assistance from the Prime Minister. Without this contribution, I would have had to save up on my own to buy a laptop,' said the aspiring engineer. His mother, Hayuzi Mat Zin, 46, who supports the family by selling traditional kuih from home, said she earns around RM50 a day, making it difficult to fund her son's studies. 'Besides Syimir, I still have three younger children in primary school and one more studying at Politeknik Kulim in Kedah. I'm thankful his story caught public attention after it was reported by local media late last month. 'Since then, several individuals and NGOs have come forward with support, helping ease the financial strain of preparing for his further studies,' she said.

Anwar calls on Sarawak PKR to strengthen party's grassroots
KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the Sarawak leadership line-up to continue strengthening the party's grassroots following the recent party elections in May. He said PKR's grassroots strength must be embraced, reminding those who won in the election not to be arrogant but instead to work together with all parties, including those who lost. "Each of us has our own role and strength to continue serving the people. "Building the party in the Land of the Hornbills is no easy feat, but with collective determination, Keadilan can certainly establish a firm footing," he said in a Facebook post after a meeting with the Sarawak PKR Leadership Council here today. Anwar said the mandate given to the leadership was not an absolute right, but a major responsibility that must be carried out with honesty and sincerity.
